  1. Thanks for the good luck wish ALS. Books came to just over $500 for me this year. Starting my Sophomore year at the University of New Haven for Fire Science-Administration with a minor in Criminal Justice. Good luck to all the others.
  2. Back on topic, the LTs car was recovered at a Senior complex in New Haven today. No word on whether his gear was in it.
  3. Wait, why is this in the Putnam County thread? Allingtown Engine 8, West Haven Engine 23 and West Haven Truck 26 are going.
  4. This literally occured right outside my apartment building... 2nd carjacking in a few months in this area. Good thing I drive a piece of crap 93' Ford Exploder! Best of luck to the LT, and I hope they find your car soon.
  5. Alot of communities in CT have gotten their avid CB and Ham operators together to work with emergency management agencies, Danbury included.
  6. Wow, with the Sleepy Hollow suicide and the Norwalk one, I hope the attention of the police administrations in this area is brought to police-suicide and mental health. Condolences to the officers family and comrades.
  7. Feel better bro.
  8. While roofsopen's opinion is alittle extreme, I would have to agree with the idea that anybody still left in the city is crazy, stupid or a combination thereof. The entire idea of a city 15 feet below sea level was dumb, that that's really the French's fault, not ours. The city has informed anyone who is thinking about staying in the city that no emergency services are promised to them in the event it gets as bad as it should. Now, provided Ray Nagin can keep his "Chocolate City" comments to himself, this shouldn't be as big of a government embarassment as the last major hurricane.
  9. I can't remember the name of the EMS agency, but one of the private ambulance services in NYC sent 5 buses and 15 crewmembers down in advance. Looks like everyone is pitching in nicely, hopefully none of this will need to be used though.
  10. Simple solution, when a fire happens, put the line through the window.
  11. I've gone for the past 2 years, I'll probably go again.
  12. So does APSU just do the medical/rescue type side of ESU work?
  13. Congrats to the NYPD! Now I'm REALLY thinking about the test...
  14. Why E58, do career firefighters not set fires? Firefighter arson is not SOLELY a volunteer phenomenon. More volunteers get arrested for it because there are more volunteers than career guys out there, so I'll be willing to bet the averages are close to even.
  15. Really Beekman? Whatever gave you that idea... haha. I'm not into the whole religious propaganda thing, so I think I'll steer clear of this one.
  16. Gave him one on facebook already, but Happy Birthday man!
  17. I know of very few unions that do not support democratic candidates.
  18. If you used a lightly colored mat, then everyone could see how dirty they are, and we wouldn't want that, now would we? This situation is rediculous.

  20. If you aren't excited going to a fire there's probably something wrong with you. Its how you act when you're excited that shows your training and experience.
  21. I did post about this a few weeks ago... Good to see someone found a pic though.
  22. I was checking out Putnam Lake FD's website (www.plfd.org) since they got their new tanker and I came across this... http://www.plfd.org/Apparatus/23-4-1new.html It would be interesting to see what the truck looks like after the refurb. Old 23-4-1 was in pretty good condition, and Stowlowski never disappoints with the looks of their vehicles, so thats one for you Westchester photographers to keep an eye out for.
  23. While I conceed that I do not have vast experience and training in emergency services yet, I am still relatively new, it should also be noted that there are certain "senior" people in the emergency services community who are resistant to change by younger generation... vis a vis the "this is the way we've always done it" crowd. Experience can lead to arrogance sometimes that resists safety precautions. I'm not trying to start a fight, but a stubborn senior firefighter can be just as dangerous as a stubborn junior one. Food for thought.
  24. I think it should happen for people who have repeat activated alarms due to poor maintenance or installation. We definitely have a candidate for that here in New Fairfield...
  25. Caught it at 12:45, did NOT expect it to be that long, but WELL worth it. Also, that magic trick part was just... well, awesome. Everyone, go out and see this movie, now. Incredible movie, incredible cast, great story. Just see it ASAP. Not that I'm saying I'm exactly in the right mind, but I had always HATED Heath Ledger's acting, so I was quite apprehensive about him playing the Joker, so he was definitely not the reason I saw this. Gotta hand it to him, he definitely delivered in this performance, the Joker was creepy as hell, but very very entertaining.
