Huh, and I had no inside information.

Just a bit more: Their EMS systems kills ours! and that is run by the NHS as well! Also about the hospital's situation, some doctors that admit patients at hospitals in our immediate area (i.e. Hudson Valley Hosp @ Peek/Cort) are also on staff of, you guessed it, a major Health Insurance Company. A family member of mine worked there for some time in QA/QI and witnessed first hand at least 3 doctors holding patients in the hospital as admission and then denying there claim when reviewed by the insurance company! Double dipping!!!!! MD makes money off hospital visits, insurance doesn't pay, you end up with the bill, MD makes money by saving the insurance co money...interesting huh?

Note: I have not seen this movie and do not plan on seeing it anytime soon. That said, there are things that we can learn from other systems and things that they can learn from us. The waiting lists that are being discussed are really no longer than those we have here, now. A few years ago the waits in the UK were unreasonable however they have since corrected that. Things considered elective you still wait for just as you do here in the US but it is maybe a week or two weeks. My wife worked in the NHS (UK) at Homerton Hospital for 3 years prior to moving here and her friend was just in town and we were discussing this issue. We say our system is not socialist in any aspect but come on here, we just don't admit to our socialist ways. We pay for welfare, medicare, medicaid, and all those other "special programs" that have been developed over time to gain votes for politicians. If that isn't a socialist ideal then show me! I pay taxes so someone else who doesn't work can apply to get benefits from the government to whom I pay my taxes too. I guess I am just looking to rant a bit! Listen, over there they get 4 weeks vacation as a cop, ff, emt, paramedic, nurse, doctor...that is universal at the start of your employment. Same goes for Australia! Their salaries are competitive with ours and I have yet to hear complaint about the garnishment of wages cause here in America they are called TAXES! Their taxes may be at a higher rate but they are under fair tax and they have no sales tax. By the time we are done paying our taxes it works out to just as much if not more than what they pay! I do not support Michael Moore, however we all need to open our minds a little bit...It is continuously present how closed minded people can be! No one said you had to take what he says as word, but maybe there is some truth to it, beyond your own little world that you live in! And I'm spent!

How hard is it to find a diecast company to work with...even overseas or maybe matchbox and start up a collectibles business, I mean overhead can't be that much cause of pre-orders and things...and even investors. I don't know much about the facilitation of production and cost associated there with...

I have noticed a bit of a reduction in the illegal pennsylvania plates...lately at least they are all current and have a real owner, for a while they were notorious with being not on file, revoked (due to bad check), or just plain fake! Still see some around but don't see them getting stopped all that often. And as for MA, they probably are running drugs, but I didn't say that!!!

Congrats to all the new cops...stay low and stay safe...that ain't right! And a special congrats to that EMTB member! Now take the Yonkers test and come earn some cash!

I don't know. Maybe the State DOT Tows, i.e. the Tappan Zee clearing team but I don't think the contracted 3rd party services have Tway identifiers. County towing has the contract for the Yonkers Vicinity on the NYS Tway, I will ask them if they communicate with NY on the radio or just on the phone like they do with us.

I see that van everyday and keep forgetting to get some shots! At least someone got em... Now, what is the purpose (Disaster Relief) in detail, and what does it carry?

Rob, I disagree with your statement...laying to rest is important, no one here is saying that they were wrong in the way this situation was handled, and I am sure that any firefighter who has died in the line of duty would want us to review the "W's" (who, what, why...) so that no other firefighter has to experience the same thing. As we all know, HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF! Let us learn from this incident so that we (even just our small online community) may not have to suffer this tragedy ourself! It also sounds as though there was an unusual situation, the tornado of flames is something I am interested in finding out about how this occurred. Also, were these members "inside" or working near the premise when the collapse occurred? Was FAST/RIT in place and once the situation happenned what type of response procedure was in place, meaning additional resources to assist in search and rescue? And if you are really good, what would you do as IC and what are your departmental procedures, cause this condition would overwhelm the on scene FAST/RIT...is there a standing order for additional FASTeams and don't forget the need for more than just the usual 1 ambulance stand by!

Wonder if it has the cellphone blocker thing in it...It has enought cameras though...and does the floor open up ?????

And a big fat lawsuit if someone crashes that really isn't needed... Yonkers: City St (24 RD): Engine, Ladder, Battalion Highway (24 HW): 2 Engines, Ladder, Battalion, and sometimes Safety Battalion Somewhat well hydranted city with resources within 2-3 minutes of most calls. Engines, I believe, carry 500 gallons, ladders are just ladders...no pump, no h2o

No, it is the hospital's responsibility! The hospital should be competent enough to see that patients are cared for properly. Waiting times being too long at one hospital are not a reason to call 911...there is a proper way to go about that! The hospital should have recognized the situation...how can a 911 dispatcher override what a nurse who has first hand knowledge of the patients condition has decided. That is not our job...that is why they have triage. Sad as it may be I don't believe in sending EMS to an emergency room which is a higher level of care, or is supposed to be. I have a feeling there is more to this story than we are being told...also this hospital seems to be trouble. As for sending the police...not all cops are medically trained so what can they do, also they don't have any authority to tell a doctor he is not doing his job...that is what the DOH is for. This is not any fault of 911, the issue is with the hospital and the hospital alone!

Probably cause the "email" is sent to your phonenumber@wirelessprovidernetwork.com

Why did you remain quiet...TIC's are not free...they are made for the fire service and if there is an issue with the product the company should be more than willing to correct it. They should've have done better research to begin with and this issue would not be an issue! Heavy duty is the only way things get done in the emergency services!
-
That is really cool...can we get one? How much do they run?

As Toy Buff said POT vehicle...used at least once in Mt. Vernon on a hostage job about 5-6 years ago... Some Empress crew went in with MVPD and NYPD ESU to grab a pregnant female out of the 1st floor apt of the same bldg who called 911 to say she was in labor...hard to be in labor when you are 3 mo's pregnant though!
