Just a FYI, Las Vegas FD and Clark County FD have pretty much clamped down on any apparatus photography. You basically have to catch them out and about, or find a very receptive station captain. North Las Vegas and Henderson have been very helpful to me when I ask.

Terms used by LAFD and LA County FD to designate resources. Mainly LAFD, but as Jimmy stated LA County FD has a few due to resource needs in specific communities. 1)A Task Force is an engine, a truck and another engine assigned to the truck within a single station. Manning is a 4 man engine and 6 firefighters divided between the truck and 2nd engine. May be 5 and 1 or 4 and 2, Captain's decision. 2nd engine is with the truck in case the 1st engine is on another response (Med Aid, any other type of single engine response), that way the truck always has a source of water with it immediately. 2) Light Force is the truck and engine in one station. Other information is as above.

Here's some examples of LA County's apparatus. Primarily KME for the engines and trucks, though a few other manfacturers still in the inventory due to contracted cities picked up in the last few years. The black over red on Engine 126 signifies the CAFS system on the rig. Only a few engines have it.

Izzy is correct. The site is owned by a Captain for the LACoFD. Lots of info, photos and a great forum that has members from all over the world. Also remember, the area covered by LA County FD is bigger than some states in the Northeast. Here's a few photos of LA County FD Copter 18 taken at the American Heroes Airshow in July.

This accident was talked about when it occured California Firefighter Charged with manslaughter The Engineer was acquitted of the charges. I believe the widow is going after the "big money". She probably doesn't want to sue to county and mess up her bereavement benefits. This is California after all, and God gave all it's citizens the right to sue anyone for anything

A great day in San Diego. I saw many friends. I followed part of the run for most of the day. Check my PhotoBucket album Duane's 2008 San Diego Burn Run Album for other photos. I have the apparatus photos loaded, and will have the run photos loaded either tomorrow or Monday. For those who don't know what this event is all about, The Burn Run and Fire Expo benefits the San Diego Burn Institute and raises funds for their Camp Beyond the Scars, a camp for child and adolescent burn survivors. The Institute, along with the FireFighter's Advisory Council to the Burn Institute (F.F.A.C.B.I.) raises funds through t-shirt sales and other fund raisers. This event was started in the early 90's in conjunction with a Padres game at Qualcomm Stadium. You could go to the Expo during the day, and buy tickets as a fundraiser for the Institute to the game. A pregame ceremony would honor the firefighters, with a few from each department lining the baselines. But now the Padres are in Petco, but the Expo is still an all day event. Here's some of my photos
