Beenthere and redneck are correct in that Alamo was never part of the Pawling fire or the EMS call in Pawling during the fire. Everyone was covered. Regarding UnionVale- Transcare is not contracted for "after contract hours" and there is no guarantee for service. They knew this during the contract talks and accepted the risk. If you want 24/7/365 coverage, you have to pay for it. The paying customers have priority. Something other providers don't understand.

Hey Mark, Having friends who are volunteers or career staff in Fairview, why wouldn't it be feasible to merge Arlington and Fairview and absorb the career staff into the Arlington ranks? With the exception of the Chief, I'm sure you could easily prove that the manpower and station are still needed and that the Station is strategically located. You would spread the tax burden over most of the Town and not have to worry about your jobs every time you need to have a budget hearing. Shawn Beresford Chief, Beekman

The same situation happened last month with the Village of Fishkill PD.

I've been fighting a battle for over 7 years about "flushing hydrants". It's not even so much knowing your District but what about mutual aid and you knowing what they have and them knowing what you have? The sad thing is that NFPA 291 is largely ignored even by "Authoritys". You have a standard for color coding and I've found very places that actually follow it. As for the NYS Fire Code requirement for flow testing annually....lol Good Luck! I wouldn't test any hydrant unless you have permission from the owner. The exact section of the Penal Law you could be charged with is "Theft of Services".

In regards to the NYC theory, Beekman was numbered in the 400's with 34-11 being former "409" and it was the highest numbered rig in Beekman. I recently read one the original proposals for the Dutchess County re-numbering schemes ('88?) and it was to be by Battalion with Battalion 1 starting with 31. At least the alpabetical numbering sequence makes sense.

We do run on all EMS calls except for Mutual Aid Given. Our brush truck is handling the EMS call assignment as the pickup truck will soon be transferred to the Highway Department. The outlets: One side will be a small refrigerator for water and the other side will be for portable radios, chargers and the like. Capability. Build the truck for its life expectancy, not just today.

Excellent stop by East Fishkill. Great job by all.

He will be MISSED. We will miss his laugh, all his stories he has told. All the emails that went through the county E-mail, even though they weren't official business. We looked forward to the Thursday's and Sunday's when we would get bombarded with email's that would make us laugh and get us through the day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. EMS has lost a great medic. Here at DCSO we lost a great friend and Officer. Dutchess County Jail

Don't believe anyone who tells you Appleton weather is the same as Dutchess. I was sick for a month after the September trip.
-
Cough Cough Second Due Cough and the trip has been postponed until February 4. Apparently it's too warm out there or something.

Thanks for the compliment. Much appreciated. I'm not sure if the Beekman folks realized it but this accident was in the same spot where 34-51 crashed and we had the LODD. This accident needs to have a different outcome for everyone's sake. DCSO has always been there for Beekman. I'm glad we were able to be there for the DCSO this time. Pray for a full and speedy recovery for Steven. Shawn Beresford Chief, Beekman Fire

In Beekman we just replaced all our portable and mobile radios. Each SCBA is assigned a portable. We had issued them to members in the past but we had inactive members who wouldn't return the radios, members who "forgot" to bring them to the scene, members who "forgot" to charge their batteries, etc. Now they are on the truck so if you have a pack, you have a fully charged functioning radio.

No apologies are necessary as it is a District vehicle. It will come back to 316 Beekman-Poughquag Road in Poughquag, NY. I'd only concerned about blocking out personal license plates as they can identify victims. On a side note, the 98 Expedition has been officially retired from the Beekman Fire District and is going to be surplused. The Suburbans are actually "silver birch" which looks brown or slightly silver depending on the light and how you look at them.

Green Haven CF still has 93-11 (an Ex-Beekman Engine) but they keep breaking it.

So ALS is making fun of the Coast Guard and Air Force eh? I wonder what service will give the Marines a ride to their next battle? As they say "The Navy dumps their trash and then the Marines pop up on shore" and "Once a jarhead, always a jarhead" GO NAVY!!!!!! 34 to ZERO!!!!

Wow. 1st you guys have these red metal things in the ground that produce copious amounts of water for firefighting and now someone comes and delivers your pizza? I really do live in the sticks

Dana Smith is the EMS Coordinator for Dutchess. Poor guy!!!!

What I find odd is that we can go to a car dealer in August and buy a 2009 Ford/Toyota/Yugo whatever but fire trucks in production that won't be completed until 2009 are still considered 2008's. Beekman has PUC that won't start on the productionline until January but when delivered it will be a 2008 Pierce. ????
-
If the building is leveled and the dumpsters are almost ready to be pulled 5 days after the fire, they've got awesome insurance!
-
This is replacing an old Chief's Car which became a staff vehicle (34-68), 1998 Ford Expedition with 100k on the odometer. The PUC (2009 Pierce) will replace 34-12 which will become 34-13 and old 34-13 will be sold off. 34-52 (old Millbrook 49-51) will become 34-67 and old 34-67 will be sold to Beekman Highway for a mechanics truck. The next truck to be replaced will be the old Millbrook Rescue truck (34-52, soon to become 67). The van is primarily for firefighter transport to class and drills but the District set it up for me so it can be used for storm events, mutual aid and so forth. As for a new Chief's vehicle; no thank you. 41 you can sit in the back though. Just put your helmet on and no licking the windows! lol Love you too.

Outside the City of Beacon, Alamo is the ALS provider and responds with BVAC. At Castle Point (T/Fishkill inside the Chelsea Fire District), you will get the BVAC BLS bus and an Alamo ALS bus.
-
And if you look at Rombout and Hughsonville, they are both strong departments in responding very quickly WITH crews. I asked a mutual aid department to take my BLS ambulance off their assignments and add my ALS ambulance because more times than not the BLS ambulance wouldn't be able to respond and it would just be wasting their time to tone it out and discover that.
-
Hughsonville- Maybe because New Hamburg sold their Tower before the new one arrived and Wappingers was out of service mechanical? Chiefs Council- Those departments don't show up at Chief's Council. Jimmy- you know better than to comment about this issue. I have a crew that watched a residential AFA go third dispatch and no equipment ever responded and it's in a career department's backyard but they were never called. The CADS ares set up by the Chiefs. The dispatchers use their discretion when something isn't addressed by the CAD or a unit assigned to that alarm is OOS.
