Also, I must disagree with the naming of this thread. This isn't REVERSE bias or REVERSE discrimination. Discrimination doesn't only exist if you are a minority, and it doesn't get renamed if you aren't a minority. Sorry to nitpick, but this is an issue I feel very strongly about.

I was going to post this, you beat me! Yeah, the mayor of New Haven is a slimeball, and I know this case has disheartened alot of the guys who wanted to apply for New Haven, because nobody thinks they can get hired if they are white. Discrimination like what happened to these guys in the NHFD is deplorable. I hope the courts find for the New Haven 20.

Happy Birthday Marines, and a Happy Veteran's Day to all our servicemen and women. Thank you all for your sacrifice.

Holy crap... thats alot of tools. Looks like an extremely well outfitted rig. Best of luck to YFD USAR with it. Now will YPD ESU be part of this USAR team as well, or just YFD personnel?

Wait wait wait wait. WHAT?!?!? A national domestic defense force? Like NATIONAL POLICE?!?!?!? Isn't that a big no-no against states' rights? We have an FBI, we have DHS, we have ATF, etc... another national law enforcement bureaucracy will do us no good, just increase the ranks fo the ones we have now, and get the politics out of them.

SpartanML, who said that? That was a very good quote. It sounds like something Alexis de Tocqueville would say, but I don't know for sure. Either way, can we start an In Memoriam thread for Capitalism? Its funny how things worked out. The Democrats always claimed that the Republicans were creating false fears to circumvent the Constitution. "He who gives up liberty for security deserves neither" -Ben Franklin I believe. But as soon as the economy goes in the john, the Democrats fearmonger themselves into looking like rockstars. Please explain, how can you increase social services but lower taxes? I'm not an economics major, but I can add. You need revenue to spend the kind of outlandish money he wants to spend (cutting tuition by 50% across the board, universal healthcare, etc.) How does he expect to pay for this. Also, I am extremely disheartened by the fact that the White House, Senate, and House are controlled by Democrats. No one party should have that much power. Unfortunately it will be "interesting" to see how things go from here. I will finish with another interesting quote: "Power corrupts, absolute power is actually pretty neat." -John Lehman

Guess I'll have to look out for this on Rt. 34 when I'm on my way to and from school. Nice car...

I gotta say, its hard to argue that you are short of manpower when you have a shopping cart retrieval unit... Greenburgh is a good department, but they could definitely use their resourses better.

International Code Council (ICC) is including it in their fire codes for 2011 I believe. Firehouse magazine's website made a big deal about it. ICC codes are applied in Connecticut, so that means every new residential property WILL be sprinklered. See how the water companies and insurance companies like that though. Remember, insurance companies don't see fire damage or water damage, they just see money that has to be paid out. I wouldn't be suprised if we continued to see resistance on this issue, even if it is a smart move.

Top radio is high band. (FD1, FD2, OEM, PD, Board of Ed, Public Works, and I think thats it) Middle is probably NF low band and fire police (though it could be the bottom one one) Bottom is probably Putnam Lake (though it could be the middle one)

Best of luck to the injured Brother, I hope for a speedy recovery.

Specialty Warning Systems did outfit the truck. Texastom, there is only one Chief of Department in New Fairfield who represents all 3 stations. Each company plus EMS has an Assistant Chief, but they operate their personally owned vehicles with department radio, lightbar, and siren. Hope that answers your question. The new Car 1 looks very similar to a New Haven Chief vehicle.

This would be a great idea. Having to drive to Fairfield or Windsor Locks for a class is rediculous, especially if you want to take a weeklong class or something. Having a regional school in Danbury would be a great benefit to all the surrounding towns, maybe I would finally be able to get my HAZMAT Tech...

Rest in Peace

And people wonder why cops are pissed off and don't trust the media, courts or government, because they put pressure to do stupid crap like this.
-
Question, is that the same rig that became Putnam County BOES HAZMAT 1?
-
Production shots of the soon-to-be New Fairfield Fire Car 1 are up on the NFVFD website. 2008 Ford Expedition, will be "sisters" with a new NF Police Expedition (town got a deal for buying both trucks together.) NFVFD

I don't know the date, as I am at school, not in town, but it appears it will be soon. 2 engines and a tanker to be delivered within the next year as well.
-
Best of luck to the POs who were injured, and the prosecutors who are going to nail this piece of trash.
-
Yes, we reqested the town have the vehicles outfitted at Specialty Warning due to their high quality and because they a local business. Its nice that if anything ever goes wrong with it (which is unlikely, everything we've gotten from Specialty has worked wonders) its literally a 10 minute drive to their shop.

Seriously, that show is hilarious. Some of the rediculous people on that show amuse me to no end.
-
Nice shots, and I thought US firehouses were big. Then again, you guys seem more regionalized, so more apparatus is in each station.
-
Nice NY Giants locomotive. Supposedly the New Haven line cars will be slightly modified to allow bicycles on board.

NY Law Enforcement Explorer Stations Day is being held at the Westchester County Police Academy this Saturday. For those of you who don't know, "stations day" is a day of competition and training for law enforcement Explorers who are put in realistic scenarios and are graded by area police officers on their performance. I just got an email, apparently I got "drafted" to represent Danbury on New England's travel team, which is going to the event. This is a unit I haven't actually dealt with before, so we'll see how that goes, hopefully well. Any other Explorers on this forum going? I'll be bringing my camera, so hopefully I'll be able to put up some good shots of the days events. Best of luck to everyone.

I also have some pictures of the Westchester County SOD Marine 3, Greenburgh Child Passenger Safety Unit, Greenburgh C.E.R.T. van, and the Patrol Services International Pickup (towed the driving simulator trailer for the day) which I will post when I find my camera, which is located somewhere in my car.
