  1. If you are an habitual speeder, Check this out!!!!
  2. We have the tree in the meeting room and a couple wreaths one on the front and one on the side facing route 22. Simple but ok.
  3. Now that the baseball season is behind us, and hockey looks less than promising, let's talk about football. Who's gonna take it????
  4. Jim! What make is the scanner? I think Wolfemt's post has one of the better links looks good and pretty cheap. Give'em a shot! This one was attached to that link--Robert Ott Electronics 14 Francis Street, Port Jervis, New York 12771 1-845 856-3632 Port Jervis? Not all that far. You up for a road trip?????
  5. How about them Jets, Dammit!!!
  6. Well looks like DEP and DEC are holding things up a bit but that should be cleared up soon. Asbestos abatement should strat soon, with construction to start within another month or so.
  7. That's about the worst case of road rege I've heard of yet! That b**** ought to get life without parole, or worse!!!!!
  8. That's a gray area DEP might bust chops about it. The damn permit is free, just a little pain inthebutt to get because once you get the letter saying that you can pick it up you have to go to the DEP PD @ Rte 129, Y-Toown to get it.
  9. My experience has been that 60 control usually picks up on problems pretty quick and gets the ball rollin' pretty fast. But there is a potential for a bit of a lag.
  10. Our old number is call-forwarded to 60 control, so, if 911 goes down people can dial the seven digit humber. If the lines to Control go down we disable the C?F and self dispatch form station 1. Simple, but it works.
  11. I was just wonering how different Departments deal with personnel on Highways. We don't let members take POV's on the interstate. Drivers wait for a crew at FH. The exception, of course would be member on highway in POV happening onto scene.
  12. From The Secret List: Hey.... We were just informed that Firefighter Jack Gerhart, 65, of the Chambersburg, PA FD (Truck Company) succumbed to his injuries that had occurred on November 30th, 2004 while operating at a structural fire. Gerhart was a retired member of the DCFD as well. Reports are that he fell to the street from the back of the apparatus, while stretching a supply line and he suffered a severe injury. Gerhart, who was well-known in the area fire service, had been listed in serious condition until his tragic passing this afternoon. He was flown out from the fire scene following ALS treatment. Gerhart responded to the fire with the Junior Truck Company, which runs out of headquarters in Chambersburg. Gerhart, a retired member of the District of Columbia FD, was also an active member of a fire company in Shippensburg. PA and also responds in Chambersburg. The house fire was contained to one room. As always-our condolences goes out to the friends and family of FF Gerhart and especially to the members of the CFD, SFD and DCFD. Take Care-BE CAREFUL, BillyG The Secret List 12-5-04 www.FirefighterCloseCalls.com ----- Again Thoughts and prayers go out to FF Gerhart's Families and Friends
  13. Actually mine has been good lately. No more dropped calls or improper "user not available" messages. Seems OK now.
  14. You know that if you are planning on eating what you catch you'll probably have to go waaaaaaay upstate, otherwise you're limited as to what you should keep. If you are the catch and release type, hen any reservoir or connecting tributary will work. But for those, you will need to get the DEP Public access permit as well as the NYS Fishing License.
  15. I ALWAYS HEARD ONE, NOT TWO HAHAHAHAHA But then I think in the fine print it did say something about alternating possible being constreud as one???????
  16. I mean ALWAYS use discretion! aAfter all is that not the best part of valor????? Common scense MUST prevail!!!!!!!
  17. When in doubt send all out!! seems to me that until somebody arrives on scene and verifys the alarm status, then you are in doubt so do what you have to do, dammit!
  18. Are they all blue? how do you get all that into ONE blue light? HAHAHA
  19. Some great points have come out here. I agree with those who say that if blue lights on PD vehicles mak em safer then GO FOR IT. But IMO the best points were those regarding what might happen if you break POs balls Juts remember they have a bigger hammer to slam on yours so be careful! The other of the better points was instead of wasting time bitching about the small stuff look around for ways to better yourselves! You people who have nothing better to complain about must have very simple lives and not do a whole lot if that bothers you that much. Look around there are a lot of people out there with much worse problems. Why don't you spend some of your free time to seek those people out and do something to help make their lives better! There, Now I'm done rambling!
  20. thoughts and prayers to Chief Lippert's family, friends and the Peekskill FD RIP, Chief
  21. the article below from the secret list, concerns LODD of Alaskan FF/EMT Hey .... We have been advised that a member of the Sitka Volunteer Fire Department was killed last night responding to an EMS call on Gavanski Island near Sitka. She's identified as 47 year old Molly Ahlgren. Info from the Sitka PD says an Alaska State Trooper Recruit class was participating in a survival training exercise on the island. One of the recruits received a laceration to a finger requiring medical treatment. A request was made for transportation by the Fire Department and a volunteer offered to transport EMS personnel to the island on his personal boat. When the vessel arrived on scene, it somehow struck the island. The Coast Guard's Command Center in Juneau states they picked up the mayday distress call at about 7:30 last night. They diverted two helicopters from Air Station Sitka with rescue swimmer - EMT's on board. A rescuer was lowered to the vessel and helped with CPR and on scene medical assistance while Sitka FD was enroute to the scene in a harbor boat. Exactly why the vessel went aground remains under investigation by the Coast Guard. Ahlgren was an Aquatic Ecologist working as an associate professor at Sheldon Jackson College. She was president of the Alaska Chapter of the Western Division of the American Fisheries Society. She earned her bachelors degree from the University of Idaho and her masters and doctorate degrees from Michigan Tech University. As always-our deepest thoughts go out to the family and friends of EMT Ahlgren and especially to the members of the SFD. Take Care, BillyG The Secret List 12-3-04 Thoughts and prayers to the family, friends and fellow FF's of FF Ahlgren. RIP
