A true hero that the media didn't tell us about. It is men like him that protect the citizens of our country. Thank you Major Feeman and those like you who serve your fellow citizens and think of them when the time to act presents itself... Rest In Peace, Sir!!

In our contract cities here in San Diego County, our medics cancel the fire guys all the time. Unfortunately, while EMD is used by 1 of the dispatch agencies, the chiefs have ruled that everything is still a medic level response (we will not get into the debate on this please). The engine captain has the option once onscene to downgrade the response if appropriate. But I don't bel;ieve anyone is keeping stats to look at the EMD picture. And as always, remember EMD is only as good as the caller as they will give whatever answers they want....

In LA County Fire covered territory, whether an unincorprated area or contract cities. Medics run on squads or paramedic assessment engines. The County is split into "zones", with those zones under contract to one of the many private ambulances companies. I'm not sure the algorythm, but in certain cases the medics from the squad do transport with the private ambulnce crew to the hospital. But most times it is the ambulnce crew that handles the patient care during transport. And JHK3605, thanks for the shameless plus for the West Coast forums....
