Marine Corps Barracks Washington, also known as "8th and I" where we had the honor of watching the Marine Corps Sundown Parade: Home of the Commandant of the United States Marine Corps: Marine Corps Barracks Washington, pictured from left to right: Alpha Company, 2nd Platoon Alpha Company, 3rd Platoon also known as the Silent Drill Team. The lighting sucked for me to get a shot of them, and flash photography is prohibited. Bravo Company Pentagon Memorial: Air Force Memorial in the background: From the plane on my way home: Back in New York: PAPD ESU: And thats it, I have like 200 more photos, these are just the highlights, any requests for specific stuff, ask, I might have something.

Limos used in President Bush's convoys, some occupied by the POTUS and some occupied by the elite Counter-Assault Team. And the Piece de resistance, the Agents took two chargers out on the test track. This photo is misleading, those cars are actually midway through a J-Turn, a 180 degree maneuver. The kicker, they had no radios or cell phones to time this... These guys can drive. ATF National Laboratory in Maryland, this place is the most advanced forensics lab I've ever seen. Also, they can build a TWO STORY house INSIDE the lab and burn it to recreate arson scenes. Obviously, I couldn't take many pictures inside. ATF Mobile Command Center Old National Response Team truck: Pierce National Response Team truck: Inside the Command Truck:

Various shields carried by the now defunct White House Police, Uniformed Secret Service and Secret Service Special Agents: Window of President Reagan's limousine recovered after the assassination attempt: This is a real, retired military helo painted up as Marine One used for training Special Agents how to move Protectee's from the helo to vehicles or vice versa Mockup of old Air Force One used for the same purpose: UNFORTUNATELY, I was not allowed to take pictures within the Secret Service weapons library, but suffice it to say, if you can think of a gun, it is in this room. Not kidding, they have Elvis' gold-plated, pearl handled Colt .45. Along with some more heavy weaponry like miniguns and rocket launchers. Next up is the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course team and their toys... none of these vehicles are in-use on the roads, just as training units. ACTUAL limousine used by President Clinton I apologize for this shot, its horrible, but its cramped quarters in that garage. This is the actual limo used by USSS SA's to extract President Reagan when a hostage-taker attacked the clubhouse of a golf course the POTUS was playing at.

Wreath Laying detail. The wreath for this presentation was hung by an Honor Guard of 4 law enforcement Explorers with our group, a very big honor for our class. I realize this picture is odd, but look at it and read the caption below: This photo was taken in a TOTALLY non-descript building within the downtown DC area, with a non-descript lobby and security guard. You pass through a magnetometer and walk around a corner to see this: The sign within the secure zone of Secret Service Headquarters: The following are photos of Secret Service equipment salvaged from the site of World Trade Center Building 7: An old magic button carried by members of the President's family. Press it and black Suburbans and guys in suits with submachine guns come out of everywhere:

Director John Clark of the United States Marshals Service (Any Tom Clancy fans out there that find that as funny as I did?) Obligatory picture in front of the press conference sign: Old Marshals badges in the USMS Museum: This is real: United States Air Force Memorial: Tomb Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Tomb Guard inspecting his replacement (left), who is actually one of only a handful of female Tomb Guards

US Marshal's Service Headquarters, 9th Floor I think. If you've ever been to the Crystal City Shops, this is the building above it, and the reason all the elevators have Court Security Officers. The obligatory press conference sign Standard USMS Equipment for the DC Regional Fugitive Task Force: One of our classmates all Tac'd out courtesy of the USMS Special Operations Group: Yes, thats me, and yes, that's a Taser in that SOG Marshal's hand, and yes, that hurt like hell. Had to try on the tac-vest

Just when you thought you hated YOUR mayor... This might be the dumbest thing to come out of a politician's mouth this week... I believe another article said this department also has a policy banning vehicle pursuits as well. The lawsuits that will come of this are going to cost a helluva lot more than $20K. Some people just don't think before they come up with policies. Whats REALLY hilarious is this idiot's exchange with the news reporter. Hopefully the County Sheriff's Officer or the State Troopers can help the Officers in this city do their jobs. Wow, just... wow.

We had it at the wetdown for New Fairfield Engine 6 and Tanker 5. Pretty cool truck, gotta a photo booth, stereo system and everything. Great business idea on behalf of the guy who bought it.

This lady is seriously loco, do they do drug tests on politicians? Maybe they should start... What a whackjob.
-
Its not that the government doesn't care, its that DHS doesn't hand out grant money for that as often as they do to fight terrorists.

I have a few questions that I don't think will violate OPSEC to answer. I know NYPD came up with this idea originally, are they participating in the exercise in Westchester? What other agencies are taking part in this (hopefully regional) team? Great idea if the various special ops units in Westchester (WCPD, YPD ESU, MTAPD ESU, Greenburgh, MVPD, etc) all got together to for a regional counterterrorism initiative, since there is obviously less security on the other transit hubs in the metro area, stands to reason that terrorists would exploit that, because the time that the problem was known, it would be too late. I like to see this kind of thinking moving outside of the big cities. Where did they end up coming up with the name Hercules?

New Fairfield's new Gowans-Knight was around 450-500K I believe.
-
That depends how close you are to the paint as you watch it, haha. I didn't watch, wasn't expecting much and it seems like I didn't miss much.
-
Seriously, I missed the last test, I thought they were still doing free, walk-in exams but they changed it and I didn't know until the day after the filing period ended.
-
Gowans makes a great truck if you are willing to wait.
-
Could do what Putnam does and call them "County Car XX"
-
Hahaha... I feel bad for the guys of FDMV who have to put up with all this BS lately, gotta hand it to them for sticking it out despite the crap instead of a mass exodus to other departments.
-
Hey, I take plenty of classes about how to run fire departments, hell, I'm getting a Bachelor's in it, how come nobody called me for this job? I WOULD HAVE TAKEN IT! Haha.

Edited my post on Danbury thanks to some corrections by DFD801, Engines 21 and 23 don't carry tools and Truck 2 does.
-
I know you said Westchester, but I can describe a couple of the CT Departments I know of that run multiple extrication units: New Fairfield: Company A Rescue 3 Squantz Engine 13 Danbury: Truck 1 Truck 2 Engine 22 Engine 24 Engine 25 Engine 26 Squad 1 (Staffed by E23) Vol. Rescue 10 New Haven: Squad 1 Squad 2 I also believe all truck companies carry extrication equipment (there are 4)

Considering the career department in my part of West Haven covers several THOUSAND with 20 people? Yes, thats odd.

Solution: Get K9s... "But Ms. Mayor, I didn't chase after the suspect, I was chasing after my dog!"
