I saw some type of hoopla at the house on 119 Friday morning around 1100. Nothing on local news although CBS had a van there.

It all depends on why you are getting stopped. I sure if you are being stopped for a trivial infraction, the scanner is off and you explain the reason you have it their shouldnt be a problem. If you are being a wiseguy and the officer is looking for a reason to issue more summonses then thats a different story. Im sure a lot depends on your demeanor.

Seems like WP is becomming more like a inner city hospital. Looks like they have more PA's around doing triage. Having the PA's triage ambulance patients is going a lot faster than the RNs. My biggest gripe about WP is that the RNs ignore you when you are awaiting triage. The PA's are a lot more on the ball.

Looks like MTA has changed their base coat to Grey / Silver. Scarsdale MTA and WP do all have the same striping now.

The actual departments get the results in the summer. Canidates dont get their score until September or October. Mike

To be honest....I thought the show stunk,,,not too realastic...especially compared to law and order...

What type of legal issues do you forcast. Seems like everybody and their mother is running around with some type of shield. At least now they will all be uniform. Many guys get the old NYC EMS shields made to carry now.

Not to knock BLS but I believe it is a true waist of resorces to send a medic to a hand laceration, especially when the dispatcher knows it is a 5-10 min ETA for a fly car. The problem is that alot of people are afraid to use EMD because they dont want to be blamed for not sending a medic.

They are dispatched my WPPD. Designated as AMB 1 & AMB 2.

How do airline lavatorys work? Dont they have a holding tank? Mike

Plain English is the way to go ....why confuse everybody with ecco bravo charlie etc...

Some of the other St Vincents hospitals in the outer bouroughs used to use vans such as St. Marys in Brooklyn.

How about billing? Will the city be able to charge more for transports because they will be taken ALS? I wonder if that has anything to do with the decision.
-
Well it works in Westchester. Most of our systems have just one medic with EMTs or even just a "driver" as their partner.
-
I guess the story got enough media coverage to make the state and county act!

Just wondering if any local departments are organizing any type of fund food cloths drive for the Tsunami victims? Im afraid that soon we will be hearing of all kinds of scams with money going to the wrong places. I personally am going to donate to the Redcross.

Only problem is how does the officer chase the guy down when he is on an emergency scene?

Some parts of Scarsdale known as Edgemont is in Greenburgh

Just wondering about the radios in the photo of 38-M1. Why are there 3 seperate radios? What frequency ranges do they cover?

How does Fairview FD recieve their 911 fire calls and automated alarm calls? Whenever I hear them toned out and dispatched by their HQ they call on scene within 30 seconds. Do the dispatch themselves in house prior to putting the call over 46.26?
-
I believe Fairview FD has a county owned foam trailer.

Was, Im refering to sarcasim etc in the radio traffic. Alot of it seems unnecessary especially when a self dispatching agency has their trucks all within a mile or two I belive a simple 10-4 would do.
-
x635, Guess we were listening at the same time. Guess that why I came up with my last post. Too much nonsence on the air. I also blame the self dispatching FDs. They seem to drag out radio communications when not necessary. "unit xxx1 onscn 10-4 unit xxx1, Unit xxx2 onscn 10-4 unit xxx2, and so on.

I dont care who has them, just making an observation

FYI While watching the news @ noon I saw that a NYPD ESU truck has a half red half blue set up.
