  1. Semi off topic, but any plans for the old Engine 94? And while I'm on the subject, what happened to the old Ladder 40? Thanks. -DA BUFF, Who has some photos of Engines 92 and 93 and the new Tower Ladder here:http://firenews.org/ossiningparade.html
  2. Res6cue- You got it right. Some parents are indeed worse than the children. I wonder sometimes if this permissive parenting, in addition to killing people, is (takes deep breath trying not to open a political pandora's box) hurting citizenship, that is, making people unaware of their civic duties or just apathetic. Just my two cents, and I certainly do not mean to start a political debate. Stay Safe and ROCK SOME DISCIPLINE! -DA BUFF
  3. I used to collect Code 3's fairly regularly. Not anymore, money has gotten tight. I still have all 5 Rescues and I also have a few from this area, like West Haverstraw and Governor's Island. I'd like to add Oceanic to my collection one of these days. If I had any kitbashing skills, I'd make some departments, LOL, like Nyack or New Rochelle. -Da Buff
  4. God Bless The Brothers of 23rd Street. GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. The full story of Manny Fernandez had been online somewhere..... It was a wrenching one when I read it. I'm sorry I can't find it now. My dad made a sketch of something having to do with that awful day, I'll see if he remembers it. Thanks Hoss. -DA BUFF
  5. That's a story you don't hear every day. Most Rattlers in this area tend to be found in Northwestern Jersey. I saw a Rattler in the wild once, almost 10 years ago. I hope the First Due Companies at the Staten Island Zoo keep Anti-Venin on hand, because the S.I. Zoo has quite the collection of Venomous Snakes, including the most dangerous snake in America, the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake. Stay Safe... and look out for the 10-75 on Broadway in Staten Island! -Da Buff
  6. (Racks his brain for a moment...) Charlton, MA (distant, obviously from the main jurisdiction of this board has a beautiful Maxim Tanker. And it's ALL Maxim, an S-Model, not with other bodywork or something. East Haven, CT used to run a Maxim until very recently. There are photos on FDNYTrucks.com, I believe. Armonk also runs a Maxim as Engine 287-D'oh! Spring Valley used to have a Maxim..... Sparkill runs a Pirsch, not a Maxim.... I can't think of any others at the moment. I hope this helps. -Da Buff
  7. The Nyack Parade was indeed awesome! I regret that I can't remember anymore of the trophies, but here are some of my photos:http://www.ladywarrenhose5.com/NyackParadePics2006.html Enjoy! If people are interested in more photos, I'll be happy to post them. -Da Buff
  8. Hey all. I'm a newbie to this Forum, although I've visited this site many times and admired the photos since last year. My question is, and perhaps this is better suited in another forum, does anybody have any photos/memories/thoughts on the Ford Crown Victoria's immediate predecessor, the LTD Crown Victoria? I realize that it may sound silly, but the car has sentimental value to me. My Grandfather drove a cab in New York for 40 years and that was his last cab, a 1984 LTD Crown Vic. I never saw the car in Taxi Guise, but I still remember it. It had been repainted blue, I even remember the plate numbers, 778 something. My reason for asking if this is better suited for another forum is because I also wondered if anybody had any photos of the thing serving as a Chief's Car. I've seen ones from Massachusetts, Suffern, and Tappan, and I've seen it in Police Guise for the Towns of New Castle and Mount Pleasant, but not other local jurisdictions. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. -Da Buff
  9. As they say, you drink, you drive, you lose. People should know better. One drink can affect your ability to drive!!
  10. Hey all. Newbie here. Everybody beat me to it!! Ah well. The Hudson Line is shared with Amtrak, Empire Service, Adirondack, and Ethan Allen Express trains stop at Yonkers, Croton-Harmon, and Poughkeepsie (there is no local service though between those stations, it's all to points north or arriving from points south). That is an interesting train; reminds me of a similar one I saw passing through New Rochelle some time last winter. Maybe it was that same train.... There was an FL-9, a "Work" locomotive, and a tank car, and two flat cars, I believe. Good photos!
