I believe the county gators are housed at DES. Individual departments may have them but the county operated ones are at DES only.

The Saw Mill response with Hawthorne and Thornwood is 24/7. Hawthorne and Briarcliff also just put into place a dual response on the Taconic Parkway from the Chelsea St. bridge to Pleasantville Rd.

I see and understand your point but I think this thread is serving a good purpose. I to would feel like people were bashing me and my agency at first if I were a member of the YHFD, but what you need to do is take a step back and look at the bigger picture and remove all of your personal feelings from the situation. The bottom line is the community voted this proposal down TWICE. What is being done in my eyes is VERY shady and not ethically or morally right. I am not a member of said department so I really dont know if other options were explored.(I sure hope so)It would be nice to know the complete story from someone involved in the decision making process regarding this but they do not need to come on here and answer to the EMTbravo community as they do need to answer to the tax payers and the community they were elected to serve and protect.

Hawthorne and Elmsford have a dual response to all of the buildings in the Landmark area along with the Home Depot on 9A. Hawthorne also runs dual response with Valhalla weekdays from 6am-6pm for all calls that may be structure related. (IE: possible structure fires, inside smoke/gas calls of that nature) and the same for the parkways(Sprain/Taconic) calls reported extrication and car fires. Hawthorne and Thornwood also run dual response on the Saw Mill Parkway for MVAs/ car fires.

We use the 10 year cycle for all interior firefighters. After the 10 year mark they either get transfered over to the exterior members or declared surplus depending on the condition.

At the last class I took at DES they wanted to make it very clear that they are not "chiefs" only a liaison between the IC and the DES. BUT some think they are...

No lights/sirens. There is no need to go screaming through town just to sit in someone else's HQ.

I agree that there is no rule against asking questions but if he interpreted it as I did it sounds as if you were trying to stir the pot a little.

Bnechis pretty much nailed it. It’s not hard at all to just to show up and sign your name after all the apparatus is out the door for an alarm. No matter how many changes/improvements you try to make there is always that hand full of people that look for every possible loop hole and exploit it. Bottom line is if you want to be in the VOLENTEER fire service you will do it for no gas/LOSAP/ or any other perks. Everyone knows who those people are they are the ones that are at every call, every drill and every training exercise you hold. They are the ones who are up front asking questions and participating not the guys goofing off in the back. Sorry for the rant I will get off my soap box now.
-
Its a gimmick just like LOSAP. People who are in it for the right reasons will do it and the people who aren't will continue to milk the system and contribute NOTHING to the fire service and still collect all the benefits.

I think those numbers are a little off. Mt. Pleasant has more apperatus then that. Also are you including the parts of Briarcliff,Chappaqua and Sleepy Hollow that are in the town of Mt. Pleasant?
-
When does the current list expire?
-
I think you should re check your facts before you post. Hawthorne and Valhalla are NOT getting more money from the county since 87 was removed. Hawthorne and Valhalla do in fact get money from the county but that is mostly for providing FIRE protection to the reservation on weekends and after 1530hrs on weekdays. Valhalla and Hawthorne are also required to supply drivers for the county gators when requested as part of the contract.
-
It will absolutely be a bigger burden on both Valhalla and Hawthorne EMS, more so for Valhalla because they cover a much bigger portion of the reservation. Hawthorne only covers 20 Hospital Rd (psych ER) and 110 Woods Rd (Taylor Care Center) with Valhalla covering the rest of the campus. I’m not sure what Valhalla VAC’s coverage is in terms of staffing but Hawthorne has 1 EMT on duty 24/7 with a 2nd EMT added Monday thru Friday from 0600-1800hrs. Even with this type of staffing after 1800hrs we can barely get a driver to come down forget about staffing a second bus for an additional call. I don’t know how many runs 87A1 does a year but I am sure it will have an effect on both agencies. This will also affect the ALS response to the Mt. Pleasant area. When 37M1 is out on a job 87A1 is the towns 2nd due medic. With the removal of this unit where is the 2nd medic going to come from GPD? So that will in turn take a toll on GPD as well leaving them down a medic.

This may be a stupid question but does the HFD member respond on Fairview calls as well with L1? or just Hartsdale calls?
-
Would you happen to have any of that contact info? I can't seem to find anything online.
