Still on from what I have seen/heard. They just pushed the "closing" date back for whatever reason. But we've been seeing Transcare people driving Alamo vehicles, etc. Medic 18 was in Wapp the other night. Apparently Alamo got kicked out of the office in Fishkill so they are posting out of station for now.

LOL. I remember hearing that story once or twice. I keep yelling at my tobacco chewing partners to not leave their nasty spit bottles around because of it.

A long time? Didn't they get the rescue body truck for the supervisors a few years ago?

Or how often do you remove (and wash) your jewelry, specifically rings and watches? And let us not forget the stethoscopes. Or how about Blood Pressure Cuffs? When I ever get around to taking Microbiology, I'm going to reach out to a friend who works for a lab and do a study to see how clean our blood pressure cuffs are. I bet you they are far worse than our stethoscopes.

Do they mean Metro North/MTA PD?

Not for nothing, I've worked MANY EMS agencies and seen MANY agencies operating with boards from elsewhere. I'm sure NDP, MLSS, TCHV, Alamo are ALL guilty at one point in time of possessing other agencies boards. I think there was a backboard a while back that making the rounds that people had signed before passing it on. It was kind of like the roving gnome of EMS. The places it had been are mind boggling.

Confirming the parade starts at 7pm right? Route is down 22 from 343 to Station 1 right?

Remember to protect yourself, your crew, and your patient. EMTs are only required to lift 125lbs. So between you and your partner, if the patient weights more than 200-225lbs (how much does YOUR stretcher weight?) you should be calling for assistance.

Weather.com shows the chances of precip to be about 5% up until 9pm. 70-90% after that and come 11pm, just run.

Any word on who won what?

Looks like my post was lost in the oopsey. The ACS website lists Hackensack as a Level II Trauma center. http://www.facs.org/trauma/verified.html

I wish I had known ahead of time that they were going to be on Hudson side this year. My brother-in-law has an awesome view of the NYC skyline and several years ago we would have been able to see the fireworks if not for the buildings. If they were on the Hudson side it would have been an awesome spectacle. Will they be on the Hudson side again next year?

We need another air show in the Hudson Valley. Last one I went to was at Stewart but that had to be over 20 years ago.

Diemers are too small. The AEV Vans that I work in in both of my jobs suit me just fine. When I'm solo in the back working on a patient, I don't want to have to take a tram to get from one side of the compartment to the other. In a van just about everything is in reach from both the captain's chair and the bench with some minor exceptions (tip people, don't put important stuff in the cabinet above the patient's feet). I've seen those StatPak bags before. I think we used them for a short time at Cortlandt. Not sure what happened to them. I don't remember having used them much but from looking at the pictures and the setup I can't imagine finding it as fun to use as some.

Ditto. If I had to choose between a box and the StatPak, I'd probably go for the StatPak too. Out of pure morbid curiosity, could you take some pics of the StatPak? Especially interested in how you situate it when it's in use, how the stuff is arranged etc.

I've used something like it I think. Can't remember what brand it was. The old "parachute" bags from CRP looked similar but were ridiculous. You had to open 3 different zippered compartments just to get something you use everyday. I guess I'm just so used to the bags I've been using for the past 10 years that I scoff at anything else. Backpack is no big deal, I just sling the regular bags over my shoulder. I just wish the first in bag at my side job were lighter......they stuff everything but the kitchen sink in there.

Vista has one coming up since some people are from up that way:

I see why the medics prefer the boxes. Those bags (IMHO) SUCK.

Ouch. I can't imagine having to explain that one to the chief. Glad nobody was hurt.

Last year I moved to the Pawling area and am looking to get new doctors that are a little closer to home. (All my old practitioners are in the Peekskill area and while I will miss them, it's impracticable to go all the way down there if I'm sick and need a stupid note for work). So I'd appreciate suggestions on good doctors in the Pawling/Patterson area (Dover and Beekman work too if they are really good). I obviously need a GP, Dentist, and considering my profession, a good Chiropractor would be good too. Thanks in advance for all your feedback. WHY you like the doctors would be good in addition to names.

Funny. I was told to stay away from Dr. Castiglia. Coworker has him as an MD and says he's thorough but wouldn't recommend people to him. I'll have to ask him more about it. And seems there is conflicting views on Dr. Grill. I'll miss Dr. McGurty and Dr. Burns in Peekskill but they are too far away to have as an everyday doctor and frankly, the 2 hour waits were unbearable.
