Anyone know exactly where the fire was tonight? I was driving by on 84 and saw all the equipment, but were they actually on stadium property or one of the side roads across from Brockway?

I'd like to point out that no one from the scene said anything about "proving a point", it was someone from far away speculating. Could you have placed the supply line better? Probably. Do minor things go wrong at nearly every fire? Probably. Is this the least egregious hangup I've seen? Probably. I'll focus on the positive. I listened to the fire start to finish on the radio and it went very well, good use of mutual aid and what looks like a great stop to me. Joe T "if you want a fire done right, run it yourself" haha

Going by the IA, it was closer to 20, mapquest says 29 minutes to Saint's (code one)...It's a judgement call, it was the Chief's call and I'm not going to second guess it, I wasn't there.

They could have easily gotten to SFH in the time they waited for the helicopter. However, going to WCMC is another story...

Actually kind of depressing. Almost every class Dutchess offers is filled up, what keeps them from doing more? Money?

Found some good ones on firepics.net.

Any pictures?

Is the district going to start painting everything black over red? I know 67 was, but none of the other newer engines had that scheme. Also, are you going to stop rotating the rescue with 2? Aaaand I thought St. 1 was out of bay room.

I like the firepics.net system.

We have three full time mechanics. I don't think there are too many better in the business than our master mechanic.

More photos!

I heard the scores on this test weren't great. Over 2500 people took it. I got a 90 and I'm ranked #50 county wide.

Who is building this? I like the lay out of the utility body.

We use that set up (3" to wye, 2x 1.75"). Also carry 5" to 3x 2.5" manifolds.

Had somebdy do this in our district I think two years ago. It turned in to a quasi-MCI, the gas station was packed and a lot of people inhaled the dry chem.

I know there was a topic on this but it's now closed. I have a second hand leather helmet. It was purchased natural, painted yellow then black. I need it to be black, but the guy who painted it did a pretty bad job and after some use, it's completely yellow around the brim. I'm buying the recommended paint, but what I need to know is if I should sand it down with a fine paper or just paint over it or what. Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, I will probably be taking part

I know it's off the minimum staffing topic at hand, but I like this post. I'm in a combination department that has a lot more training than a lot of volunteer districts (or so I'm told.) Virtually every single volunteer member complains relentlessly about all the "unnecessary" training and how the only reason we have it is to "drive out volunteers." Obviously, it is in place to have well trained members. People complained about having to take Survival. What exactly about a class that teaches you how to survive doesn't strike you as important. We happen to have in our MTO office a Captain and a Lt. who actually write OFPC classes. They overhauled the training requirements to be fresh and nonrepetitive and provide some choice and flexibility. People complained more than ever, you just can't win. In the next breath, they demand to be held equal to Career members. To me, taking a 229 with 100 hr/yr after is a little different than FFI and maybe meeting your classes for the year. I support all the training and I take at least 100+ hours of extra state classes every year. Obviously my opinion on this isn't shared with the majority. I also agree with you about promoting Lieutenants. All too often it's a popularity contest. I'd like to see more required officer training.

Good time, good class.

Last year it seemed like East Fishkill was 50% of the attendance and PV was 40%, it should be empty this year. Too bad, the valley crew tends to be the most fun!

Car shouldn't leave a reasonable response proximity of the district except for training classes and emergencies.
