  1. That's them. I'm not sure if they're nationwide. If not, someone needs to take up the cause. Mourning families do not need these idiots in their face when burying their loved ones.
  2. Hopefully the group that has helped protect families at the gravesides will show up for the memorial service. I'll look up the name later.
  3. Lucky guy....
  4. this would work wonderfully, but the tree hugging enviromentalists here in the west who don't understand the natural evolution of the forest and/or scrub oak here squash both Cal-Fire and the USFS attempts at prescribed burns. Who knows, with the natural fire breaks that these type of burns cause, maybe here in California we wouldn't have the 200,000 acre fires that we do.
  5. Nice rig and good looking photos. Thanks for sharing.-Duane
  6. The public has screamed for "non-lethal" means of subduing suspects, and now are complaining that those methods are being used too often? Has the public really become that callous regarding criminals? There is always a fine line as to what is considered "too much" for anything in life. And as the company stated, and most of us know, coming to a judgement using a media sound bite doesn't do anyone any good. How about we let law enforcement do their jobs? They, and firefighters, should not be expected to give their life in the line of duty for any reason, especially when it comes down to subduing a law breaking criminal (I know, I know. Innocent until proven guilty). Non-lethal means, whether it be bean bag guns, rubber bullets or tasers allow for less injuries to our law enforcement officers. And in my opinion, if it causes some discomfort to a criminal, too bad.
  7. Photounit, thanks for sharing those photos. they're great.
  8. And who says this board is the home to Vollie vs Career battles?? Just plain BS, it doesn't matter whether you're being paid or not when doing the job, if you die it's a LODD. Stupid politicos who make these decisions probably never humped a hose in their life.
  9. fire2141, Thanks for sharing that article. Interesting reading. It's not often you actually see someone put that opinion out in the open.
  10. Chris, It was about 15 years ago, but I think it was the law enforcement agency onscene.
  11. Was that because the other driver was laughing so hard that they weren't paying attention to the road at that point??
  12. Repeating.... Dr Heimlich, report to the Red Sox Clubhouse, Dr Heimlich, please report to the Red Sox Clubhouse to assist with numerous choking victims....
  13. Chris, Once again, thanks for sharing. Interesting to look at what was used in the past.
  14. We had an incident several years ago in a rural area I worked. Rollover into thick brush. Sheriff, Fire and our unit get onscene and there were still people in the vehicle. What no one was told was that 1 other person from the car had been missing. He was found a few hours later 150 feet from the car. It was determined in the autopsy that the victim lived for a period of time after the ejection and died after not being found. I've been on other scenes when there was an unconscious adult in a car with a car seat. Searches were done to about 100 feet in a circular pattern from the car to make sure there wasn't a child. You do the best you can with what you have, both equipment and information wise. You do your due dilligence, but sometimes caca happens and no matter how you try to mitigate it, there's nothing you can do.
  15. Chris, Thanks for sharing, Bro. It really is interesting to see the evolution of different departments and their paint schemes. I remember when San Diego decided that slime was the flavor of the day. They still have a couple of brush rigs in that color.
  16. Rest in Peace, Soldier. Your duty is done here on earth.
  17. No matter how you slice and dice it, those numbers are way to many. We must read and understand reports such as this and change our methods as necessary to reduce those numbers.
  18. C'mon Doc...ya gotta use the poliically correct term... International Nomadic Travelers
  19. Dr Heimlich, report to the Red Sox Clubhouse, Dr Heimlich, please report to the Red Sox Clubhouse....
  20. Call Yonkers FD. It appears they know how to handle those things
  21. First off, don't worry about it. While that type of flip-flopping isn't wanted in a politician, it's pretty much normal for adolescencts (and boy did I do my share!!). Things will change, and you'll look at this period of time and say to yourself, "What a dork!". You friends like you for you. But mainly like I said, don't worry about it.
  22. That's eerie the way that the light is catching the clouds in that photo. Good Job!
  23. Remember that photo of the constrictor that tried to eat the gator last year. Throw him in the middle of one of those fights....
