  2. i missed the chiropractic night of class, hopefully i can pick it up at a cme
  3. I knew it was you Salani! I went to AMS with you in '97
  4. I guess it's always a "not my friends/generation" thing. We had crazy house parties from when I was 15 to when I was legal. No one ever drove drunk, no one went to the hospital. Sometimes the cops broke it up, sometimes they just said quiet down.
  5. Probably 75% of the time that I go to reply to a thread, I don't end up submitting it. People are too sensitive about stuff and you never know what comment may come back to bite you. Once its on the internet, it's there forever.
  6. MTAcop, I've got a question for you. Why are some of your cars silver and some white? Seems like there is no pattern as far as I can see i.e. assignments. That metallic silver is really sharp, I thought it might be the new standard, but I just saw a newer Tahoe in white (with what looked like two full size Whelen Freedom bars)
  7. Well, thank god it was a drill. I wonder if his gear had the protective flap over it.
  8. I obviously can't speak of dispatch or career departments, but this attitude in the volunteer service is simply depressing to me. Maybe it's just me, but I can't fathom this "Well, I'm not getting paid, so why should I lift a finger" attitude. And the "The officers should be doing all the work, why should I take initiative, I'm not in charge." Maybe my handful of years just hasn't jaded me yet. Or maybe I actually am a cut above the majority. I knew when I signed up I had work to do, and I knew I wasn't getting a check. Nobody wants to come to work details, nobody wants to wax the rig for a parade, no one wants to take classes. Everyone comes to the parties, the parades. Comes looking for their interior status the day FF1 ends. I really hate to rant like so, my statement hasn't been anything positive yet. But JBE, your pain is felt by many, the ones who try not because it's a job requirement, but because of personal interest and dedication.
  9. Well, I haven't had a white knuckle ride in a while...
  10. hahaha, oh Rob, it will be good to have you back
  11. I knew you were coming back, I just didn't know they made you lieutenant already, I'll go take my shield off now!
  12. Came to mind after reading in another thread... A lot of people share this opinion. It seems to me like a great idea, even if it was just county EMS. So what exactly are these laws that stop this from happening, and why are they in place?
  13. My first, passed down from my grandfather, retired Sgt. City of Beacon Police, Life Member Tompkins Hose Fire Company. Wish I still had it, so many memories of buffing calls with him.

  15. Terrible. It's just disrespectful actually. You put in time at an agency, leave for a job where you make twice as much money but stick around as a per diem, pick up a bunch of last minute shifts and odd hours that the company couldn't fill with full timers. And then they decide to pay full time new hires a dollar more than you? When the fulltimer is also getting benefits and overtime and you're not, just straight time. And it's not even the first time, it happens to everyone there. I'm just glad I tricked them in to actually paying me out my vacation time when I left, they always find someway to screw people out of that also. Sorry, at my job I make triple on overtime then I would per-diem at Acme. Maybe when they merge with NDP I'll sign up for a shift, I've never been past Rhinebeck before....
  16. Those big floods from a couple years back...
  17. I was going to say that. Anything you already know, throw out. Things are a lot different on the street then in the class, and I had to adjust to that.
  18. Not to mention it would actually have enough room to operate... tradition, ego, kingdoms...
  19. I heard a story around here about a woman who pulled up to Toys for Tots in her Escalade and asked for gifts for her 15 year old and her 22 year old! Unreal.
  20. Well, for example, a member of AFD St. 5 would be 32-5XX. The 2nd Lt. at St. 5 would be 32-L52. It should always be 3 digits (or have a letter i.e. 32-C5 for Captain) as to not be confused with apparatus.
  21. Usually in a FD like UV with two stations, you'd have your station number as the first digit, i.e 67-157. BTW I'm not trying to argue or even debate, just throwing it out there, slow day at work.
