We've found the same with the twists and turns and also the narrowing diameter of the pipe as opposed to going off the side ball valve (and thus 5 inches of water directly in to the pump.) However, I've also seen a lot of older rigs have their 5" discharge off a 2.5" adapter on the officer's side which has to restrict flow.

This stuff has got to harm the public image of FDMV. You can't have a story about giving away money when you're begging for staffing and equipment.

Last I heard from Garrison, they were selling Ferrara in addition to, not instead of.
-
What contracts in Dutchess does HVP have? I see them going code 3 up and down Rt. 9 all the time.

Oh man, that is cringeworthy. 18-20 no surprise. Put your damn seatbelt on. If it seriously takes you that long to unbuckle the belt and throw the pack on, then you need to sit in your firehouse all day and practice donning til you get it. You know, I have sat through probably 18 hours this year alone of OSHA, conferences, conventions etc. of people talking about seatbelts. And I started to go nuts hearing about it so much, I'm thinking it's overkill, who really in this age doesn't get it. Now I know. Also, if going to a fire gets you that excited that you start throwing away safety regulations, then I don't want you on my crew. Wow.

Right, anything but a yellow Sutphen

RWC, you hit it on the head. I love pulling in to the station for the EMS call and there are 3 qualified individuals leaning on the bumper of the ambulance smoking cigarettes who have no intention of going. Makes me crazy.
-
QTIP. I could be wrong but I'm interpreting what he is saying as someone who blatantly refuses to go while able bodied and needed. Not like the SS is going to spy on you and take away your kids for not going to the pump out.
-
I don't know what the rule is on this stuff. But I joined to act not to hang out at the firehouse and socialize. Sometimes I get stuck on back to back calls on the ambulance. It's business. The pick and choose crowd is one thing when you're at home, but not when you are at the firehouse and just don't feel like it. Step up and do your job.

Well in Arlington, for example the Capt of St. 3 would be 32-C3. 1st Lt. of St. 4 would be 32-L41, 4 as the station, 1 as the Lt. rank. While we're going overboard at radio buffness, let's go complete! 32-91 is fire inspector (Capt.) 32-96 is MTO (Training Capt.) 32-94 is MFI (Asst. Training Lt.) 32-9 is shift command career Capt. 32-93 is career Lt. riding Engine 1. 32-10 is career Lt. riding Engine 3.

I think Garrison Fire Equipment is official now
-
Right. XX-1 through 6 are chief officers. XX-7 and 8 are EMS Capt/Chiefs XX-9 and 10 are career duty officers. XX-91, 93, 95 and 96 are also officer positions i.e. fire inspector, training officer, safety officer. As I've said for other new deliveries, you can keep your Trailblazers. Absolute junk, especially as a duty vehicle.

No joke, it should be. Don't you think the 3 or 4 guys inside have a little bit more of a circumstance going on than the MPO?
-
I think you may be looking in to that a little deep, I'm not saying we should have no accountability or organization at a "routine" incident. In fact, I'm not even "criticizing" it as you accuse me of. It was more of a facetious remark that sometimes we can use ICS and still K.I.S.S.

Oops, thats what I meant to say

I agree. Especially when you have a mutual aid fire and all your chiefs are out of town. Uh, who is watching our backyard? And y'all have a problem with communications anyway, not that you needed an out of county person to tell you that. Who cares if the 2nd Engine's 3rd Lt. is responding? In Dutchess, chiefs (much less line officers) don't call responding, on scene. Just drop their identifier when they arrive and establish command. I agree with Bnech on not needing a chief on every call. ICS is great, but I can handle the pump out and the wires down without establishing a PIO and a Liason.

Uhh, Moggie, I think that kind of went the wrong way. I guess I'll stick to being young and trying my best everyday before I get old, jaded and lazy as that insinuates. I agree with Seth totally and you'll never catch me arguing with people or talking like a know it all.

Pretty much the worst idea I've ever heard, seeing as how the mainstream media roasts us over the coals....and now we can't talk about it amongst ourselves? Two steps back.

They send me a newsletter every month and a membership card in the mail but I don't know who signed me up or even where it is, I sure don't visit or pay dues. Is it a county wide thing?

The tax credits I'll give you. Some of those items are harmless and/or reasonable however.
