Members, When you type posts, I suggest that you proof read, and these forums have spell check on them. If there is a faint red line under a word you typed check the spelling. You can even right click over the misspelled word and the dictionary will either offer a correct spelling or since some names and terms used here aren't in there, you can even add it. I have noticed an increase in the misspelled words and poor grammar. Thanks, DOC22

What you have is most likely an Eastern Milk Snake. If you go to http://www.hoganphoto.com/Eastern_Milk_Snake.jpg, You'll see the same marking on it, and look close enough you can see the same pattern on its head, as the one on the close-up you took of its head. This link to New York State DEC, will give you info on where they can be found. http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/7483.html Distribution and status The Eastern Milk Snake can be found in the northern half and southeast parts of the state, while the Red Milk Snake can be found in the southwest. Both species are considered common within thier respective ranges in Indiana. Ecology Milk snakes often forage around farm sheds and barns, but live in many different kinds of environments with the exception of especially dry habitats. Milk snakes eat mostly small mammals, but will also eat birds, eggs, and other reptiles. When threatened, they coil into a tight ball or may vibrate their tail and strike. milksnake.doc

Welcome to EMTBRAVO, Joe!!!

It sure is! I see it a lot in Northern Westchester and Southern Putnam. Although when they run the Tour de Putnam, they have PD and civilian spotters along the route. But outside of that, a 14 year old kid on a bicycle has more respect than some adults.

Great point, Seth! First of all, in my Department, any call on the interstate, NO personal vehicles are to respond to the highway(unless you are driving there and come upon it). Rescue and a pumper will go first. if there is a need for more, that will be addressed as required. Pumper will stage to take one or more lanes as needed. we may bring a third large vehicle to set as a blocker. And we do have a good working relationship with SP, which can be a bid help.

Just to set the record straight: NOTE: Verifiable experience as an active volunteer firefighter may be substituted for an equivalent amount of experience as a paid firefighter as required above.

Nice Looking Unit! Good Luck with it!!!!!!

First of all, as has been said here more than once already, there is nothing wrong with being leary of height. I've been in the Fire Service for years and if I don't have to climb another ladder I won't feel bad. And on another note I'm not sure, but I think I read something about NFPA or OSHA pushing to ban fire poles. Anybody know about that?????

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page look on the left side. It's to the right of the new RSS button.

BUT, not everybody on here is an older male Firefighter, while this is a private forum, in as much as you need to be a verified member to participate in discussions, the same does not necessarily apply to those who just want to "check it out". I use that language just as much as the next guy, but I try to use some discretion in doing so. Point here is you never know who's reading your posts, and more often than not, the use of vuldarity is totally unnecessary and uncalled for.
-
HAHA, Seth You might be right in some areas, but I guess you've enver seen our Politicians at work LOL
-
Let us NEVER forget ALL of our brave Service Men and Women, those who continue to fight for our freedom, and especially those who have made the Supreme Sacrifice. Nay their Souls rest in Peace.
-
Here, here! A Happy Independence Day to all, A BIG THANK YOU to Our Dedicated Troops who risk Life and Limb to preserve our Independence. And to all Emergency Workers on duty Stay safe today and every day. And God Bless those who made the Supreme Sacrifice.

As some members of this board know, my father was a docton in Croton Falls for many years. He died 30 years ago this August, and at least 20 years prior to his death he saw the handwriting on the wall even then he saw this coming.
-
Chris, We have it even different yet----You mention one Town with three Fire Districts in it? Well Croton Falls Fire District covers all of North Salem and small parts of Southeast and Carmel Brewster, Carmel and Mahopac Fire Districts. Yup that's three districts not even in Town Two in the Town of Carmel amd one in Southeast. We work well with our neighbors so the whole concept works out great foe us.

I have a question concerning this County Fire Department I keep reading about. How do you propose to staff this? Are we thinking Career, Combo? As high as property taxes in Westchester County are now, where would the additional funding come from?? This is STRICTLY a question based on economics, and in NO WAY intended to incite any conflict whatsoever. It's just that the cost of staffing could be astronomical,

As much as I'm not a big fan of "P/C" Sometimes I feel obligated to let discretion prevail.
