Their are pros and cons to both to both of them. A custom chassis you pay more for and a commerical chassis is cheap. It all depands on what your department want and your department can afford personal i have riden in both and i like them the same.

I think it should be both because thier are times when i get her my pager go off plus it is better because their are time when i just hear the page but do not here where we are going and stuff or what the call is. Oh BOY here it goes My ladder would be a seagrave 100 foot tiller truck I would have two Seagrave Marauder pumper that has a 1250gpm/750 gal tank both trucks having roll up side compartment my third pumper would be a 1988 Mack CF Custom Class A Pumper 1250gpm/500 gal tank that has be refeurbed with an enclosed cab and roll up side doors My resuce would be a seagrave cab and chassis of a Marauder that has a till front the back would be a 20 foot walk thur rescue body form Marion the utility would be a SVI Air and Light unit on a international chassis my three cheif cars are very simple 1 subarban 1 yukon and one ford extened cab pick up if you want to know any more information about my trucks just ask me and i will tel you
