  1. The old tahoe's had the Streethawks with flashing brake/reverse lights and wigwag headlights. The new tahoe's have the rotating light bar (just lost the name) with yellow/blue led's to the rear in the bottom section, red led's in the front grille, wigwag headlights, arrow stick in the rear window, flashing intermittent tail lights.
  2. Thanks...
  3. Correction: Somewhere slightly elevated and historically less crowded preferably around a turn. With local parking...

  5. I really hope not...especially when winter comes...
  6. Fortunately I have not been stuffed in one, so I was wondering if they are caged? I couldn't tell from driving by them. Also, I don't know if it is the tone of the Blue, but they look extremely sharp. Also you guys are keeping them awfully clean! being 4x4 and all...they are 4x4 right?
  7. Once again, I see the trooper van (can't remember the number for the life of me), in Northern Westchester (Cortlandt) all the time. Always stopping a truck or set up at a place doing inspections. Don't recognize the trooper though, but I have been out of the game in that area for some time... In my opinion he is doing a great job.
  8. 7 out of 500 total for the state...isn't that a large percentage for one barracks? I like them though...and I think I've seen you around right?

  10. His car may have been hit and it is sad as to the injuries he received, however this is a public forum website and discussions are made here because others may see it as an important subject. Being hit by another vehicle does not exclude a person from fault. Just the other night I left work and was traveling on Nepperhan Ave a 6 lane roadway (3 each way), next to my co-worker who was also going home, when a taxi driver made the u-turn at Maple St and I had to use my E-brake with down shift and reg brakes to avoid a collision. Being, what I believe, an excellent driver who pays attention all the time and am observant, I avoided colliding with this vehicle, truth is in 15-20 years I may hit him...but would it be my fault...I don't think so. Now back to the subject: Closer to home, I had to take the keys away from both of my grandparents, whom are my neighbors. Needless to say this has caused me to have to drive them everywhere, but I think it is better than them killing someone. After a family review of my Grandmother's driving we have since given her permission to drive to church and to seniors, none more than a 2 minute drive. She is banned from night driving altogether, emergency or not. So, yes the Police have to take action, but families' should also do their part to save their loved ones and the lives of others that they may affect!
  11. I am confused...but without specifics by posting on this site it sometimes can be a stress relief or so it seems to be for some of the users. I guess the whole board is a CISD in a way...I see people express their feelings day in and day out here. In incidents of a large nature where human tragedy is experienced than a satisfactorily trained intervention person is probably much better! As for the press...they are gonna make up the meat anyway.
  12. Don't know about the highways...but don't come through Yonkers during specific times of certain decades...lol
  13. I read in the NY Post that he wanted to only talk to female 911 operators and would disconnect if a male answered the phone, cause he liked to talk sexy to them...or otherwise harass them! Don't know if it is true cause it was printed in the "Weird but True" section and they sometimes seem to elaborate to make it more interesting.

  15. I am a non smoker and think this is a great idea. I would not want a nurse, doctor, paramedic working on me that stunk like smoke. I enjoy going to bars and not having to throw my clothes in the washing machine instead of the hamper because of that horrible odor. I have rights too...and not having to smell the smoker's stink is one of them. I personally wear deodorant so I don't smell like a pig, dress professionally when at work (no uniforms here), and wear a light odored cologne so as not to impeach on others senses and make them uncomfortable. If you are providing care to a person who is asthmatic or difficulty breathing none the less then this smell can effect you. Sorry to all the smokers I am offending but I don't remember any smoker ever saying I am sorry for smelling like those disgusting cigarettes. However there are ways to smoke and not smell...listerine pocket packs and body spray are some of the easiest ways. As well, for every break that I may take at work, a smoker takes 5. And I seem to always get the question, "Where are you going, you don't smoke." That ain't right now is it?
  16. That's just plain....as already said-- DEE DEE DEEEEE! Should've called them a cab!
  17. "Diversion" Program...a way to take the light off of yourself or your case by creating a diversion to make you look like you have changed! If he doesn't wipe the slate clean I am sure either this or the next President may do it for him!

Yonkers man, family robbed after staged car accident PLAY THE VIDEO Play the video (07/28/07) YONKERS - Authorities are looking for three suspects who robbed a man and his family at gunpoint after staging a bogus car accident on the man’s commute home. 23. About time to come into the now, NO? If you can help the people you serve in a more expedient manner than so be it. They should obviously train them all as 1st responders and serve their community, not only professionally, but to the standard that is now expected. Isn't that why we have public service...and to say that responding provides a liability, I disagree, as long as they know their limits. Manpower may be important to assist the incoming EMS crew even if all they can do is stabilize the neck or carry someone down a flight of steps.
  24. That picture, when you click on the link, doesn't seem to have anything to do with the story...maybe it is just me! Thank God everyone is okay...wonder what kind of chopper they were using.?
  25. In the info on the bottom right side of the picture, it says exFDNY E82...1500/2000/40 CAFS...which would have made it an FDNY Foam unit...but I can't speculate if that is what this individual dept uses it for.
