  1. Here's some suggestions for the topics: RIT AKA FAST: What we need to cover our back Forcible Entry: Have a photo of a bad place to force entry and discuss how to gain entry MCI: What everybody needs to know about an MCI - have somebody from EMS field lead this topic These any good? Mike
  2. ...but you might bring the whole building down with it, seeing as it is abandoned!
  3. Well, it depends if the Dept. has the resources. Mike
  4. I know I'm answering my own question here, but why not torch the hinges off or break the brick around the lock with a heavy sledge? The only problem with torching it is that the door may fall back on the FF cuttin, and that won't be too pretty. Mike
  5. I'll take pants anyday! Then again, I'm only an explorer. Mike
  6. When I was little, there was a playground I went to that was made of WOOD and PEBBLES were on the ground. A 'stairway' that went up to a second level had steps made of TIRES. THAT WAS IT. You fall through that hole, you fell about 5 feet onto pebbles. That was removed about 7 years ago. The whole place was destroyed about 4 or 5 years ago for a PLASTIC playground. Damn lawsuits. That was a fun playground. Mike
  7. Me either! Mike
  8. Population: 16,200 Stations: 1 HQ station staffed 24/7 and 1 sub-station staffed when allowed. Personnel: 27 Full Time, 17 Paid-on-call. Good luck finding us. Mike
  9. Well, you could solve this problem with a 'sport' mode, or 'subject in motion' if you have a regular digital. However, I don't know how to solve this problem on Digital SLR cameras. I'm going to defer to photounit, Seth, or anyone else who has an SLR camera. Mike
  10. What kind of Camera do you have? Mike
  11. How about a 1966 Mack C model? I really don't get why both of these Macks were placed in bad spots for photos. THEY'RE MACKS FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD! Front: Side
  12. A side shot of a BEAUTIFUL 1957 MACK B. I really wish I could've gotten a better shot of it. The area around the B was cramped. Here's the front:
  13. Anybody want a bulldog or 2? The actual apparatus will be up shortly.
  14. Here's some more shots of that 1968 Maxim. The whole Front End: Here's a side shot. Here's a 1942 General/Chevrolet Brush Truck More to come later. MUCH MORE! Mike
  15. I got some more for you all. 1. A 1939 Sanford 2. A 1916 American LaFrance Type 33 3rd. A little taste of the front end of a Maxim S model Mike
  16. I thought they gave back all the apparatus to the CFD when Backdraft's filming was over? Well, except for the one they flipped. Is that the one being burned. Awesome movie by the way. Simply INCREDIBLE. Mike
  17. Looking at the Medix website, under recent deliveries, there's an ambulance for Eastchester EMS with ID 57(?)B1. Mike
  18. Some more: The Front end of a 1974 Cadillac Ambulance. I have a 3/4 of this thing, but the front end looks SWEET in person! An old Steamer: A 1965 American LaFrance Salvage Light Wagon A 1966 Young Youngster. That's all for now. Mike
  19. Sorry to hijack the thread, but.....(aw who am I kidding, this is what would've eventually happened anyway ) What EXACTLY does OSHA's 2 in/2 out rule state? 2 Firefighters inside and 2 firefighters stand-by outside? Does that same rule multiply by however many FFs are inside? Jonesy, HFD, take a word from Massachusetts. Most Volunteer fire departments around here have a full time Chief, hired by the town's selectmen. As far as I know, there's NO elections up here. I'll have to check though. Mike
  20. It appears to me that everytime a new apparatus is posted here (in the photo section) it seems that some are chief cars. That being said, I AM NOT BASHING ANY CHIEFS HERE OR THOSE WHO DO THE OUTFITTING. As a Massachusetts teen, I've never seen so many chief cars being delivered in a year EVER around here. My questions are the following: Do we really need this many chiefs? Why not save the money for other apparatus (Engines, Ladders [stick and TL], rescues, and ambulances)? Do you really need to replace that 5 year old chief car and keep that 20 year old engine in service? Mike
  21. Does the Capt and Lieuts. have their own officer's car? Or do they ride the engine/truck/rescue? If they only have radio IDs assigned that's fine, but if they have a car too, that's a waste. Mike
  22. When I say 20 y/o apparatus I'm talking about the one that's OOS more than it is IN SERVICE and/or has SEVERE rust issues. Mike
  23. Never said it wasn't! But why bother spending over 10 dollars a a single cup? I don't feel that amount is justified. Mike
  24. I don't see what the big f-n deal is. So ya gotta walk farther to get your $40 mocachino. Big whoop. Then again, this is coming from a guy who doesn't drink coffee. Mike
