Congratson a job well done!!! Kudos to all involved! It's nice to see the Staff at 60 Control get the credit they deserve. I know how frustrating it can get, when you are a distance from a scene, and can only talk to the person on the other end. Great job, everybody!!!!!

In my district, the 3 chiefs phones are paid for by the Fire District, the rest of the officers and members all pay for our own, unless, of course they have one thru their jobs, snd even then not that many jobs will cover them.

Beautiful Photograph, Bill. I too would like to see it become a nightly year around tribute. As I look at that picture or read thru the replies in the where were you thread I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing at the time, I still get choked up and emotional.

Back in the 70s my father (A MD) was the School District MD for Somers, North Salem and JFK. My brother-in law was an orthopedic surgeon. Back then, and I don't know who set the policy, but one or the other had to be at the football games, and if Somers and JFK were both home, each one took a game. North Salem didn't have a football team.

I was at work checking reservoir elevations in Putnam County. I was out of the truck opening the gate at Boyds Corner dam when the first plane hit, when I got back in, I remember the conversation on WHUD between Mike and Kacey as if it were yesterday. I spent the rest of the shift in the office in Mahopac answering the phone and not doing much else.

Thanks for the laugh!! Ya know what The Readers' Digest calls laughter, don't ya? The Best Medicine. And I needed a good healthy dose!!!

In my old town, there are only two handicapped spots in the whole village one on the far end, and one in front of the Post Office. It amazes me how many people without any handicap, well, physical ones anyway, take that spot. There was one elderly lady with respiratory issues among other problems. If she caught somebody in that spot she had no problems giving them HELL in a big way. And rightfully so.
