Ah , JBE, how long have you worked for the City of New York? It doesn't really matter what agency you work for, I've been with a City agency for over 25 years and I don't think employee happiness is in their vocabulary. LOL

I sent "before pix to EMTBravo and once demolition starts I'll send "progress pix as things move along. As far as apparatus there, currently Engine 149, Tanker * and Mini Attack 16 are in that house. When construction is complete, Utility 28 will be relocated there as well. Thamks

I think this is a good thing. Let's face one fact that never gets mentioned here: A good amount of activities we do (Functions outside the firehouse we drive pov's to and certain other things cost money out of pocke)t, so a $1000.00 tax credit really wont add up to any volunteer emergency service personnel being a "paid firefighter. Not to mention the price of the gas we use to drive to drills, calls, etc continues to skyrocket. Furthermore this sounds to me like a good recruitment and retention tool as does the service awards program.

It's just plain DUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! although I can understand concern for the uniform, but this has been an accepted part of the tradition for so long, not to mention the fact that, as Wolfemt stated in a previous threacd, the berets did NOT detract from the rest of the uniform!

Croton Falls will be at: Katonah Mahopac Brewster Bedford Village South Salem Yup, I too might have missed one.

Let's simplify--- I think a few good ideas/arguments posted in this thread are good and valid, BUT i think the major issue(s) should be: If you want to drink-- fine but if you are in uniform as 648eng119 said leave the shirt and jacket in the car. We can hold an eternal discussion about this but the bottom line is public perception period. It's the same old story--- always do the right thing the right way and you'll never be noticed BUT make one mistake and you're a jackass for life.

Amen, Brother! I couldn't have said it better myself!!!

I was told by a radio repairman once that there are companies who buy old radios and sell them as is and he said that a lot of these taxi, landscape or whatever outfits will buy these on an as is basis and just go ahead and use them on whatever frequencies they happen to be set for. Although this was several years ago I guess it could still happen.
