In New Fairfield mutual aid is usually called by the 4th tone, depending on the type of call. We wait 2 minutes between tones, so thats 8 minutes without a response. Though we usually can have at least an officer on the air to give an assessment/size-up, and he/she will request mutual aid earlier if it is nessecary. You will never see career FDs in most of Putnam County, they don't have the call volume to require it.

ICE has a program to partner with local law enforcement called ACCESS. Danbury, CT Police are considering a partnership to have access to immigration status information. The process is somewhat more complicated, but I don't know all the details.

I've got mixed feelings about this script. It may create alot more duplication of topics in the near future, but I do get annoyed when old topics that are beaten to death are brought back. If it becomes a problem in the future, can the membership have the script removed?

Kudos to a few departments that realize their limitations and attempt to WORK TOGETHER to accomplish a task. Good story.

Too bad I don't have an NYS license and I'm an Explorer in CT. Otherwise that would be a good deal, since DEP in CT doesn't hire seasonal rangers, only maintenance and lifeguards...

As of tonight Empire is still running the ALS service for Putnam County. No idea on whether or not that's permanent.

I don't like the Giants, but I would love to see Tom Brady cry. GO GIANTS.

Yeah, in portions of Fairfield County there is also the Northwest Regional HAZMAT team that operates. So don't get too hung up on the "county" thing. Its most of the larger districts in the county, Danbury being the most obvious exception. Alot of the teams in the state are broken up into C-MED regions. Us guys from CT are still trying to figure out what the hell is going on.

Simple solution: Call a wrecker. No parking in front of a firehouse. That would teach the Chief...

In New Fairfield, I believe the rule is that a Chief may take his department vehicle to work provided he works within 20 miles of the district. I believe its 20, but don't hold me to that. I know the Board of Directors came up with some number to make sure privledges won't be abused. I don't know of an instance in which any NF Chief has abused his Chief car perk, so I guess it was sort of a pre-active move...

I guess I'll have to have my buddy take me on a tour of the old quarters sometime soon before its OOS.

As a Danbury Police Explorer, I've had the opportunity to compete against and work with GPD Explorers on multiple occasions, and they've always posed a formidible challenge. (Though gpdexplorer can account to how badly Suffolk County dominates regional competitions...) A loss of any Explorer post, much less that's really coming along like Greenburgh would be a loss to the Explorer Community regionwide. Hopefully they will make it out alright.

You asked the question bro.

You're not the only one that will be coming home from school in this weather. We can hope for clear weather together... haha.

I used to live in Marlboro, NY and I'm proud to know these guys were protecting me. Great job brothers.

West Haven, CT Center District Engine 24 has also implemented the "dots" for increased visibility on I-95. I'll try to find a picture to post.

Its impossible to make normal water burn though. H20 cannot oxidize, therefore it cannot technically "burn."

The training I've recieved (which is limited, though I have taken part in some active shooter scenarios) has always taught me that the "Wait for SWAT" mentality must be abandoned after incidents like Colombine and VA Tech. From what I understand, the accepted tactical view on things like this is that regular patrol officers have to make the initial assault and be backed up by tactical assets as they arrive. Someone whose a real cop can either back me up on that or correct me. I don't think that really goes to damage OpSec, its a pretty well established idea...

As RescueKujo previously mentioned, the Bomb Squad is a mulit-agency effort from the PD and FD.

If another religious group wants to put up decorations in front of town hall, they could do that. But don't take away Christmas decorations becuase you like complaining.

Congrats bro, learn EVERYTHING that you can and take every course they will pay for!

DEA does have a special HAZMAT/tactical unit for this as well. They came to New Fairfield a few years back for a meth lab raid.
