There's one in  Port Chester at 110 Willet  Ave  Former HQ   , not used as a fire station after 1904 . Some body will have to go and get a photo of it as I don't go to that dump anymore .

You would think with all that manpower we were told they have they could have used it.

But he is the most popular guy in the fire house. Isn't that good enough to be Chief

If there wasn't a 2% tax, would the "taxpayer" have any say on what the insurance companies did with their money, once they pay their bill?

City of Newburgh put on additional staff and apparatus over the weekend. I would assume partially because they were on automatic response to some border departments, and they have been burned in the past with locals not being able to crew on Spring Break Weekend.

This is brought up EVERY parade season.  The answers never change, and neither does the inadequate level of response.

Remember you have to be nice to the inmates or you will be brought up on charges, sued  or fired because you violated their rights.

That Bedford Hills Rescue will turn out nice, turn into an all Seagrave house. Looks like Bedford Village Seagrave had their final inspection last week

this is a non story - perhaps we should make an amendment that you only can run for President if you are poor.  That way they will be so impressed with White House - have no vacation homes and just stay in the White House for 4 years (maybe 8).  Its life, its the law - I know a ton ton more waste everyday in the federal Gov't going on every single day.

Anytime we had the President stay in the city, there was a detail assigned to the hotel at night. Usually POTUS stayed at the Waldorf Astoria (not anymore, since a Chinese company bought the hotel recently) when he stayed in Manhattan (obviously Trump will stay at his "place"). We hired manpower for an engine and a ladder, and we staged in a hotel room one floor below POTUS, with standpipe "roll-ups" (hose) and truck tools and PPE/SCBA. Also there were 2 F/Fs stationed at the fire command station /alarm panel. It was an OT night tour, but not as nice as being in your own station. One night tour I worked the Presidential detail, we had a member of Ladder 2 on the crew. Since it was his company's  administrative/building inspection district, he knew the fire safety director. He asked him to have the hotel staff bring up as many folding cots as could be fit into the room, so we could all have a "resting place" during the night. The beds filled the whole room- when there was a smoke detector activation at 0200,  and the brothers at the alarm panel called up to us, it was chaos as  11 guys tried to find their bunker gear and Scotts under the beds! Also, the deputy chief was pissed several days later, when the Waldorf sent the dept. a bill for all the food/snacks ordered from room service and used from the mini-bar. Ah, the good old days!

  13. Danger liked a post in a topic by LayTheLine in The maneuverability strength of a Tractor Drawn Aerial vs. Aerial Platform
Very discouraging... This post was just showing the difference in maneuverability, no about manning and plan B and all the other complaints voiced here. I've only been on this forum for less than a year and just about every post ends up going off topic and bashing the fire service for all the problems there are. News Flash - The general public has access to this forum, it's not a password protected spot. When they read it and, more importantly, when the town fathers and managers read this they must think "what a bunch of lunk heads. No need worrying about them at town meeting because they can't agree on anything and don't get along with each other."

Open discussion is good when done in a positive way. But the negative comments and the Monday Morning Quarterbacking on this forum is ridiculous.

Getting back to the post: It was a very good video which I learned a lot from in 2 1/2 minutes. Yes, there are different types of ladders with advantages and disadvantages to all of them and that's a good and valid discussion.  FireMedic049, thanks for explaining how the tiller becomes more of a tractor-trailer than a straight stick when the rear wheels are locked. Something else I just learned.

Anyway, have at it boys, I've got better things to do!

Sounds like to me that this incident was appropriately handle and no more criticism should be made.  This seems like a isolated incident that required a special resource and that was requested and responded and handle it as needed,  end of story.

Those with criticisms, if they are so involved and have such expect opinions and knowledge ought to think about joining their local fire department if they want to help out so much.

Don't criticize those who decide and make your lives safe everyday by these proper decisions, but embrace that they are doing a job and doing it correct.

The Westchester Fire Advisory Board is having a quarterly meeting tonight at 4 Dana Road, Valhalla, NY beginning at 7:30 p.m. I expect to see all you Monday Morning Quarterbacks there ready to explain how you'll fix the entire county fire service like you claim you can on here.

Hermosa Beach is a seaside town of 19,000 with a fire department that consists of one fire engine and an ambulance. If you can't see how regional services delivery could help a community like that I don't know who could. The whole south bay consists of two engine and one truck departments like Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo, and El Segundo which could regionalize like say, North Hudson NJ or the Verdugo cities in the LA basin. Besides those, there's Torrance, a mid size department and then the inland cities like Inglewood, Hawthorne and Carson as well as the Palos Verde area which are all LACoFD.

At least two other cities (El Segundo and Monterey Park) with similar demographics to Hermosa Beach tried this recent years. Both were defeated by taxpayers at referendum even though they came with savings.

While that is true, more people in emergency services are being shot at by skells.  I believe the point he was trying to make was that the liberal party has empowered criminals who are now not only taking aim at law enforcement but anyone working in emergency services.  Completely inexcusable.  These men and women are out on the streets helping the people who really need it and the liberal agenda has turned it into a race war.  Donald is attempting to bring light of that.

Are we really trying to make an issue on this ?   Did you write this from your safe space?  If you have a problem with the way the chief spoke why don't you take a drive to talk to him.  And I'm sure he'll tell you to get the f*** outta his office.  If you're not gonna do that I suggest you stop being a keyboard warrior and focus on something else that matters more
