Paramedics Michael T. Sanchez, Raul Garcia, and Pilot Robert Goss perished when their Valley AirCare EMS helicopter crashed into a bay off the South Coast of Texas near Brownsville on Tuesday night. The helicopter was reportedly en-route from Harlingen to South Padre Island for the medical evacuation of a patient from the Port Isabel Convention Center. The crew aborted the mission due to weather and shortly thereafter lost communications, according to a Coast Guard media release.
May they Rest In Peace. Prayers and condolences to their families.

A oress conference has just concluded at the scene. Earlier this morning, the suspect fired upon members of the LAPD SWAT Team and members of the LAFD who were attempting to protect surrounding exposures after the house the suspect was in caught fire, possibly after flashbang grenades were put into the structure. SWAT Team members returned fire, the suspect went down, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Day 2-more photos and more local rigs outside of the convention center. No other LAFD rigs. Unfortunately, because of the way the dealers/manufacturers position tillers, it is almost impossible at a conference like this to take photos while they are being demo'ed. AS rigs are being taken out tomorrow, I will try to get photos of the aerials. So for now, here's a few from today...
Local rigs at the convention center today..
1) Federal Fire Department San Diego Truck 7
2) Federal Fire Department San Diego Engine 6
3) National City Fire Department Engine 34
4) MCAS Miramar Fire Department Engine 61

Hey Guys and Gals,
The exhibit and classroom portion of the conference started today. I spent part of the day in my SPAAMFA group's booth, and the rest of the time taking photos. I renewed many friendships from around the San Diego County area so I can photograph their departments. Here's a sampling of Day 1....
1) New California OES Type 3 from Rosenbauer
2) New Los Angeles FD Medic Rig
3) Sacramento Metro FD Type 3 Brush Rig
4) Ventura County FD ALF Engine 57
more to follow....

I thought the Bud Light commercials were great. The first being "Breathing Fire" where the guy ends up sneezing and burning everything, including the cat and girl, the second was "Ability to Fly", when the guy gets sucked into a jet engine. But as was noted before, not many great ones this year.

As much as we San Diegans despise anything Manning, if it will shut everyone's pieholes about how great the Pats are, I''m rooting for the Giants....

Rob,
Let me know if there's any thoughts of anything out here in conjuction with EMTBravoWest.

Thanks for posting the article. As a former military EOD Tech, I am always interested in this type of news. Anyone have a photo of one of their rigs??

I sure wish we had something like that out here...I'll be starting to hit the road hard soon. We're getting rain about every 3 days right now, so it's hard to plan photo days right now.

I've got a better one for you guys. We have people who work either as EMTs or Medics that either can't read or refuse to use the map book. As a dispatcher, I am constently asked for maps pages or asked for directions, even from Medics that I know have responded to that location. Where has the Professionalism gone??

Good news, Seth. Hope it all works out for you.

I believe this was a Northern California FF, as there isn't a community of "Pacifica" in Los Angeles County, but is a city in the Bay Area.
