Rest in Peace, Chief. Alexander, my condolences to your family on your loss.

Chris, The standard that I am aware of for most contracts that have ALS on the engines is 11 minutes 59 seconds for the ambulance. And I agree with you about cookie cutter response times, what is acceptible in one location may not be in another. Frankly, my opinion is everyone, including the transport unit, should be there in 8 minutes or less. As has been posted, too many politicians want to do Fire/EMS on the cheap, and the public with their lack of knowledge passively allows this . What ever happened to doing what's right for the paitent??
-
Chris, I think the standard changed when fire departments started putting medics on their engines. As a dispatcher for a private company whose EMTs cover a jail complex, I can tell you they are covered just like anything else. If you do not send the closest unit on an emergent response, you are leaving yourself wide open to a lawsuit. The company will not back you up as you are probably violating company policy, so you'll be on your own.

Seth, as always you are proving to be imaginative and proactive. I don't see a problem with anything your proposing.

Yep, it says there's no one in the United States with my name. Must mean my family entered the witness protection program when I was too young to remember. It also says 99.9% of people named Duane (or other spellings) are male. Who the heck would name their daughter Duane??

No. Someone like that should have nothing to do with veterans who served honorably. He should have to switch bedpans and wash them out at the local VA hospital. Nothing is worse, in a time when our servicemen and women are dying far from home, than a scumbag posing as an honorable veteran. Actually, maybe combat is where he needs to be...

SHHHH!! Hollywood will hear you and remake that movie. And screw it up big time!!

Code 3 at least had a very active R&D section. I know a lot of collectors submit photos to them. But as to how they determine what to replicate, I believe with some notable exceptions, they attempt to go with a unique color scheme, a rich history or something about the department stands out.

thoughts and prayers for a complete recovery to paramedic Coffey.

I remember a Ford commercial expounding the virtues of the quietness of the F150. With the camera outside the truck, they're using a Federal Q and airhorns, then the camera is inside and you hear absolutely nothing. It made me wonder if any of the automaker's engineers had thought about the driver and passengers hearing emergency vehicles.

Joe, Great shots. Thank you for sharing and I'm waiting to see the rest of the photos. Duane

Just wondering if anyone else knew of any doctor's names that fit where they work. The reason I ask, we just received an announcement of a new Trauma Attending at one of our primary trauma centers. His name??? Dr. Kill. It's just not right....

It all depends on how the guys on the bus word their patient care report. But does it matter whether Medicare or Medicaid will pay?? We'll send a bus anyways, because gawd forbid you don't....

Prayers and condolences to the families, friends and fellow firefighters. The numbers just keep getting higher and it seems nothing changes...

A whole whopping 28 years old?? What a youngin!! Happy Birthday, Seth. An anniversary and a birthday within a month of each other. Hope it's a good one. Remember the motto: If you drink, drink with a buddy and if you swim don't drive.

Seth, Is there an update on how we're doing? Duane

I watched the end of the show last night. Glad to see him win. And I hope he has success with this. It appears to be a great idea.

As I did not see the photos of the Buffalo rig, I will not comment on it. I know it's sacrilegious, but I have enough FDNY, so unless it is something special, I won't purchase it.

Good photos. Thank you for sharing.-Duane

I believe until the new management company get an idea of exactly what is in the works, these are the kind of releases we will continue to see. As I have more than enough FDNY, I'll only be purchasing the other releases.

Remember the Fallen. may we never forget those who put their lives before ours and gave all for those they protect.

I have used both the Hurst and Amkus, both with good results. I didn't have a preference, as it was more the ability of the tool man that determined how it went. I think antiquefirelt said it best. Get with your local dealers, they have demos to try, and use them in a training environment. Get your best tool man and your least experienced person and let them have at it. Base your decisions on needs and ability to train your people. You don't want something so intricate that your least experienced people can't learn.

Sgt Gumby, You are so right, sir. The rights of the average smoker are being trappled on by all. I don't smoke, but I have seen the problems my parents have had trying to stop this habit. When more money is needed via taxes, where do politicians look to? Let's raise taxes on cigarettes! Let's make the smokers do this or do that. It's ridiculous how smokers are treated, as opposed to other people with different vices. Cigarettes are still legal, so let's treat everyone the same.

Great post. Thank you for sharing. The question will be how many see themselves in this and how many attitudes will it change???
