  1. Anybody think those rigs will have second lives somewhere? Just wondering, I know there has been some discussion of how certain rigs in Westchester (and the area) could go down South or something. Just wondering. I wouldn't mind buying up Ladder 28 myself. -Joe DA BUFF, who hopes to own his own fire engine one day.
  2. Thanks for all the clarification guys. Just wondering what was going on! Glad to see that there is cooperation there and that while there may not be county government, the name of Fairfield County has not been lost as a resource! Salut and best of luck with the new rig! -Joe DA BUFF
  3. Does anybody know why it's being sold? My very very second-hand impression is that it was running as a second due truck for Yorktown Heights. Hopefully, someone can clarify. Just curious. -Joe DA BUFF
  4. Nice shots Seth. I had heard that CT DOT was starting this up. Makes sense that they would do I-95, do you know if they're doing I-84 too? I feel better about traveling now. I mean, traveling that stretches wasn't bad, but, with these guys patrolling the roads, I feel even better. -Joe DA BUFF
  5. I have a rather obvious question: In Connecticut, there is no County Government, that being said, I've heard of the Tolland County Fire Dispatch System. I take it this vehicle is paid for by multiple towns and they've decided to make it "Fairfield County" in name only? I'm just curious because Connecticut does have no County Government, and subsequently, no Agency to operate this vehicle under the auspices of "Fairfield County." Thanks. -Joe DA BUFF P.S. I have no malicious intentions about this whole thing. It's just interesting to me that while County Government has been abolished, there is seemingly a vehicle run under the auspices of the County! Thanks!
  6. Hoo-Wee! That NYSP Charger is lookin' fine! Nice history lesson there too. -Joe DA BUFF
  7. ROTFLMAO! Did someone say Tractor-Tipping? GIT-R-DONE! -Joe DA BUFF
  8. I believe this person should be prosecuted for far more than failure to obey a stop sign. How about endangering public employees or interfering with government administration? Just call me Judge Roy Bean and just my humble two cents. As always, blessings and thoughts to the brothers involved. -Joe DA BUFF
  9. Great video. I didn't realize how much pains were taking to make a helmet. Now I realize why leather helmets are so expensive but why they're preferred! Cheers to Cairns! -Joe DA BUFF
  10. Excellent photos! Thank you for sharing. Looks like it was a great effort by all involved to facilitate the extrication. Nice to see the old NYSP color scheme too, and old gear styles! And does that state troopers have a set of bullets on the back of his belt? Thanks! -Joe DA BUFF
  11. How about no new verified membership level? If verification is enough to post and the board administrator expects that postings occur within certain guidelines, why should there be a special reward for simply obeying those guidelines? Yes, I realize that certain people do contribute to meaningful, in-depth discussions that I may not participate in as a mere Buff because I am not thoroughly versed enough in the issue. Perhaps those people deserve recognition. But, what about those of us who do not precipitate disputes or ranting or bashing and merely post when we are able, limited to certain areas? What's to say we won't be looked down upon under this system? I am simply fearful that a new verified membership level will be incredibly subjective and would only further the worst possible concerns of elitism about this board. I realize full well that there are people who may indeed "shine" as posters on this board and there are people who use this board as soapbox for ranting and ranting violently. Certainly the Board Administrator has interests in making the boards as best he wants and preventing the aforementioned strife. But, do we really need a subjectively enforced ranking system? I think not, especially if the Board wants to open up to more members and encourage discussion. The message that one man's posting matters somehow more than another's furthers the worst possible elitist prejudices about this board. Just my humble two cents, and perhaps my concerns are unfounded if there are indeed some objective criteria as to what constitutes this new verified membership. I shall be open to the possibilities, but, my inclination is to be against this new program. Again, just my humble two cents. -Joe DA BUFF
  12. I like this one: http://www.sjvfd.org/ -Joe DA BUFF, who almost visited them this past August!
  13. This group is absolutely disgusting. I'm all in favor of the First Amendment, but this group abuses it. I concur BTW, how about a gay couple right in front of them? And speaking of which, they have been assailed. You Tube them. They were assailed in Delaware. Part of the problem is one of their "elders" is a lawyer. Ah well. -Joe DA BUFF
  14. Nice shots all around! Thanks for sharing! -Joe DA BUFF
  15. Site is looking good! Thanks for sharing! Best of luck with it. Question: Who actually operates Marine 5 or is it a Department wide apparatus, and what kind of boat is Marine 5? Thanks! -Joe DA BUFF, who especially likes Fireboats!
  16. Nice shots Seth! 16-4-2 and 16-4-3 ARE SWEET! I hope 16-4-3 finds a good new home! 16-2-1 looks pretty mean! Thanks for sharing! -Joe DA BUFF, who's likin' the chartreuse and the green!
  17. Question: Why is Briarcliff's antique known as Patrol 16? Was she once a Rescue/Patrol? Thanks. -Joe DA BUFF
  18. And I bet Scoppetta will use this as a further excuse to crack down on us honest BUffs. GRRRRRRRRRR! -Joe DA BUFF
  19. LET'S GO YANKEES! LET'S GO YANKEES! -Joe DA BUFF
  20. That's correct! And I remember that Engine 4 used to be Engine 10! Just interesting to me! In terms of Jacobi Hospital, yes, it would be Squad 61, Ladder 51, Engine 38, etc. Or, it could also be Engine 89 and Ladder 50, depending on the severity of the call. -Joe DA BUFF
  21. Great shots of Rescue 4 Chris! Thanks for sharing. That has got to be a "Collectible" shot of Rescue 1 in front of the old quarters. As always, thanks! -Joe DA BUFF
