  1. I think you're correct, there, steve.
  2. When enough people get killed there then DOT will do something about it. Unfortunately that seems to be what it takes to get things done.
  3. Nice looking engine!!! Good luck with it!!! I like the lower pump panel nice and easy for us short guys to reach!!!
  4. As an addition to my original post, I feel need to say that, although I never had the honor of knowing Gary personally, I feel a profound loss in knowing that such a great man and tremendous asset to Belltown and the Fire Servce in general, has een taken from us so soon.
  5. Hopefully, all brush fires might just be called off due to inclement weather!
  6. Excellent letter!! I think it speaks volumes of truth about the press!
  7. If the terain is that rough rather than jepordize the safety of responders attemptig to get in to a desolate area, go in as far as you safely can, and let it come to you, wth the assist from aviation units, why risk the FFs?
  8. Sincere condolences to Firefighter Remling's family, friends, extended family and his brothers and sisters at Belltown FD. May God's Perpetual Light Shine upon him. And may God help those who suffer from the loss of FF Remling, get though this difficult time. Take comfort in the knowledge that he is in a better place now.

  10. BUT, one cop is white, and the deceased is black. That's all Shrpton needs to stir the proverbial pot, and start his crap.

  12. Looks pretty good, Seth. One problem--- when I click on the link fpor Dutchess County, all I get is: Sorry, but you do not have permission to use this feature. If you are not logged in, you may do so using the form below if available. Whhhhhhhhhaaaaaaassssssuuuuupppppwitdat????????
  13. As I drove upHillandale Road approaching Fair Street in Carmel, last evening, off to the West, was a bright orange sunset, and immediately north of that leading into it was this large dark cloud. At that time I didn't know about the fire but that was definitely smoke from there. If I had known what it was, I wouldhave stopped and gotten some pictures.
  14. For that matter, wasn't there a large fire in, I believe Georgia, a few year back whose smoke and smell reached this far north?
  15. This sounds like one hell of a fire. Next thing to happen we'll get inundated with "outside odor of burning" or "somke in the area" calls.
  16. No problem, bro. I does get a bit frustrating to have the more important topics with only 5 or 10 replies, overshadowed by this colored light thread wth 60 plus replies. Kinda shows where a lot of interest lays.
  17. Not necessarily! RWC30 ha a valid point! These relativly inane threads about blue, red, green, yellow, white or pink Too mch time gets spent worrying about who has what color lights. It has ben proven that blue is more visible than red, so WHO CARES????? If you want blue lights on your POV, the put them on it. enough crying about lights! Let's move on to something worthwhile, such as Firefighter safety, training or something important. Lets give the lights topic a rest. Rant over.
  18. Take a look, when that happens, see if any recent posts have been moved. If a topic/post has been moved, the orange box will stay "LIT". Right click on the lit box and it will go dark.
  19. The law was changed within the past year or so, to allow blue lights to be affixed on police vehicles only, no other emergncy vehicles are allowed, and on police vehicles, they may be rear facing only. Hope this helps.
  20. I had trouble logging on again this evening as well. It's ok now, though.
  21. Today is xfirefighters 24th birthday!!! Happy Birthday, Nate! Damn! One more year and you'll be a quater of a century old!!! Watch out, because ya know, each year goes by faster than the one before! Anyway, have a GREAT day!
  22. May God grant you a quick recovery. e're all here for you.
  23. I received this link tonight and was so moved by it that I thought I'd share it. The elderly parking lot attendant wasn't in a good mood! Neither was Sam Bierstock. It was around 1 a.m., and Bierstock, a Delray Beach, Fla. , eye doctor, business consultant, corporate speaker and musician, was bone tired after appearing at an event. He pulled up in his car, and the parking attendant began to speak. 'I took two bullets for this country and look what I'm doing,' he said bitterly. At first, Bierstock didn't know what to say to the World War II veteran. But he rolled down his window and told the man, 'Really, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you.' Then the old soldier began to cry. 'That really got to me,' Bierstock says. Cut to today. Bierstock, 58, and John Melnick, 54, of Pompano Beach - a member of Bierstock's band, Dr. Sam and the Managed Care Band - have written a song inspired by that old soldier in the airport parking lot. The mournful 'Before You Go' does more than salute those who fought in WWII. It encourages people to go out of their way to thank the aging warriors before they die. 'If we had lost that particular war, our whole way of life would have been shot,' says Bierstock, who plays harmonica. 'The WW II soldiers are now dying at the rate of about 2,000 every day. I thought we needed to thank them.' The song is striking a chord. Within four days of Bierstock placing it on the Web, the song and accompanying photo essay have bounced around nine countries, producing tears and heartfelt thanks from veterans, their sons and daughters and grandchildren. 'It made me cry,' wrote one veteran's son. Another sent an e-mail saying that only after his father consumed several glasses of wine would he discuss ' the unspeakable horrors' he and other soldiers had witnessed in places such as Anzio, Iwo Jima, Bataan and Omaha Beach. 'I can never thank them enough,' the son wrote. 'Thank you for thinking about them.' Bierstock and Melnick thought about shipping it off to a professional singer, maybe a Lee Greenwood type, but because time was running out for so many veterans, they decided it was best to release it quickly, for free, on the Web. They've sent the song to Sen. John McCain and others in Washington. Already they have been invited to perform it in Houston for a Veterans Day tribute - this after just a few days on the Web. They hope every veteran in America gets a chance to hear it. GOD BLESS every EVERY veteran... and THANK you to those of yoterans who may receive this !
