Chris, Is the plan for 24hr coverage? Or is it only 8x4 / 4x12? I know air 3 was only available until mids, unless a special request was made, and a callback was approved...

If you look at Port Chester all the portables are on VHF with the Chiefs and paid guys having the repeater channel so they can transmit to 60 control. How hard is it to have them switch to channel 2 while on the fire ground? The IC can still monitor 60 control and when the IC needs to transmit he just has to switch to channel 1. Is that asking too much? In reply to above and only to above, yes,Port Chester uses Channel 2(non-repeater) channel when on the fireground.Hence, people do not hear us on thier scanner... This has been the case for some time now... And no,your not asking too much, but who are you to ask?? Last night, with the weather,we went totallyoff 46.26 to a secondary channel, for dispatch... As did many other depts............... Enough said....................

Yes,and depending on your status in the Dept. Ex.1st line supervisor or above, more has to be taken.. If you are a first responder,Pd,FD,Ems,Dpw, Health Dept.Etc. you must take ICS 100,200 & NIMS 700. Supervisors 100,200 and most likley 300 (ICS) - NIMS 700 & 800NRP You can take the on-line courses at FEMA.gov, go to training & education link. Not that hard to complete. Of course the higher up the line you are the more you must take,in the classroom setting. This is all so if there is an incident anywhere in the US,we as first responders are all talking the same thing. Also,if your municipality hasn't adopted this whole NIMS concept, and all your first responders trained to the appropriate level, you will not be eligible for grant money. This doesn't mean if the FD is trained & PD not,you won't get the $$$ ,Only the dept that is trained will get the grant money, from what I been told @ all these NIMS seminars.. The best part is everyone has to comply be the end of Sept 2006.....

Unfortunately, this is not the first case of this happening in West Chester... In the past, ambulances,Fire vehicles,& PD vehicles have been taken in my town. ALL recovered right a way..But you never know. Could every city/town handle an incident where a piece of front-line apparatus is lost???At the scene?? This should be a reminder to everyone to watch your backs, never know what "Nut" is around.... Scene security is of upmost importance at "EVERY" scene. In this day ,scene security is a must...ALL the time, everone must be on the look-out.. The PD's role is traffic, crowd control, scene safety, documentation of any entry into an unoccupied premise and any other assistance that they can render. It must be remembered, that at anytime or place, a driver whether drunk or otherwise may drive right into the scene..This has happened in many places, striking members, apparatus or running over hoselines, which can severly hamper your operation, and endanger us even more.... WATCH YOU BACK!! & EACHOTHER'S ALWAYS !!! Every Dept.Must have a good working relationship with the PD,and establish a SOP to address everyones concerns..If this is not in place, have your Chief's set it up...If everyone knows whats up,than the job will get taken care much smoothly..Get everyone on the same page,it helps... We all know that the first few moments at any scene can be hectic,so don't expect everything to go smoothly, but if the PD knows what is needed it usually gets done... Thankfully, this "Firetruck" stealing is not something that happens everyday, but this is a good reminder of how vulnerable we are... BE SAFE>..............

The Restaurant at WestChester/ US 1 was Coneyz, not as good as Hubbas. A Little history,Texas was sold to "Pat" back in the 90's,he also owns a place in Stamford,Ct (I believe in the Cove area). Pat has since sold again, hence the name Hubbas, minus the "PAT". Nothing beat Millie, back in the Texas, with cigarette hanging out of mouth, cooking your food. That's what it was all about! Chili was much better back in the Texas days. And we still get prisoner meals at Hubbas........................

United E/R saw over 20,000 patients last year. It's correct to say a large majority were undocumented and uninsured. This also caused the longer wait at the E/R ,so the people who have a way to get to Greenwich or White Plains,do so.The problem is now those same people will be calling 911 to get a "FREE" ride to the hospital. This can become a major problem for PCRRBEMS.Not to mention the longer turn around times. We have been assured that the surrounding E/R can handle the influx of patients.Speaking from experience,United is still open, and there is a long delay already at Greenwich.I don't believe at the present staffing Greenwich can handle it. The other problem is PCPD now has to transport all prisoner aided to an ER in NY state so now PO's have to watch these prisoner's in White Plains or WMC,taking them off the streets longer. This is a very serious problem,to the residents of PC. The closing of United has a ripple effect, in many communities, which is cause for concern. As far as Greenwich Hospital buying United. THIS IS TOTALLY NOT TRUE !!!!!!!
