  1. I've seen that light package in photos of Canadian rigs, but not many here in the states.
  2. RWC130, Thank you for the post and the information. It is truly sad as a Veteran to see the apathy that my fellow Americans have for this day on which we should remember our fallen service men and women.
  3. I'll add on, even though Armed Forces Day was last weekend. As we enter the Memorial Day weekend, too many people have forgotten the meaning. It has just become another day off to lounge around. Yes, it is good to relax and be with family, but let's remember why we have that day off. These days, more then ever, our fellow countrymen and women are deployed and facing an enemy that will use unconventional tactics to inflict harm to them. Regardless of your thoughts on the appropriateness of this war, action whatever you want to call it, we as a country must keep our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen in our thoughts and prayers. please remember to thank those members of our Armed Forces, past and present, for their service to our country.
  4. You'll be seeing a lot more rigs that aren't Fords. Ford announced last month that due to a problem getting their new diesel engine to fit in the F350/450 chassis, they were discontinuing their conversion line. It will be interesting to see who steps up to fill the void. I've already seen some boxes on GMC chassis.
  5. Very well said. Most of us are type A personalities who expect to be able to control our situations, and when it doesn't we don't like it at all. As the idiot that wouldn't stop for LAPD stated, "Can't we all just get along??" Get involved and ask questions, as stated there's a wealth of knowledge on all the EMTBravo boards. We're all here to help each other.
  6. Out here on the Left Coast, you see both. Alot of our EMS providers are the private companies, and drive type 2 or 3 with the sickly electronic airhorns and siren. Many of the fire departments have gone to the Freightliners, and some have gone with the "Q" and real airhorns. I was photographing Burbank Fire's Rescue 11 in front of FS15 last weekend when they received a response. Kind of different to hear a medic rig with the "Q".
  7. Jimmy, I have seen some of your photos that you've posted, don't sell yourself short. You do just fine.... As for my equipment, the camera bag and digital are always in the car. 3 Canon AE-1s with a 20-80mm zoom and a 70-210mm zoom. I can't count how many times I have driven past a rig parked at a supermarket or something like that and have gone back for photos. Duane
  8. Glad to hear all are all right. I don't know if this is it, but on another board I belong to it has been posted that Arlington just got a new Quint for 7's. Duane
  9. Here's some from the West Coast... 11. Thanks great-thanks for sharing
  12. Seth, It sounds like you've lost your mind with all this time off. Lime?? C'mon, I thought you were better than that. As others have said, I hope this means retirement for the "special called" equipment real soon. Take care and keep up the hard work of rehab. Duane
  13. Thanks for sharing, Seth. As has been said, I appreciate all you do for the sites. As for sharing my center, I haven't received the Federal Superfund Grant for cleanup, so only a few brave souls are authorized access
  14. JBE-How far along was construction on the new LACoFD Command Center? Just wondering, as due to the construction the LA Area Burn Run ends at FS 118 this year, instead of HQ. Thanks DK
  15. I still say Seth using the walker when wearing one of those toy fire helmets with the flashing light and siren would be the best
  16. Seth, I understand what you're feeling in your original post and I've felt it, also. But I look at it this way, and I think you can relate. While on the bus (truck, ambulance-whatever you call it in your area), you're given a major trauma patient. You're glad you are on the call, not because you wish ill of anyone, but you are using your skills to help someone. You're thinking quickly what the best treatment is, where to take them, and putting it all together. Kind of the same thing shooting scene photos. Best shot, what to shoot, etc. Hope this helps.-Duane
  17. Of course mommy states he is a good boy, because she raised him. Give me a break. In today's world, with a lot of teens and young adults believing that it is their right to act as they see fit, and that they should not be severely punished for whatever crime they commit, I'm surprised this kind of thing doesn't happen more often. These people need to have the book thrown at them, and get the maximum sentence.
  18. With all the media coverage and all, you'd think a head of state or someone equally important died. So the question begs to be asked, When's the National Memorial Service and why aren't the flags at Half-Staff??? Has the mourning period offically started yet??
  19. If you go you have got to try the fries "animal style", that is smothered in the secret sauce, grilled onions and cheese. That's the only way to eat them.
  20. Santee California, in the County of San Diego
  21. Here is the Oath he had to swear (or affirm) to be a commissioned offiecer: "I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God." (DA Form 71, 1 August 1959, for officers.) So, as a military member he can do what the F#@K he wants when he wants?? Put him in a friggin cell with no heat in the middle of Kansas with only bread and water. He's a disgrace to the uniform and should be treated as such. F#@k him and his so called rights!!
  22. The San Diego Fire Department has received the first 8 KME engines on their 7 year contract. Engines 1, 201, 15, 27, 34, 38, 39, and 45 are being outfitted and should be in service soon. Also, The new Truck 1, a Crimson Tiller, arrived today from the dealer. Here's some photos... [attachmentid=1939] [attachmentid=1940]
