Good evening everyone, I need a part for a Code 3 model XL 9300 AL lightbar. I need the timing belt that make the halogen lights rotate. Today that part broke on our reserve pumper and code 3 discontinued this part. I looked on E-Bay and Govdeals.com and was unable to find even the lightbar for sale. I did find some answers to my questions and I would like to share with everyone just in case you have an E-One 95ft. platform: 1) Describe the capacity of the trucks hydraulic system. The tank holds around 60gallons, the system holds roughly two 55 gallon drums of oil 2) Describe the max. hydraulic operating pressure. 2900psi 3) Describe how the hydraulic fluid is checked and capacity. Ladder must be in transport position and the oil at operating temp. Have a great day and stay safe everyone!

However, if they ask for help and you do not know the answer to it's fullest shouldn't you start to pull from your pool of help? Forums is a great way to do that along with manuals, manufacturers. Good morning everyone, the bracket in the picture is one of two brackets that were off our 1982 Mack CF that were used to hold an aluminum tube in place to house a pike pole. I used this setup in the cab area of our 2009 E-One pumper for a 6 ft. pike pole. I would like to find more of these clamps, do any of you Mack CF buffs recognize this clamp? I have a few questions to throw out there. A couple things you may wish to add: Coax Cutters. Even if you don’t cut battery cables, they are safer to cut door wiring harnesses and don’t build up a static charge like hydraulic extrication cutters can. A can of Brake Cleaner (awesome for quickly cleaning a sand jammed extrication tool coupling) Just friendly suggestions. And you can’t beat those Irwin Vice Grip Pliers! Irwin also makes 9 in 1 screw driver. By far the best multi-screw driver I have ever used! I carry both tools in my bunker gear. Be safe & thanks for sharing! Has anyone used brake cleaner to clean a sand jammed extrication tool coupling? My second question is on LDH 5" hose gaskets and adapters, since WD40 will dry out and swell the gaskets, could you use brake cleaner as an alternative? Or just stick with trusty vasoline on the gaskets? I look forward to folks responses to see what other departments use, and thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Yes houlidsa you are spot in about the Akron flathead axes. That is why I asked the question, I want to be able to have the best available options to our guys on the floor and to also have a standard of tools that we will purchase for when we do another pumper in 2014 (tenantively) Great advice and tips, thank you very much for your help everyone!

The reason that I ask is because I know it is a different style versus a regular Flat Head Axe that you would buy from Akron Brass. What kills me even to this day, cut out all the bs, if you want to buy a Pierce, then buy a pierce, if you want to buy a sutphen, then buy a sutphen. It kills me how every department in the state has to bid out a fire truck. Let me propose this to the forum, If you want to buy a Ford or a Chevy, or Dodge for your P.O.V. why would you bid it out? If you have the money go buy what you want that will best suit your needs for your department. No I am a fan of passing a referendum by the taxpayers of your responding district to let them know what you want to buy and at what price. Just thinking out loud and outside of the box here.

I could not agree with you more. The Summerville plant could never build an aerial, would you trust some building an aerial that has never built one before? Truth be told when they shut down the Hamburg, NY plant (RD Murray) and the LTI plant, that was the last straw for ALF. Along with doing chassis and Condor chassis's at the Summerville plant I think they are toying with building a millitary type vehicle, or components for one. In my opinion I think they will finish building what is currently in production, and stop building fire apparatus and focusing on other projects.

Marion builds one hell of a truck! What I like about them is they customize and they take their time to make sure it's right the first time. The truck itself looks great, i love that design! The only thing that truck is missing is a booster line off the top, or rear compartment and you're all set! Does anyone have spec info on this truck? Great job Putnam Valley ! Does Putnam Valley have any RD Murray's?

If I had to go with a roll-up door I would go with an Amdoor. Amdoor may be a bit more expensive but they are far more durable. In regards to painted vs. non painted I don't know what to say. Either way you look at it your going to get scratches in the door's during the lifetime of the truck. However when you get a scratch in anodized aluminum vs. a painted door, it is much much easier to get out. And at least with a painted door after you buff the scratch out you can repaint it. Worst case scenario on the anodized aluminum finish no matter what roll-up door you go with, you can order a replacemnet slat for the slat that is scratched. I hope this helps you out.

I was checking through e-bay motors tonight when I stumbled across this. There is a 1970 Young Crusader for sale in Machias, ME (Marshfield Fire Department) that served the New Hyde Park, NY Fire District at one point. The truck looks great, starting bid is $2000.00 and has 9 days and 21 hours left to go. Although to support Sterling's cause, I think they had to do something to keep competitive on the smaller vehicle market such as Ambulance, light rescue's, brush trucks, etc. They needed a chassis to compete with the chassis of choice the Ford F-550. If not you'd be stuck with something like this. This is a 4 wheel drive Sterling/ALF that serves the Kent, NY fire department. I'm not knocking their truck, I think it's a unique but sharp looking rig. What I am saying is Sterling needed a smaller 4 wheel drive chassis to compete with the Ford F-550. However if I'm speccing out a light rescue, brush, Utility, Squad, etc. truck, I'd go with the F-550.

I love the Chevron striping on the rear door, very smart and I wish more fire departments would go to this on not just big rigs, but small one's like this.
