Outstanding, that guy for President
-
I bought one on ebay not realizing the difference, like you did. But even though Dutchess is all UHF, realistically, there really aren't more than 16 channels that I'd ever need to transmit on or even monitor (for actual need, not buff reasons) , so I programmed in what I needed. I got it for over $100 less than the ht1250 going rate, so it was a steal. Also, it was a steal for the person who stole it from my car, so the question is...How much?

Okay, questions: 1) I thought 52 ran out of St. 1 on rotation. 2) Marion/International; so it will look like 52? 3) Never heard of these trailers, where are they located? HQ? 4) Boats?

I like that roof bar and the touchmaster. What is the Vertex used for?

I agree with this. Yes, everyone hated the Irish and the eye-tal-yans when they first came here. But they learned English, worked hard and quickly became valuable LEGAL citizens. Hell, by the mid century mark, we had a R.C. mick in his 40's as the president for god sakes! I've heard enough excuses for these people, for all people. Grow up, get a job, have some self respect, don't put your hand out, assimilate. Come to this country to become an American, not to use what was built by the blood of our grandfathers. Now let's see how long it takes to get called a racist in this ridiculous PC society.

Why? Did I climb a ladder?

I signed up for this. What a great career.

the ROCK does it all, let's just leave it at that

There is no "heavy rescue" assignment per se. Any sort of extrication/rescue is handled by the truck companies I believe. There's always AFD with a staffed full heavy rescue down the road. I've heard talk of it possibly going in to service as front line, but who knows until I see it.

I hate you Donald Robison!

Maybe it was just a bad taste from the commercial I worked for, but I don't think I could work EMS again anywhere, especially NYC even if we got paid the same as the fire side.

When 911 was coming in to play, a few departments decided they didn't want to participate. EFFD still gets polled from County, they just don't advertise it. However, City and Town of Poughkeepsie and I'm pretty sure City of Beacon do not get called from County. When someone dials 911 for a police matter in those areas, the caller is transferred to their own dispatch. Which I'm sure has it's pros and cons.

Well, all I have to say about that is IBEW 1320! Screw them!

There still is quite a bit of training up there. I signed up for a live fire weekend there a few weeks from now. From what I've heard, there is also a lot done by various SWAT teams including something federal- FBI/Secret Service etc.

Full time only, mid 10's

Poughkeepsie is doing interviews now, don't think theres open spots on 3rd, just 2nd.
-
Poughkeepsie or East Fishkill?
-
I think that came with the black roof

Blue is probably because it belongs to the District Chief (or is it Captain) of EMS. Ambulances are white and blue, why not match...

Arlington High School, 1300 corridor, Mr C's class. We all said it was an accident, a small plane. Bell rang and walked to the next class. Walked in just in time to see the next plane hit. Spent the rest of the day watching. One of the teachers said it was "nothing" and turned off the TV and recited irrelevant lectures. How could you not watch the most important event of our lifetime? When they fell, I still had my youthful naiveté..."Everyone got out" I wasn't too stupid to know that nothing would ever be the same.

Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedic Captain who flies helicopters for the Department. Wow, he sure has some imagination! I wonder if he ever moonlights on the weekends as a astronaut/cowboy.
-
With all of those retired ambulances and the fact that the district's current two are always in and out of service, wouldn't it have been wise to perhaps keep one as 39-73 as a spare and/or for standbys, etc?
-
IBM POK E/C had two engines, a rescue, a mini pumper/utility and an ambulance at one point, but as the mother company downsizes...
-
Well yeah, I've brought patients in BLS for a fall and it somehow gets 99ed

I work for IBM Emergency Control. I'm not sure about what Westchester has, I'm assuming the Somers site. We have a 24-7 staff of Firefighter/EMTs trained in Haz-Mat and Confined Space rescue. We also issue CS permits and perform inspections and tests of fire alarms, sprinkler systems, hydrants, etc. Apparatus-wise, we have an engine 97-11, fly car 97-67, utility 97-69 and haz-mat trailer 97-97.
