  1. Good luck Brother, stay safe, and get some for us.
  2. New Fairfield, CT High School just started it this past year. Seems to be working OK.
  3. But proper training will also prevent FFs from being injured at a car fire as well. Proper approach angle, etc will greatly diminish your chances of being injured. Why dump all that water from a deck gun that creates more hazardous runoff when a simple 1 3/4" can knock it down much faster?
  4. Figured this would be a good article, alot of people don't know this about Danbury's Police station, its quite an interesting bit of history, I first learned about this when I joined the Police Explorers back in 2004 and we did a tour of the building.
  5. http://extras.mnginteractive.com/live/medi...0538_pardue.pdf http://extras.mnginteractive.com/live/medi...0538_pardue.pdf Same source as earlier, off the same link, they just posted these a few days ago. One of the brothers was shot to death, another was sentenced to federal prison, don't know for how long.

  8. HAZMAT 1, are they eligible for the 12%?
  9. Man, and I just left West Haven this week. Oh well, I'm sure we'll get a chance to take a look when the West Haven train station opens up.
  10. I don't care what he did for the fire service, the man killed someone, then tried to cover it up. There's nothing uneducated about my saying that. He's a snake, he always has been a snake, and he always will be a snake. He can't buy back his soul no matter how much good he tries to do in Washington.
  11. That will make two of us. Kennedy is akin to a murderer in my book.
  12. New Haven still runs two 3" lines for supply, I don't know of anyone else off the top of my head that does.
  13. I MIGHT actually consider taking the test now...
  14. Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona has been doing the same thing for years. Look him up, he has some very interesting programs.
  15. It would, however, increase the ability of volunteers to get out the door, if they are all out of one station they are more likely to have the required manpower to get a truck out the door, whatever that may be.
  16. To be interior in New Fairfield, CT I believe you need the following: 1. CT State Firefighter 1 or equivalent 2. Up to date OSHA Bloodborne/Airborne Pathogens 3. OSHA HAZMAT Operational (refreshed within 1 year) 4. NIMS Basic 5. Up to date CPR
  17. Is it sad that I got that joke considering my age? (19 years old) Good movie.
  18. Personally I think they work very well for chimney fires in conjunction with a special chimney snuffer nozzle. I've used them quite a few times with success. They are also great for small brush fires and/or illegal burns, shorten the cleanup time significantly. I don't think they have gone out to pasture, I think its used much more often than the deck gun mounted atop alot of other engines.
  19. I can understand the need for internal investigations, but this seems alittle rediculous, and a gross misuse of public funds.
  20. Yesterday afternoon, Fire Explorer Ralph Russo of the West Haven "Center District" Fire Department Explorer Program was killed (off duty) when his bike was struck by an oncoming car in an intersection. I'll have more details on Explorer Russo when I have access to them. Rest in Peace Brother.
  21. Rest in Peace Brother.
  22. Service Arrangements are as follows: Wake: Thursday May 8, 2008 West Haven Funeral Home 662 Savin Avenue West Haven, CT 4PM-6PM Funeral Mass: Friday May 9, 2008 Our Lady of Victory Church 600 Jones Hill Road West Haven, CT 11AM I will find out if its a uniformed event or not.
  23. UPDATE: Chief of Department O'Brien alluded to News Channel 8 that he was most likely responding to a Motor Vehicle Accident in the Center District of West Haven at the time. Not unlikely, since Ralph had a scanner permanently attached to his hip and I've seen the kid respond more than a mile on his bike to a call before. I'm not 100% certain as to whether or not the department is giving him Line of Duty Death status, I'll update as soon as I find out. I'll update on service arrangements as they are available as well.
  24. Apparently some of Ralph's friend have told WFSB News that Ralph may have been chasing a fire call. I finally saw a picture of the kid on the WFSB website, I worked a call with him about 3 weeks ago, a brush fire. The kid helped immensely with the water supply operation, which freed up some of the Allingtown career and volunteer guys to fight the fire. Here's a link to the WFSB page that has his picture and a short clip about him. http://www.wfsb.com/news/16174793/detail.html
  25. I'd imagine so, since they are wanting to overhaul all aspects of government.
