I have to disagree with you there are plenty of jobs to do outside the fire scene for example changing packs, hitting a hydrant, set up a rehab station, size up of a building, ladder a building, etc etc. Of course an interior firefighter could do all of theses jobs as well but I would rather have them inside fighting the fire and doing searches and so on. Just my opinion. As for the original question my department requires 5 nights of in house training, a captain's test and then successful completion of FF1.

How can anyone survive on $1.75 worth of food a day?!?! I mean I agree that they are criminals and don't deserve meals from a 5 star restaurant but seriously $1.75 a day AND people are making money off the deal!

I know it's getting kind of late but my department just decided to RSVP to Ossining's parade and our usual band is booked for that day. So my question is can anyone here suggest a good band that I can get in touch with and try to book them for that day? Any help or suggestions would be great thank you in advance.

I think it is a great idea for visibility. I was down at Ruscon today picking up one of our engines and I saw the Town of Mamaroneck's Engine 51 and that has it on the back of the rig. Looks very good.
