Now they park in the lot at 722...so the parking has been rectified and the only one's breaking into your car is your partner! Still kind of low pay...still do transports...but no more YGH to Regency...instead YGH calls 911 for anything and everything!!!!!!!so you have to go there even more!!!!

Some 911 call in Yonkers about a female, a rubber band, and not being able to get it off of her clitoris (can I say that?)!!!!!!

Individual Departments have separate SOG's correct. So do all of them have response priorities? How about; Do people actually follow them? And is there a disciplinary program for those who just do what they want? As well there are some that abuse blue/green light procedures, and one that almost hit me playing basketball in front of my house years back in Buchanan! No alarm, just joy riding around like a maniac with lights flashing...you know who you are!

Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association Volunteer Ambulance Corps (MVFA-VAC) Port Chester Rye Rye Brook Emergency Medical Services (PCRRB*EMS) Cortlandt Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps (CCVAC) Looks like Mohegan wins the prize...unless: Croton Fire District and Unincorporated Hamlets of Southern Cortlandt Volunteer Ambulance Corps....becomes their official name.

I see the blue LED's on the lower half of the Vista light bar on the troopers units the best. I see them all the time on the road and they really catch your attention. As well amber is good cause people think it ain't important...just dot cleaning up! I don't know if that part is really true but just a guess.

It is scary cause a couple of the people I work with at Yonkers 911, used to work at Empress too. They drove a "Cadillac Ambulance", yes, Empress prior to the Minerva's was run out of 90 Livingston Ave...the radio identifier was 2014...fyi! I can't believe 67 is not in Mt Vernon no mo'...Did anyone put a blue lens on the new bus...cause that is one tradition that should definitely remain!!!!! As well maybe a green pancake light on the dash...just for old times sake...RU911/FAC911 We should plan an ALUMNI Bar-b-q at Cook or Tibbets this summer!!!! That could be pretty cool!

Great Post! Safety should be everyone's concern...If you care about colors go be an artist! I think the RA's look great...really gets your eye!!!!!

I know that unit #27 was a McCoy Miller demo...if that helps. Other than that I have seen a number of ambulances around the city (and at St Joes/Johns) while at work and such. Remember that all the Medix units when first delivered were failing electrically all the time. The lights wouldn't work sometimes and so on...I noticed that most have been converted to LED and wondered if that fixed the problem that came with the original delivery. Also should get some photos of their SOD trailer...was manufactured on Empress site by members.

Most police cars are turned off and locked at the scene...granted they usually spend more time at location than EMS, but FD on EMS calls seem to always leave all their emergency lights on. I think that is not necessary. Once you are there, there really is no more emergency so why do they get left on??? It blinds others and creates crowds. On the contrary there are times when LIGHTS are important...major scenes where you need to get everyones attention, but routine calls you should use some discretion. As well, why don't fire depts also have response priorities? I can't speak for everyone but almost all the time I hear units dispatched on non-priority type calls, such as water conditions with good information and then you hear the responding units blaring away with lights and sirens to, what I consider (IMO), a non emergency type call. I mean if the persons are trapped in house that is being washed away that is one thing, but a pump out of a basement or a pipe burst in a wall...come on now!

Scary!

I agree with 636...there are times when a dispatcher or the dispatched units feel it is necessary to put the chopper on stand by. This is not a problem. If they are needed somewhere else than take them. Otherwise why not have them ready to go if it is the "big one"? Sometimes the helicopter is useful, but I don't think anyone should ever wait for the helicopter once it is called. If you get there and are able to run and shoot to the ER than why waste it??? Otherwise you may get on scene and realize that you need it and they are ready to go! BTW they are getting paid whether they fly or not!!!! No need to worry about them...put em in the bird on standby, get their adrenaline flowing a little! Oh, and HQ to Air 2...jk

Yonkers has a couple...one mounted on 505 car (housing) which for a while was being redirected around to the precincts. Every once and a while they will do a detail in the 3rd Pct with one....usually on channel 3 until they stop one...it goes nuts down here almost ridiculous at times...just one thing to remember for users....CHECK THE STATE...one of our cars was looking for a stolen NY plate...trouble is car they were behind had OHIO plates and all the reader does is recognize the numbers based on infrared reflection (refraction...one or the other)...so you still have to pay attention!

Longest name in Westchester!!!! PCRRBVAC or is it Mohegan????? Anyways, I would like it if x901 could take some pictures and one day get around to posting them. You know, if he isn't too busy!

If you are on your way to and from work, then you should not have to pay...as long as you are willing to help if a condition arises in which you are needed. You should also inform the conductor of such prior to boarding (MNRR trains at least) and they will sometimes direct you to a special car for employees and others that is locked...this way they will know where to find you. This is the idea behind police officer free pass...gun on the train programs. It should work for both fire and ems professionals as well...just remember they are donating a service to you in return for your service if necessary...then it is not a "FREE RIDE" which would be unethical.

First of all what is IN-MORAL???? try immoral...secondly, I am sure they are not the first crew to ever videotape or take pictures of patients. If it were used for training purposes, no one would have a problem with it. My problem is with the #sshole that sent a copy in anonymously to all these people...talk about a grudge...this person is worse to the system than those who filmed the video! This is the person who would go out of their way to screw you into losing your job!!!! Everyone makes mistakes, but the person who released these videos was out for BLOOD! and I am sure this was not the first time nor the last time they will stab a fellow MOS in the back over a grudge!!!! If they killed someone that would be different...but this is a stressful career and they were probably just looking for a way to blow off some steam...

Mine is Oswegowind...I actually went to school in oswego and the wind there was ridiculous...there were even days when you weren't supposed to go outdoors if you were under 90lbs. I used the name originally as an aol instant messenger name so that my then girlfriend (now don't know where she is) and I could communicate without killing our pockets. She attended Albany and after the first month our parents were a little upset about the phone bill on both ends...high school sweethearts and all we were inseperable, well sort of...and so I decided to use it on this site. Sorry to bore you but I would like to know about the origin of your emtbravo name and what it means to you.
-
What is preventing it? I mean at some time we all had to do something like this for our departments. It is just a matter of doing it right.
-
We could all use a tax break. It is getting ridiculous. We use our local library, donate and all...and we are taxed by the Town and by the School District and I still can't understand why I am taxed twice for the same service!!!!!! As well, the three local FD's that make up the TriVillage Response where I live already work together all the time, why not just have 1 fire department with enough members and not 3 separate with not enough? Three bills for every thing as opposed to 1? This is why I like Peekskill's plan to centralize their dept to one house!

How were they done originally...if on a computer program..ie microsoft word...you can find the original and just correct, edit, and add the information and save and print and then the format remains the same. If they are handwritten, why not type them up and save them on a disk (cd/dvd) for backup purposes and easy copying and distribution. As well typed is always more legible than someone else chicken scratch!
