I AGREE WITH ALL THE ABOVE STATMENTS AND IT IS VERY HARD NOT TO ATTEND A LOCAL WATERING HOLE WHEN THE END OF THE PARADE IS RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET.. I JUST GET A KICK OUT OF THE GUYS THAT ATTEND A PARADE AT 1 IN THE AFTERNOON AND GO UOT AT 11 OR 12 AT NIGHT STILL WEARING THE UNIFORM B/C THEY DONT HAVE TO PAY FOR COVER AT THE BARS OR THEY THINK ITS COOL. I THINK THIS IS ALITTLE REDICULIOUS. IF YOUR GOING TO ABUSE THE PRIVLAGE AND HONOR OF BEING A FIRE FIGHTER, THEN IM SORRY ILL JUST STAY HOME. ITS VERY DISGRACFUL WHEN YOU SEE A LOCAL FIRE DEPT MEMBER AT A WHITEPLAINS BAR BEING CARRIED OUT BY HIS FRIENDS. I FEEL VERY ASHAMED TO BE ASSOSIATED WITH THIS TYPE OF PEOPLE. HOPEFULLY PEOPLE THINK WITH THIER BRIAN NOT THIER BEER GUT.

I agree training is an on going process. building constrcuation changes, car fire operations change with new car technologies coming out. Also basics must not be forgotten. Dont forget where you came from. Training and experience are a good combination. Also, just because you have fire fighter one doesnt mean it stops there. I have met numerous probies that are all about ff1 and then running into a building. YEs they are young and egar to learn and its up to us seasoned guys to guide them the right way. Traing should be onward and upward, at a ongoing basis

CONGRATS!!!! I GUESS IT WAS ABOUT TIME.. GOODLUCK..

Right i know it is done in the FF 1 class.. im just saying anaually as a refesher, we do osha, survival, mask confidance, and a physical. this is to stay interior.
-
I think there should be more requirments than just FF 1... In the department in the town that i reside in.. there are multiple requiremtns for interior status. One is an annual physical. Two is FF1, the third is mask confidence, and the final is fire fighter survival.. all these elements give a person the common knowledge of fire fighting. Although they should continue in house training. Also in this department, new interior fire fighters are only allowd to go in with volunteer officers, ar a paid guy. This is to break them in a little so they dont become over whelmed. Also it gives us a chance to rate on how good they perform in a real life situation. as appose to the county training center.

CPAT.. Currently im training for it. I think that is the best measure of firefighting endurance and activities. I can name people upon people who take upon the task of firefighter, who wouldnt even get half way done with the test. I think we need to take it upon ourselves to stay fit and get fit. its a good idea for your departments to help thier members in the payments. I juts think that relying on the county to do sothing sems a bit stretched out. Its our lives at stake, and we need to make sure we are fit to save our own or others.

In Hartsdale, Either the first due engine hangs back and allows room for the truck to pass by the engine to get a good position on the corner or the building, Or the engine leaves enough room when it pulls up, that the truck can pull in right behind it and still have an optimum position. Also it all depends on nature or call, Positioning of traffic and overhead hazards.

In Hartsdale.... We call station one... "the House of Pain" Although im trying to get the slogan fro 170 to officially be "the central avenue express"
