  1. his hot dogs are pretty good. but then so again is his class. we used it as part of or probie class.
  2. blkcloud again you have hit the nail on the head-- it seems though that some departments are still stuck passing things on from chief to chief and year to year. we have to break the chain-- some departments are circiling the drain just spinning their wheels. some departments are very progressive--- here though and I knowe some of you will think i'm crazy but what the hell the vol organizations need to be unionzied---- In the firefighters union I.A.F.F. the bigger unions help the smaller ones. the ones that are in the forfront help bring the other ones up to them so that every one is on the same page and fighting for the same things. question is how do you bring a department up to meet the requirements of todays modern firefightering techinques?? big truck certinaly dont do it!! Its training training training. just my thoughts dont come down too hard on me please im very sensitive
  3. Hudson This wont interfere with any fishing will it?? Is the hot dog stand down for the winter??
  4. I gotta reply to some of this before emt bravo cuts us off. training is training-lets all get on the same page. Chief Mancusi said a lot and it goes a long way. We must put our egos aside and we should. lets remember what we are really in the business for--PROTECT LIVES- PROTECT PROPERTY. Am I at least right on that-- I hope so. Wether you'r in Hawthorne or Tarrytown its the people-- the citizens we are to protect-- we owe it to them, we owe it to our selves to be the best trainied firefighters that we can be. Firefighter 1 and 2 are headed in the right direction. Cuffs I aggre with you that the Tarrtown situation is an unusual one. I can only hope that they can move foward and progress so that the Tarrytown F.D. again earns the respect of the firefighting community. I will go out on a limb here and say that any department that needs help with OSHA compliance ,mask fit tests, physicals, or what ever training they need, the County will be more then willing to meet them more then half way, but they must be able to help them selves and realize that mabey, just mabey some of their traditions are a little too far in the past and shoud be updated Just me thoughts State Instructor 6030
  5. apparenty you have nothingbetter to do !!!!!!!! go read a book or something firecapt32
  6. apparently we are doing somthing right wether your in class 03-2005 or 2000-1 you never forget, who was in the class or who taught the class and always remember the learning experience
  7. Glad to see that the system works. 2 weeks is a very hard class to instruct. It crunches a lot of material into a short period of time. It takes a lot of work and dediciation on both the Instructors and the students the class couldn't have had better instructors .
  8. notice how quiet I have been during all this. Hey i'm glad Kittles is catching fires, as long as he stays safe. He was a asset to the class- all of them caught his attitude. ALS you know how I feel you can team up with me anytime. We produced a good product--I just hope the Chiefs and Officers from the Departments can build on that. Probie classes come and probie classes go--It will take some time for the 03-2005 to have its right full place in the long line of probie classes but i'm willing to bet it produces a lot of fine Fire Officers and Chief in the future. Check back in a few years when some of them are taking promotion exams. look back on the wall in the Training center and count how many of past probie class have produced Officers and Chiefs. All of us connected with the probie class- past or present should be proud of what we have accompolished.
  9. didnt mean to start a argument just needed some clarification on the subject.
  10. today the fire service lost an icon --Fank Braggian died at his home yesterday. Frank was the initial speaker for BurnCare Everywhere Foundation inc Seminars. Frank wrote about a lot of things but he is best know for his intimate knowledge of buildings and building construction. Any fireghter in todays age of light weight building should have read one of Franks books. He has written for Firehouse for many years. his expertise will be missed by all that knew him may he rest in peace for he will always be remembered "KNOW YOUR ENEMY AND THE BUILDING IS YOUR ENEMY" firecapt32
  11. OkOk here my 2 cents guys firefighter one has been offered in a 2 week block last year between the county and the state there were at least 4 2 week sessions. this year the schedule calls for at least that many--- there has already been a firefighter on 2 week this yr. so it there guys if there is a demand for more day time classes please let the County know they are offering a daytime Intro to fire officer in week 2 of feb and a daytime fireofficer one in the third week of feb come and get em

  13. Any new list will not be valiated untill Yonkers offeres the 12 positions. thats what the Department of justice has stated. The number 12 canadate has to be offered the job. when that happens the list will no longer be valid and any subsecuence list will take effect. how long that will take is any bodies guess.

  18. As director of class 03-2005 I just feel thatthey deserved some sort of recognization from either the papers or channel 12 news. I know the papers are anti union- but these guys deserve better. 14 weeks 8 am to 4 pm heres a partial list of what they accompolished firefighter 1 firefighter 2 Haz-mat F.A.S.T. Firefighter survival E.V.O.C. A.V.E.T. Eng Company operations Ladder ops Aerial Devices plus a host of other training They are well prepared to face the red devil thet should have had something in the papers. 21. you have to be at least a level one State Instructor for concideration for county employment. Most of us are Level 2 National Certified Instructors. Hope that helps
  22. The EMS pepole in the county meet every week or so at the traing center to go over the calls. mabey something can be set up that way. any and all chiefs can detail what happened and why they did things the way they did. We can all learn form them. We can look at the situation and mabey help them in return. just a thought
