  8. That funny thing is an air conditioner. And maybe the White with Red and Blue stripes is a new paint scheme?
  9. Wow, a midmount straight stick...last one I saw in service was Yorktown's antique Lafrance (kidding bout antique). Peekskill used to have 1 too, a long long time ago!
  10. Not for nothing but isn't the bridge MTA or TBTA and those are separate entities than the city so the money for that name change is probably allocated by their own independent budget that is collected via tolls and other taxes but is separate than the city's operational budget. NYC isn't the only location that will be seeing changes, there may be another city close to there! We all understand that cutting of police and fire isn't essentially good, but at times in life there are necessary changes to be made because of the financial crisis. What should we just take everyone else's paychecks to keep up the lines so they can't even afford to live where there is protection? Eventually we will boom again and things will get better and new things will happen, sometimes we have to take the bad in order to get the good!
  11. There is also a movie being filmed in Dobbs Ferry (I think that is where I saw them). When my daughter and I were driving around Tuesday, Haddad's was lined up along Rte 9 at a pretty cool looking park that I had never noticed before.

  13. Sounds like another great opportunity for a criminal to get access to someone else's home. I am glad I don't live in Mt. Vernon...what is to stop him from committing crimes while on duty such as burglary if he has a history of being a criminal? Look what just happened in NY City with the cop Abaje-Diaz! They overlooked things and then what happened. Sorry, but if you are convicted of real crimes, not violations, maybe civil service isn't for you.
  14. He was before my time, but his memory lives on at Empress and with those who did work for him! I wish I had met him because everyone has such fond memories of him! Rest in peace!
  15. Use what you can...any department involved. If you need higher resolution you can email me and I will forward to you with your specs at my earliest convenience. I find it surprising how in 1 forum people attack people personally and in another people are thankful to that same person...you know who you are!
  16. Well, I used my "new" Canon Rebel XTS last night with a stock 18-35 IS lens. Was meaning to buy an extra battery for it. I also have the x901 camera...Canon Rebel original, but they changed the battery pack between models and also the media card format went from CF to SD...fortunately I own a host of electronics so I have 6-8 GB of both laying around at any given time. Next time I hear the 2nd set of horns and then go to check, I will bring the bag and gear.
  17. It should be, but it won't stop anyone...just for 10 minutes one day, pay attention to how many people are talking on their hand held cell phones while driving. It is astonishing...nobody really cares!

  22. Yonkers should take over Greenburgh...lol
  23. I am not against dumping it in the harbor...but won't that take a little longer? Also need more than 1 truck...It's all water to me!
  24. No need for an argument...really now! The same snow would melt with salt or naturally and go down the same sewer drains and end up wherever in the end, no? So by picking up the snow and melting it, we see a reduction in amount of salt needed, although we still have environmental impact we have no idea how to figure out the difference, cost is probably similar for fuel and amount of salt needed to melt same snow, and it is faster than natural melting. Also gets the snow out of there in a hurray and clears up street paths that people would be parking in cause snow would be pushed aside! Did I mention that I like this idea?
