  1. What the Cello? Cause you can ride with one at Empress...lol Otherwise, good luck! and enjoy the ride!
  2. If you have time see the comments on this article in the forums section. Funny! I am sure in any language, someone asking if you need a taxi and how much for a bj are clearly recognizable! Here is the link: Lohud.com Prostitution Bust Story, Peekskill, NY On a side note, there are some pretty troopers over there in the Peekskill/Cortlandt area. LOL
  3. As long as you are not operating in a commercial type operation while using the parkway there should not be a problem. I don't even get "combination" what is it actually for, even in CT? It creates a pain in the arse when one is stopped cause you have to run them by vin, at least in NY when running CT combos!
  4. This is a great "plan B". It is an idea that can work. Goose, I volunteered for years and worked for years in both types of systems...just happened to have volunteered in this zone as a member of Peekskill and Cortlandt VACs and a fully paid system is not the answer, sorry. If the originating agency gets a crew on the first or second tone, then the EMT Fly Car is not dispatched, however if only 1 person from the originating agency assembles, EMT/Driver or Driver only, then that person takes the ambulance to the scene and the on duty Zone Wide EMT responds as the 2nd member of the crew. While the Paramedic is also responding. Where as in the past we have rode with the medics as a partner, certain crews not always available, and I personally have ridden in BLS calls for other jurisdictions, including Croton and Mohegan on their ambulances while operating with the Medic in the Fly Car, The ALS fly car system has sinced changed thus this is not the answer anymore, as well there are 3 paramedic agencies that cover this zone. By having the EMT avail, the medic does not get stuck on a job he is not required for and keeps this very important resource available to additional calls. Paramedics have had to ride in jobs for some time due to a lack of qualified staff responding to jobs. I believe that the EMT fly car would best be suited to be staged either at Peekskill VAC or at Hudson Valley Hospital, and this could become a paid position where the EMT also has duties in the ER such as assisting during down time or can remain 100% volunteer, where as the volunteer would have to stay within the zone limits while on duty but could attend to personal business during down time. In fact if I can manage to find the time to take an EMT course soon, I would even help to staff this vehicle as best I could around my work and personal schedule. On a side note, I also believe that Croton should become a member of the Zone wide system and that CRP should become their ALS agency since they are a part of the Town of Cortlandt. Ossining does a fantastic job there, but they are an incorporated village in the Town. JMO! Ambulance Resources: CCVAC 88b1, b2, b3, rehab unit, officers unit PCVAC 75b1, b2, b3, officers unit VFD 83b1 Croton FD 55b1, b2 LMFDVAC 69b1, b2, b3, injury prevention unit YVAC 86b1, b2, b3 CRP 35m1, 35m2 PFD 39m1, 39m2 YVAC 34m1, m2(day time) OVAC (i got no idea) I am sure I am missing something, though. Would like to see current membership numbers.
  5. Please enter the lottery...so that when I win, I will win BIG! LOL...just thought I would help Seth out while he is somewhere doing something other than "bravoing"...that word is being copyrighted! EMT Bravo Lottery Link!
  6. The problem is the public is a much larger entity than us and they don't ever think they are wrong!
  7. Since she only ever called 60 Control. Personally I have not heard from her in a long time...However for those familiar with Mr. Davey, he is still kicking and calling 3-4 times a week. For those who don't know him, he is absolutely nuts! He thinks the FBI is tapping him, the Mafia is following him, and when he is in Tibbetts Brook Park he says they use hot female joggers as their spies so they don't lose track of him. He also believes that I set up a YPD bug at his house last week, after I convinced him of this of course! Makes the job interesting none the less, and I hear he goes out to Long Island also!
  8. On an Emergency whether called in to 911 or to your direct number, you may park pretty much anywhere you like, however you can't just park somewhere and think it is going to be okay during routine business. Any emergency vehicle should be ticketed if abusing their status while not operating at an emergency! Regardless of what the side of the unit may say! Courtesy is one thing and is fine once in a while, but abuse is a whole other monster! I understand why the Hatzolah Amb. Service exists and don't think anyone needs sensitivity training cause if you break the law then you do the time! Religion is one thing and I can respect that but don't use it to get yourself around the laws that exist for everyone, not just john smith or ellen barkin, they are there for everyone! And guys, be careful with your words, this is a public site...if your opinion is obviously offensive to an ethnic group, entitled to it you are, but keep it to yourself.
  9. Pretty cool site I saw tonight though...County Police Mounted Unit en route to the feast. Wonder if they are going to be in the parade or are just providing police presence. Usually the State Troopers are out in force at this event! Wonder why......lol
  10. Well I won't be there then...gotta work...to bad! The weather just started to clear up a bit!
  11. 32.7 is the whole town...15% is water...the 4 areas focused on are Valhalla, about 2; Hawthorne, about 2; Pleasantville, about 2; and Thornwood, close to 4...that is square miles. By being an associate member via the joint effort of each VAC other than your primary where you are active, you are insured responding to calls. 30 seconds was meant as the time between dispatch and no one picking up a radio and calling in, not a response time...some may drive fast but I am not eluding to being beamed to the job...so make it a minute for someone to call in...reduce the time you are already waiting...obviously if no one calls in in the first 30-60 seconds why wait the full 3 minutes, so they can make up their mind...push them a bit by hitting the tones again and making them make that decision rather than think about what that job could entail. 3 minutes seems to give people a way out...oh maybe someone else will pick it up... ALS rides every call in. Are you serious? Why even have EMTs????? You receive training for a reason and should not take the 1 paramedic out of service cause you are not comfortable with handling the case. Standard of care is one thing, but lets be realistic, not every job is ALS! And the dispatch system needs some work...60 control maybe????? Might be a good idea!
  12. Is there any slightly elevated positions preferably around a left turn on the parade route. I will be there with my 4 gig mem card and will be putting together a virtual parade to embed on this site via youtube. Of course I will make a copy for VFD especially if they hook me up with a good shooting area...hint hint hint...
  13. not emt's or drivers...they have to be qualified in both and evoc certified! It then should not matter what insurance co the individual vac has because these persons will become associate members of the other agencies by being under the umbrella of a task force. They will only have access to their individual vac's property (ie passcode/key) and voting powers of the home agency, but technically will be a member of the other vac that subscribes to the task force. Who cares who is driving the paid emt to the hospital as long as someone is doing it and the patient is not waiting an unreasonable amount of time for help to arrive. If you've driven one ambulance, you've driven em all! If pville don't want a val vac person driving their rig then so be it, let the paid persons drive (like in the career/volunteer fire depts) then you are spending your money on a chauffeur. The only officer you will need in the task force is at least one liaison officer, there to deal with problems between the three, and this should not be a member of any individual agency, but an outside source, like local judge or respected member of the town that can deliberate without a home team mindset. And remember, this is a back up plan to what already exists. You can't just respond cause you want to...you have to be called in to help, however this would be used before going fully mutual aid on a job. First tone, no crew-paid emt/driver leaves house for scene immediately. Second tone, 30 seconds after initial dispatch, no takers from that agency?. Third tone, 1 minute later, tones for all 3 are used and broadcast for available emt/driver for the Town of Mt Pleasant. Still no one? Job originated in Valhalla (per say for this example), Hawthorne VAC has paid emt/driver with volunteer driver only avail, mutual aid enacted, HFD*EMS to scene as well and VVAC paid emt on scene already turns job over to HFD for transport and goes back in service. ALS job? Paid medic rides it in with the HFD paid emt and HFD vol driver. VVAC emt still needs to go back in service and now becomes first due for both... Good luck either way...
  14. Considering that 911 is for emergencies, anyone who calls more than 10 times in their life should be shot! LOL...But there are the few that we know personally cause they have personal emergencies everyday and just need some advice (or to talk to their favorite dispatcher) and 900 numbers ain't free. Although these persons are harmless they do tie up emergency lines and personnel with their extensive conversations, that usually end in no one needing help at all, and therefore burden everyone in the center cause the phones don't stop ringing do they now? Reasons not to call 911: A stray cat got in my house, my power just went out (unless you are on life support), what time are the fireworks, and can I order a large pizza with extra cheese!
  15. VacGuy, I have never worked in Mt. Pleasant, for any of the agencies, but isn't it true that all of them (3 right?) are having difficulty establishing EMS crews during the day? I don't know which one you are involved in but maybe it is time to open your mind. Mt. Pleasant really isn't that big correct...As per the 2000 census it is 32.7 square miles which includes the areas known as Pleasantville, Sleepy Hollow, Pocantico Hills, Valhalla, Thornwood, Hawthorne, portion of Briarcliff Manor, and Eastview. Briarcliff has its own ambulance through the FD and their medics come from Ossining (Tri-Village or Community right) so they are in with Ossining and Croton. I really don't know about Sleepy Hollow or Pocantico Hills or who covers the latter...but Valhalla, Thornwood, Hawthorne, and Pleasantville are all connected...my question is how many calls go out per average during the 0600-1800 block? Total for the 4 areas. Now take the total number of resources available (ambulances)? How many qualified EMT/Drivers do each agency have? Now form a Town Wide task force for EMS....each of those EMT/Drivers (qualified in both!) can still belong to their home agency when it comes to hanging out, washing the bus, parades, playing pool (never had a pool table anywhere I belonged...pretty cool), meetings, and any other home town thing that they care for. But, when a job goes out in Hawthorne and after the first tone, the paid emt is still all by his lonesome then tone out all 3 agencies for the available EMSTF EMT/Driver cause John Smith of Valhalla may be off that day and just happen to be in Hawthorne and can answer the call by meeting the Ambulance on the scene or having the bus pick him up on the way. Now you don't have to lose your individualism, but can play nice in a much larger sandbox and still help the people that need it when they call. Just an idea, but think it over...may be just what you are looking for....And stop pissing in everyone's cheerios cause they don't see it your way...we all have opinions... Quick fact, the largest portion of the 4 is Thornwood at 3.2 sq miles and they don't have their own Ambulance...
  16. I was asking an innocent question...I believe that Hawthorne took a STEP in the right direction in this case, however there are still issues that can be resolved. Nothing is ever perfect. Patient care is important but every time you question someone's judgment on this site people go defensive because they believe there is no other way to see it! I do agree with the comment about a town-wide system...A few years ago, when I did volunteer for 2 ambulance organizations while working for a 3rd I realized that a town-wide agreement could go a long way! After consulting with a number of persons we kind of got around the individual agency thing and made it so a member of 1 service could ride in a job on another service's unit in order to cover the call in a timely fashion, sort of similar to the medic riding in a job cause an agency can't get the proper crew together. If one agency got a job and an EMT made it to the call, the mutual aid agency would get a driver and send the "bus", I rode in a call for a few different agencies during this time and filled out the ACR in the jurisdictions name cause it was really their job. EMT is a statewide recognized title, not an individual agency. An EMT has to follow state and remac protocols...it really doesn't matter what the side of the ambulance says, but allowing an emt of an organization that is your neighbor to help you out once in a while would not hurt, and may cover that whole patient care issue! As for the comment of "paid" ems agencies...slow down cause a lot of those that get paid do a very good job and don't shame the name of EMS one bit!
  17. Well, the scanner call is true! I was off...which was even worse than being there...cause the peeps at work had a ball with it. No comment is probly what they will get, the media that is...The PD has a PIO and the FD, well, I think we refer it to the A/C on duty. And yes, she is eating junk food...she is almost 3 years old and weighs about 25 lbs...which is good for her mom and dad's backs but she is a tiny little thing...asian influence on her mother's side is responsible for that! We were on vacation you know...there are no rules when you are away from home, right?
  18. Well in Yorktown, the Empress medics wear the Empress EMS uniform with a Yorktown ALS patch...I am pretty sure but RU911 will be able to clarify this I am sure!
  19. Here is the story from Wikipedia...you make your own call: Dalmations in the Fire Service on Wikipedia.com
  20. Very limited selection (1 video) but working hard on it with my new HP Media Center 8120!! Masonzone3 YouTube! Up to 6 now...I need a nap!
  21. When does this begin? Or did it already? And what is the uniform requirements...is it simple empressems emt light blue with their logos or is Hawthorne coming up with their own?
  22. Just as long as no dopes from this site ever call my job again to ask if their scanner is on a delay!!!! Posting my number all over South Yonkers...that has probly already been done by someone I work with!
  23. Hotlink provided free of charge...cause I like your videos...LOL: NRFD Buff's YouTube link
