  1. I agree even though it may be a waste of time and manpower the fire service also has to do a lot of P.R. Going out in to the community showing there faces to the people. Showing them that they are busy and doing there jobs and not just sitting around the firehouse so when we need money people will be more willing to give it up. We as a service know that it's a lot of hard work and dedication but we also need to let the people know as well.
  2. Thank you guys very much just ordered it!
  3. I don't get it?? I mean I get the correct spelling but where is it wrong?
  4. I don't mean to jack your thread but I have a Uniden BCT15 and I seem to have pretty crappy service when scanning the North Zone and a lot of it comes in broken up, is there a new antenna that is better then the one that came with it that I could buy to increase the reception? If so does anyone have any suggestions as to a good brand?
  5. Looks great! Nice job.
  6. Is it illegal to not be a part of AAA in Pennsylvania? Back to the topic at hand I think no matter how many people you deport they are just going to keep on coming into the U.S. illegally, I'm not saying just to leave them alone but the is no way to get them all deported.
  7. LOL nah I know. Sorry to Oswego didn't mean to jump down your throat like that bad day + short temper= stupid post by me. I actually think a private forum is a good idea everyone needs to vent sometime. (like me as you can see)
  8. Anytime! Maybe you shouldn't put it in a PUBLIC forum next time.
  9. I think we see these as high because just a few years ago we were paying only a dollar and change a gallon, but $8 a gallon is crazy and at the rate we are going I'm sure we will be hitting that soon.
  10. All of your points are very true. That alog with the cost of living going up and up i.e. taxes and gas and also the the amount of training time going up vollies have a very hard time gettig out to the fire house. I am firm believer in there is no such thing as to much training but the FF1 course nearly doubled in hours compared to what it used to be people just can't dedicate that much time anymore. I think that is a good idea but I also don't see that happening anytime soon either. The bottom lie is people are struggling now to make ends meat theres no way I see people spending days and nights at the firehouse with out being paid to do it. Unforunatly it all comes down to the money issue.
  11. There are some sick people in this world how could anyone do such a thing it's disgusting!
  12. Sad to say but I don't think you will ever see that again b/c the vollies just don't have the time to do it anymore. The only thing I see happening in the future is the disbanding of volunteers and replacing them with a paid staff.
  13. Congrats to all the newbies good luck!
  14. Wow so young he had his whole life ahead of him. May he rest in peace.
  15. I would have to ask around my department but I am sure I could drum up a team is there a maximum members per team? and would it be co-ed
  16. I have to agree with you here. I've heard many people on this site say there are always 2 sides to every story. I'm not saying that this isn't complete bull b/c who knows maybe it is someone just trying to get rich quick and if thats the case this person should rot in hell. Coming from a family of funeral directors and I myself deal with death and families who have just lost a love one on a daily biases do to my job I have to say I deal with death a lot unfortunately. Some people can handle it better then others and I can easily see how someone can get really screwed up in the head after seeing something that traumatic. I've seen it many times with poeple who come into my job months and even years after the death poeple are still not the same. In the buisness I am in(selling memorials) my clients tell me all sorts of stories that you wouldn't even begin to think of. People deal with things in many different ways and most of the time it will stay with you for the rest of your life. Emergency service workers are trained and like vacguy said always have that in the back of there minds that they could very well be involved in a traumatic situation so I think they protect themselves a little better. Just my opinion.
  17. I don't see why not dispatchers are just as important as the people who are on scene. I think they deserve some credit too.
  18. May he R.I.P. Bless his soul.
  19. I have never had a problem with asking for assistance from anyone just the other week I was driving the ambulance on an MVA and our crew asked if anyone could help with CPR and the officer gladly volunteered himself and rode the call in to the hospital with our crew and assisted with CPR so the emt could take a break and work on other things.
  20. I don't think anyone here is saying that they can't afford to vollie anymore. I think people are just venting some of their frustrations. Everyone goes through that every once in a while. I would bet my life that YOU do the same. Why don't you relax a little and get off your high horse! I am sure it's not only people who volunteer that are complaining either open your eyes a little bro and stop being so narrow minded.
  21. I don't really see what getting a pool pass has to do with it but I do have to say I agree with the second part of your post. I agree that all city, town and village workers should get a free tank of gas a week but don't really ever see that happening anytime soon. They do get the gas at a discounted rate plus most of those workers in my opinion are under paid for the work that they do anyway.
  22. In San Diego regular gas was going for $4.23 a gallon. I just filled up my jeep yesterday in White Plains and it cost me $78.00 for I think it was about 18 gallons. It's getting crazy I really want to get rid of my SUV and go back to my nice Honda that got like 21 miles to the gallon.
  23. Another bad intersection on 9a where there needs to be a traffic light is 9a and Stormytown Rd I have a friend who lives off that exit and I feel like I am goin to die coming Northbound and making a left onto Stormytown. What will it take for them to wake up and do something about it.
  24. Usually an application fee right??
  25. Lets go Yankees!!!
