  1. I think that Ryder Truck makes for a fine collapse vehicle for any department. They have basically the sames type of vehicle in a fire department in New Jersey which works fine for them. I don't get why everyone is complaining. It has plenty of space in it for plenty of collapse supplies. If they throw a radio system in it for now and a few lights and a siren, i don't see any problem with using that truck as a support vehicle for collapse emergencies. People are getting alittle picky LOL
  2. Sorry my mistake on those 8-[ Thanks for the corrections LOL

  4. I think that may be if they have multiple calls at the same time that they do that, but im not fully sure if that's the case. someone fill us in if that's not the case
  5. Well in Croton, if we're on scene of a motor vehicle accident with a considerable amount of damage, extrication in progress, or multiple fluids leaking or gas fumes are definately in the air, a precaustionary handline is stretched for the safety of the membership. Most times a line is stretched it is also charged with a man steadfast at the pump and at least one on the nozzle.
  6. HAAAPPPYYYY BIRTHDAAAAAAY! have a great day!
  7. Pretty awesome rescue squad. It would be nice to have a full compliment of extrication tools on the bus for vehicular extrications or forcible entry, but like BFD1054 said many people in VAC's get a little nervous on those "not-so-routine" calls. Plus it sounds like they have a paid crew, and you cannot always gaurantee getting enough help on a serious MVA. But it would definately be cool to have an EMS Squad and a rescue truck like that for an ambulance corp!
  8. LOL RES20CUE, I figured u were speaking of FD Jobs but i wasn't sure if everyone else was on the same page. I heard the name's Braircliff and Pleasantville come into play and i figured they were thinking PD
  9. Im pretty sure they are speaking of police departments who are hiring.
  10. Definately not a fan of the show! Disrespectful in some aspects of the show. Not all firemen deal with those kinds of realistic situations in the ways they show!
  11. Very saddening to see a LODD of any man or woman in a civil service job anywhere. Hopes and prayers for his family and friends. RIP
  12. The men and women at Fire Contol staffed by Westchester Dept. of Emergency Services staff the field communications unit. They send it to any large scale incident for better radio communications
  13. Another good idea is to mandate everyone on the team has firefighting experience and has taken FF Survival And FAST Operations. Very good classes. Practice knot tieing! LOL

  15. How's this "No Water...Just Irons!"
  16. From what i have heard, STAT Flight will only be running one helicopter at a time when they fully change to their new system. That would basically screw anybody who has a bad accident and the helicopter is on a few hr. transport somewhere. I also heard that staffing is going down and they are reducing salaries so many flight nurses are going back to the ICU to regain some of the pay they're losing from the cut. Not sure if this is all true but if it is, it's sure gonna put a damper on the upper hudson valley region!
  17. Hey 635 Engine 119 will be in the Brewster parade and the Ossining parade before the year is up. Hopefully we'll win a couple more trophies since the village wants to sell her since we're getting the new seagrave!
  18. PUMPER all the way An engine is the first due piece of apparatus in my opinion because hooking a water source is the most important task on the fire ground. Right before stretching and advancing an initial attack handline that is!
  19. Thats what i thought but ive never heard it said like that bc i would just assume that the stores are on the first floor and its not neccesarily apartments above but usually has a common cockloft.
  20. Good Question!
  21. Im not sure but i will look into it for you
  22. Structure fire in Ossining yesterday and nobody called a FAS Team for that either. Confirmed basement fire. I don't get why some people don't call a FAST just to be other safe side. Well at least for their own members safety!
  23. Hey CFD FASTLEADER, whats up bro, Garry (i.e. 2082) took it up at the academy. You could probably ask him how it was
  24. In reguards to F.A.S.T. responses, it's my belief that anytime a fire department goes out on any type of structural call that sounds like it might turn out to be something(i.e. Possible, reported structural fire, or inside smoke condition) a F.A.S.TEAM should be requested to the scene or at least on stand-by. Reason being is that way too much time is wasted between the time of dispatch and the time of confirming a working structure fire. By the time the chief gets there and confirms it, a FAS TEAM may be 10-15 minutes out. If they are initially dispatched, there is plenty more time to assemble at the given fire house. As far as not disptaching FAS TEAMS to one room fires, a FAST should be send to any confirmed working fire. Too many people have an attitude of thinking that its just gonna be another simple knockdown. Well we don't know what the inside of every structure looks like and if there's heavy smoke upon arrival and there are renovations being done inside, anything could happen. You may have a room and contents but maybe some type of structural damage happened at an earlier time that we do not know about which weakened it. Or what happens if it's an arson job and there's a huge puddle of gasoline in the room next door which bursts into flames. 8-[ Studies have shown more trapped firefighters die in residential homes than in commercial bldg's! So its my opinion that anytime a department big or small goes out on a run which could turn into something, a FAS TEAM should be rollin with the first due apparatus.
  25. Well it looks like Tanker 10 Croton is going down in the books as a piece of Croton FD history. There didn't seem to be any damage to the frame, however there was an extensive amount of body damage done to the front and rear of the truck. Very upsetting. However, LUCKILY nobody was seriously injured in the accident and both personnel aboard Tanker 10 escaped the crash with just minor injuries.
