QUOTE(bibbles10504 @ Oct 26 2006, 12:27 PM) Why hasnt verizon started marketing their 2 way phones, I think those would be pretty good, but no one has them. Also, does anyone think Nextel should have a plan that is pretty cheap where you get like 50 anytime min and unlimited 2 way? Because that is really all I would use nextel for, and keep verizon because the service is a lot better. But the 2 way is just so convient in the service most of us are in. Yeah, I would go for a plan like that. I get very little use of the phone part of my Nextel. But I'm on that damn Direct Connect every day. At work, at the FD. Damn things are EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!! That's about the only reason I haven't switched to Verizon. Just got rid of everything I had through Suscom/Comcast except for expanded basic cable, and when Verizon FiOS adds television to what I already have thru them.

I think finding the right person to replace Bob will be very difficult. This marks the end of another era in television. Best wishes, Bob!!!!!

It flows about 80 to 90 gallons per minute. The nozzle has an adjustment on it that sets it on a graduated basis between a straight stream and fog pattern. you could put out a lot of fire with a minimal amount of water damage, BUT ya better know what you're doing cause you can get under the fire and blow it up, over and down behind you. This (I believe is one of the reasons people are getting away from that type of firefighting. With the fog pattern you could even put out a gas/oil fire, but again ya had to know how to use it.

Nozzle is shaped somewhat like a gun. Hose is 3/4" to 1" with steel webbing in it as with any high pressure hose. It has some kick to it but one person can operate it, although a back-up person is always recommended.

Actually I was at work 16 hour shift at Shaft 18. When I left Sunday Morning I didn't see snow till I got north of exit 4. Although I was doing a Chlorine tank change when my pager went off for wires down and I heard them request the Highway Department due to heavy snow. Nothing but rain in Valhalla all night.

I caught the midnight rerun. AWSOME, AWSOME show!!!! Two items hit me hard. I was in the ER when the doc came out and told a family that their son/brother, who was also a member of CFFD didn't make it from a PIAA. On a side note almost 20 years to the day we lost another young (both were 18 y/o) member. The total devastation was something I hope I NEVER see again. The other part was about the baby. Been there too. Although ours was a little different since we knew the kids were in there, but nothing we could do. We didn't know until later, we were litterally walking on them during the fire suppression as they were buried under the rubble. Not a good way to start off New Years Eve.

Reminds me of, if I have the date right, I think it was Sunday October 4th 1987. we had 6 to 8 inches of the stuff in the Northern Westchester/Putnam area. Trees, wires down, roads blocked all over. It was a MESS!!!!!
