I believe there may be a liability issue with having certain types of PE/PT equipment in the firehouse. If someone uses it without properly trained personnel there and they get hurt it could create quite a hassle.

C'mon, Jeff, you're too young to remember the old black and white State Police cars!HAHAHA

Ok,Seth I'll send you a few sets of the earplugs we use at work maybe that'll help?????? LOL Living where I do NOW, I don't have that problem, but then again I'm up at 0430 Mon_Fri so that might help. Seriously though, the last two places I was at I had many a "rude awakening so I can sympathize with you on this one!

EXCELLENT post, x635! This really seems (judging by the ever increasing number of LODD's resultant of Cardiac problems) to be a MAJOR problem. We don't have a gym in either of our houses and I doubt with the expansion of station 2 you'll see one either. Instead, our members can join about any of the local gyms and as long as they use it often and properly enough, the District covers the cost. This is a good way to do it cause they have professionals who can work out a viable schedule.

As I said in a previous post, I don't think $1000.00 is a big deal. Back when gas was $0.35 a gallon and the rest of the cost of living was reasonable, maybe it would be a problem. BUT when people are leaving in droves cause they can't afford to live in any given area, perhaps a tax break is a good idea. It's not meant to give anyone a salary, it's being proposed as a recruitment and retention device. I joined my department in 1963 when it didn't cost an arm and a leg just to own and operate a damn automobile.

pbvpm, some of your posts are argumentative and sometimes perhaps even a bit nasty BUT I agree wholeheartedly on this one!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D> =D> just my $0.02
