Anyone know what happened I guess in the Bedford area? The requested them to set up a landing zone but I haven't heard what it was for?? Anyone know??

So I got my new antenna the other day and when I put it on the antenna points out of the back where as the original antenna pointed up. Did I order the wrong one b/c now I can't put it in front of a wall or anything because it comes like 12" out the back. Kind of annoying!

I use the BCT-15 and I think it's a great scanner VERY hard to set up manually like Jack said but I do not have any other complaints.

ohh ok thank you I heard the ems call go out but my scanner was breaking up a lot so I didn't hear the actual request from the crew. Thank You.

I was told recently to use starter fluid/ether I just purchased some yesterday and I will try it out on a small piece today I will let you know how it works. Again I have never tried this so if you do it before I do only use it on a small piece first.

I don't know about other departments but we don't roll and engine or ladder with only exterior firefighters, we wait till we have a driver an officer and at least 3 interior firefighters(if possible). I know your next question is going to be what if they don't show up? I don't know the answer to that I guess we will cross that bridge when it comes.(Hopefully it will never come) I do not know the answer to that question. I don't know what the community knows or doesn't know about the fire dept but I am sure you are right they all probably think that all members are interior firefighters. Agreed! I am kind of on the fence about your last statement I feel we do the same job as a whole but there is a lot more to being a career firefighter then a vollie. I.E. Training. (This is my opinion only)

I know most vollie depts. do this at their annual inspection.

I never understood why EMS gets paid so little. I feel for you guys, it's a VERY important and vital job. Why not get paid like it is. I hate to say it, but thats one of the biggest reasons I never really wanted to get into that field. I feel like I could never survive on that kind of salary. Most EMTs and medics I know work 2-3 jobs and a crazy amount of hours just to get by.

Are rules going to be sent out at all? Are we going to receive any info on the muster for example if we got in or not? I know my money must have got to you like a day or 2 late.

Yea I guess thats true never really thought of that. I am sure they aren't buying fresh food either that probably saves them money as well.

In my department on one engine we have a booster reel in the back of the engine with the electric button and it never gets used. On our other engine we have a trash line in the front bumper that consists of 1 length of 1" that we used all the time(not on fully involved structure fires) but it does get its fair share of use for small brush fires, dumpster fires etc. Personally I love the trash line it works wonders for many types of jobs its quick to deploy and quick to pack up.
