  3. Well put. As most have seen it's the fire departments who spec the units not the builders as they are build they way they are told.
  4. Rosenbauer America is made up of: Central States quickly grew to a company of 230 dedicated employees with 120,000 sq. ft. of production area producing hundreds of units annually. Today, Rosenbauer Central Division produces a full line of apparatus including pumpers, tankers, rescue vehicles, aerials, and specialty vehicles. In 1995, General Safety formed a partnership with Rosenbauer International, who is headquartered in the town of Linz, Austria. Rosenbauer is also a family owned company, and has been in business for over 130 years. With production sites and/or partnerships in over 14 countries worldwide, Rosenbauer is one of the largest and most respected companies in our field. In 1998, another partnership was formed with Central States Fire Apparatus of Lyons, South Dakota. While General Safety’s emphasis is still on customized vehicles, the partnership with Central has provided the company with the combined largest product line in the industry. In 1988, Rob and Pam Kreikemeier founded R.K. Aerials with only three employees and a 5,000 square-foot building. Today, the company employs 80 professionals working in a 40,000 square-foot facility. The Rosenbauer Aerials Division produces the highest quality aerial ladders and platforms available in mid-mount or rear-mount designs. They offer ladders in 60, 75 and 109 ft. lengths, and platforms in 85 or 104 ft. lengths. Click here to view Rosenbauer Aerials video.

  6. Up here in Nova Scotia sometimes two ambulances will respond on an emergency call. The first is code 1 and the second is code 2. The reason behind it is for ease of extricating the patient from the residence. It is sometimes easier with 4 Paramedics versuses two. Especially when oxygen and IV's are required. Most of the 300 fire departments do not do MFR so EHS NS is on it's own unless an agreement is in place with the area fire department. Plus out of the 300 fire departments only about 10 have paid staff and the rest are volunteer.
  7. I agree - Up here in Nova Scotia it's either lights and siren Code 1 or no lights and siren code 2. Also on/off topic I have been in Massachusetts where some fire departments return to the station after a call with lights on and no siren. Question is WHY???
  8. I agree the roto ray would be distracting in traffic
  9. It used to be called Almonte Fire Apparatus
  10. Just remember what everyone thought of the Pierce Quantum and that is still around.
  11. There are four other manufacturers up here in Canada. Tri Star Industries right here in Yarmouth where I live: http://www.tri-star.ca/ They product all the ambulances used in the provinces of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island on a long term lease contract. That is the ambualnces are used for three years and 60, 000 KMS and switched and exchanged. Malley's in New Brunswick: http://www.malleyindustries.com/ They produce the ambulances in New Brunswick under a province wide contract. Crestline in Saskatchewan: http://www.crestlinecoach.com/ Medevac: http://www.medevac-rescue.com/
  12. That's what I thought about the Pierce Quantum but it grows on you after a while so give it a chance.

  16. Low bid means it all depends on who is paying the bill. One department up here had a committee to spec a truck and changes were made that the committee were not happy about but since they don't pay the bill it's up to town council who approves the tender. THe other question is How many town Fathers and councillors actually have ever used the truck being spec'd
  17. If it is a Sutphen by spec why put it out for others to bid on. It sounds like there mind is already made up. Other manufacturers don't have to bid unless they want to.
  18. I would say it comes down t whoever wrote the word neutral on the control panel in the new spot and or got the cables repaired
