I don't enjoy looking at it so far...will keep checking back...but for now it is ugly. The CAD drawings are more pleasing...maybe it was the color at first glance.

Blue with a Gold Stripe!

Are they replacing an Engine and the Rescue or just the Engine? Just curious as to why Verplanck would need a Rescue Pumper.
-
There are some places that use there type rigs as routine EMS units...I have seen bigger...especially in NC and FL.

I can't believe it is 10 years already.

This is the location. x635 got it first but since he has enough lights, bob803 can have the light...unless you really want it Seth. The correct address is 160 Warburton Ave, located at the intersection of Ashburton/Warburton Ave's. Thanks for playing!

Went by Mulford Gardens yesterday on my way to get our dinner. I know that there is only one person still living there but wow what a difference (sorry). I could have sworn I saw a huge dust bunny flying around. Of course, it will be torn down soon so I am planning a trip in early to work to photo the place prior to destruction. And for all those who had to find their way through the maze when they worked at Empress, we will miss it! Oh and apparently the lady living there is suing so I don't know how long it will be til it is officially cleared out! Fact: Mulford Gardens Housing Compex aka Emmet Burke Gardens located in the confines of the 4th Police Pct., first due E309/L71, Empress Post 2 bus, between Vineyard Ave to the East and St Josephs Ave to the West, High St to the north and Mulford to the South...(that is wrong but I cannot remember the st name) 3 floor attached row type brick buildings...approximately 70-80 units in all...very narrow alleyways located between rows which are built diagonal stretching from sw to ne with entrances located on the north side of the buildings.

What???? No winner yet???? We suck!!!!!!!!

We have heard about a "new" jail. I have not heard where. I will have to get some shots of the "old" jail for my archives. And I do agree on a YPD/YFD Marine substation, maybe they can add it the the new environmental center/park opposite the jail...the bezack center??? Would seem appropriate as to location. The city pier is out...now with the restaurant nearing completion. The JFK Marina is a great spot, but not sure if it is buildable (?) other than those 2 locations there is no place I can see...and trust me, x901 and I used to well, I'll just say roam off post a bit! or explore the city of Yonkers in depth while assigned to EMS duties. Right Dave!?

Here are the pictures of the Ghost Town:

I agree with a centralized communications center. Even if home rule still applies all the dispatchers and calltakers should be in one building and on one CAD system. Dispatchers with experience (Senior or promoted) should make decisions on mutual aid based on need and response time. Even if you want to hire your own personnel they should have to work in the centralized center and off of the Countywide CAD system. This would alleviate long wait times while dialing 911 because a small town only has 1 or 2 people on the phones and they are not ready for the big one. Listen, don't get me wrong, there are many times when we could use more bodies in Yonkers. Phones just keep ringing ya know and people have to wait to be served, but the more people work together the better for the public. In the centralized center there could be a major fire in Elmsford and maybe 15-20 calls come in and dispatchers from all over the county are able to answer and put info into the system for the Elmsford dispatch coordinator whom then doesn't have to worry about the phone for a minute and is able to concentrate on providing safety instructions, bolo's, and on demand communication with units in the field responding and operating at an incident. As well this would help with policing. Persons files can be kept, and vehicle files as well and if an incident occurs a dispatcher would be able to notify a unit of all police contact that suspect has had and why...maybe even if they have a pistol permit or something. Safety is the major concern on the PD side and this would help somewhat more than what we have now. Just cause someone has no warrants doesn't mean they are not a danger and other dept's may have dealt with them in the past and have info to share with the rest. Ah, it will never happen but it would be nice!
