Matters how you look at it...justice isn't truly blind...America is capitalist...tough to choose a side but life isn't always fair! I guess the money they have helps them out but where should it end. Following the Spector case here and there and you can see how they are paying people to attempt to sway the jury...should there be limits on financial resources imposed in trials? I don't know...

Saw 3K81 with a low profile edge light bar...looked LED with colored filters...sort of like the one on the pics of the new SP Charger on EMTB.com... Isn't 81 a K9 unit? Just thought it was...and I definitely like the new Tahoe's and are seeing them more and more around...especially in Cortlandt! Finally a buffed out State Police vehicle! LED's, rotators, arrow sticks...what is next?

My reaction is "DUH!" I mean what is he thinking? My other thought is, how many times does this happen and no one is caught...cause it seems to happen enough generally....not everyday but probably more than what we hear

Buchanan, Verplanck have markers in the street. In Wilmington NC they now have blue reflectors that are raised off of the pavement slightly (like highway markers) in side of the blue painted hydrant locater to make it easier at night!

Extra pay for having laptops, that is great, give me 5! As for the actual topic, this is a modern feature that is proving its importance as a safety tool, as well as one of the best resources for up to date information. Some areas connect theirs to the CAD system such as FDNY, and also load extras such as HAZMAT lookup and stuff, structural plans, hydrant plans, water main plans, roadway plans, firefighter safety during longer than normal events (monitoring of time in/out, hydration, physical/vital sign exams, rest and rehab, etc), EMS protocol, and even EmtBravo.com (LOL). Having an internet connection via a wireless source is also a great asset, just make sure it is password protected and the officer has to log on each time and logs off automatically after unused for 15-20 minutes to prevent tampering and unauth content! This way you can look up other things such as what to do in a minor mercury spill in a private home and print out the instructions provided by NYSDEC for the caller. As well you can print out a copy of how to use the CO detector from the manufacturer for all the times they call when their battery is dying! Probably the best and most useful resource I can think of.

I actually got to see this program first hand, by accident...My daughter insisted on visiting the Riverfront Green yesterday here in Peekskill and this is where they were training on felony stops. It is good to teach people how to act when they are stopped in 5-10 years...J/K LOL.

The following article taken from LoHud.com: Thief steals car left running, unattended at White Plains gas station By NICOLE NEROULIAS THE JOURNAL NEWS (Original publication: July 23, 2007) WHITE PLAINS - Police are searching for a man who stole a car from a gas station this morning. The car, a silver 1999 Acura, was left running and unattended while its driver was in the Sunoco Mini Mart at 395 Central Ave., police said. The thief drove off around 6:30 a.m. The incident prompted White Plains police Lt. Joe Castelli to remind drivers that it is illegal to leave vehicles running while unattended. "That might help us cut down on these kinds of crime," he said, referring to this morning's theft. "It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's just something that's preventable." The description of the thief was sketchy. Anyone with information about this crime can call White Plains police at 914-422-6111. Check back for updates at LoHud.com. I personally feel that the idiot that leaves their car running unattended sort of deserves this. This is not the 1920's!!!!! People are not honest, in case you didn't know! How about ticketing the person for idling unoccupied auto, since as Lt. Castelli states, it is illegal!!!!!...Also does insurance cover this, when people are plain stupid? I am off today and don't have my own VTL book, what is the section if anyone knows...

How about the State employ a Marine safety inspection plan that includes handing out stickers to local LE throughout the state that they can place on boats with a date of when the Safety check was done. Sort of like our current NYS Inspection stickers for cars. Color coded for years. Placed on boat near reg ID, large enough to see from 20-30 feet without a problem. Then stops can occur less frequently and not be so bothersome to boaters. Understandably, cars aren't stopped that often for safety inspections. If not on the State level, then maybe the region (Hudson Valley, LI Sound, NYC, Finger Lakes...you get the point).

Thanks much! True, but can this qualify as fraud? Like, say I have a beat up car and need to get rid of it so I leave it running on Elliott Av in Yonkers and then report it stolen...although they may not know my intentions, they may hang me no? HYPOTHETICAL! Alright, maybe that is a little different than the case at hand, but couldn't they say to the person prove that you didn't leave the keys in the car on purpose to get rid of it...I guess I am just annoyed that because of incidents such as this I pay insurance costs that I feel are unreasonable and am sure that all NYers are with me on that, especially those on this site!

And maybe soon enough, just to fly around the country domestically (redundant, I know).

Beyond the bashing that is going on and should stop, Alamo is right, they have to provide equal service to all residents within the town, whether they are incarcerated, bedridden, walking wounded, whatever the case may be. Planning for this is up to the town and the fire department, technically pre-planning but it may be passed the pre stage at this time. The comment about, what if there was a fire, is absolutely correct, should they disregard that "property" cause it will take units out of service for too long a period of time? No, do your job. If another calls comes in, handle it or go mutual aid...that is why the system is in place!

It goes to show you that journalism is a one sided media. They are not supposed to express opinion, just report the facts and allow the readers to come to their own conclusion/opinion! If they had asked the USCG or any of the PD's involved in this operation then they would have the whole story and disseminate things accurately rather than make the police out to be the enemy once again. Safety is not first on anyone's mind until after the fact! Then they want to know why more patrols weren't available to prevent tragedies from occurring...IRONIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boating safety is important, especially if the people on the boat don't know how to SWIM! Checking boats for equipment such as life vests and flares, people should be happy that someone is concerned for their life. They did not place a drug sniffing K9 or bomb sniffing K9 on any boats as if people were guilty of something! Done!

Story from Lohud.com: 8 busted in Peekskill, accused of soliciting sex from undercover troopers By TERENCE CORCORAN THE JOURNAL NEWS (Original publication: July 19, 2007) PEEKSKILL - Be careful about soliciting a prostitute in Peekskill. She may be a cop. Eight Peekskill men learned that lesson the hard way this week when city police teamed with state police for a prostitution sting, Detective Sgt. Eric Johansen said today. Police have received several complaints from residents of the 300 block of Highland Avenue about prostitutes working their block. So on Tuesday night, undercover troopers with the New York State Police posed as prostitutes on Highland Avenue. Eight men who approached the women for sex were charged with patronizing a prostitute, a misdemeanor. Several of them had their vehicles impounded because they were using them in the commission of a crime, police said. Charged were: Angel Sacasari, 40; Juan Rojas, 31; Carlos Lituma, 29; Edwin Morales, 26; Luis Morocho, 30; Javier Ortez-Soto, 19; Manuel Romero, 46; and Luis Lucero, 29. In addition, police said they will be notifying federal immigration officials because it appears that the majority of those arrested are undocumented immigrants from Central or South America. Chief Eugene Tumolo vowed to continue to crack down on crimes like prostitution that have a negative impact on certain neighborhoods. "The police department is committed to eliminating the nuisances associated with prostitution and regularly deploys plainclothes and uniform officers whose specific task is to target these and other quality-of-life offenses," Tumolo said in a statement this morning.
