A deal with ESPN...someone is making a lot of money on this! LOL The Yanks signed to look like they couldn't hack it for a while but then out of the blue came alive with some seriousness...J/K This is very correct! Just look at how Melky Cabrera has become the centerfielder, Damon is going to be looking for a new job next year, cause he is being traded. Just watch, he is the next Sheffield. Melky is the next Bernie, home grown talent that can run down the ball, gun out runners, and hit in the .300's with 15-20 homers a year! Standings mean only a little right now, there is so much time left for a 4 game swing. I believe that by the time the Yanks meet the Sox at the end of the month they will be even. The Yankees will be ready to bury em and the Sox won't know what hit them. Clemens-Hughes-Mussina in the first set all three have something to prove. I think the Red Sox better look out for the Mariners...that is the team they need to stay ahead of! As for Joba Chamberlain, he is amazing. 3 appearance, 5 innings, 8 strikeouts!!!! And the last one on Monday night against Huff when the ball just disappeared was ridiculous...even on the replay once it breaks I can't follow it! Next: Ian Kennedy, the number 3 pitching prospect in the nation, also a Yankee....if you didn't already know, Hughes is #1, Chamberlain is #2...pretty nuts! *Also R.I.P. Scooter Rizzuto! You will be missed by Yankee Fans everywhere!!!!!!*

Yeah, if it was just that she was drunk...knowing it was her he would have just followed her home...unless there is (OBVIOUSLY) more to this story! That would be almost as bad as writing your own mother...even most Troopers won't do that (LOL). I would hate to ask...was he hunting her? Even though she was drunk these charges may get dropped if there is any evidence that he was following her around when he was on patrol and she was off duty!

Countywide EMS system...tax district, and also participation from agencies that already answer EMS calls to help staff when they can. Put out a schedule, then let the volunteers pick shifts, then pay someone outside to come in and fill the vacancies...I may be looking for a per diem job close to home that carries minimal workload for the money! Just have to refresh my EMT...this would help move it along!

This actually has happened in our area here in metro NY a few times. Not cause one of our hospitals let someone die, but because they were closed. As with Yonkers General Hospital in Yonkers (now the Park Care Pavilion sub of St. John's Riverside Hospital). Facility accepts walk ins, clinic type setting and anything more than a cough, they call 911 for EMS to come and ship the person to (usually) St. John's ER. As a 911 operator, we triage the job and if it is not an EDP, we send only EMS, no FD first responder here. EDP's get a truck and if avail the sector car with EMS. It did overwhelm the system at times, but they don't do much business anymore...more or less just annoying when a doctor calls 911 to get an ambulance from a hospital facility and you have the idea they didn't even see the patient, they are just moving them along... This also occurred in the Bronx, Bronx Lebanon Hospital to be more specific, BronxLeb has 2 sites, the Concourse, main hospital, and the Fulton Division, located about a mile away. Fulton couldn't really handle s*** so Empress while contracted provided a BLS bus 24/7 to ship em over to the Concourse Division. When I worked at Empress this is how I saw my first 2 shooting victims, had to bring em over the a RN and MD on board, at like 0300 hours. I believe both victims were walk ins from the illustrious E169th St area...really nice place...lol I always thought they should just close completely and not do what they are doing cause it creates more work for EMS, if these people were willing to go to the hospital on their own originally what makes you think they wouldn't have gone to another open hospital that could actually help them? I guess this will increase transport times in the immediate area of the hospital.

msnbc link to story of Damage on Space Shuttle-click here! Hopefully they can make sure another tragedy does not occur. IMO Space travel is not really necessary and if the risks are starting to outweigh the rewards, well then maybe things need to be re-thought out.

When I heard this on the radio (WHUD) this morning, I just couldn't believe that they opted to vote down spending money to provide a public safety to their constituents. They have no right to go against what is needed and that is emergency medical care at the highest level in the timeliest manner! They are doing a disservice to the Community as a whole and should be impeached. Instead they should have voted to come up with a plan to fix the problem, cut from other agencies that do not need the money right now, and pushed to continue giving the people what they pay for. This appears to be a panic reaction that has not been thought out properly. Completely ridiculous and completely wrong. BTW there are a good many houses for sale in the Town of Cortlandt and surrounding neighborhoods for those who don't want to risk living in Putnam anymore...

News12 is doing a story on this subject as well as many other media sources. Apparently there is an unusual delay at this time in receiving passports. The US government is overwhelmed with applications and are rehiring personnel that are familiar with processing applications due to the workload. Moral of this story is that if you are planning on leaving the country anytime, you'd better get your application in, well in advance. Don't get left behind on your trip and lose money! Travel is great by the way, and there are many places that I can't wait to go see! I already have my passport though so I am in the clear... Story from LoHud.com: Related Story

Kind of tight in that House now isn't it? Where is this going to go? Just thinking that E121, E123 (?), LT8, R51, M51...I know they used to have the M/A and an small commercial type engine housed there...don't know if they still use those though...unless there is room behind one of those pieces that you can't see from the street because all of the front line apparatus are just that, up to the front line. Congratulations though on the new piece...when is delivery expected?

Silly question, is this where the NCAA Division 1 school Youngstown is? Or is it elsewhere... Looks like they put in work...A lot of the fires photographed are of vacant structures...well at least I think so!

I am guilty of being a car driver...However warning devices as intended do not always work properly or perfectly. I think that people have to take this into consideration when driving emergency vehicles, that just maybe the other persons do not see nor hear you. I mean we have all been there, especially in NYC when you hear the sirens coming but cannot place the direction cause the waves are bouncing off of buildings and you cannot see the reason for the sirens immediately. Where is it coming from? You look back and see nothing, front and see nothing and then all of a sudden here they come from a side street and you have a moment to react because visibility is so impaired by your surroundings. Hopefully if they have a red light they are stopping to make sure you are clear and not just taking for granted that you heard them and saw them when you really didn't. If I am in the path of a responding apparatus, I move over to the right a far as I can, even when they are coming in the opposite direction cause someone may not see them and they will have to swerve which if I didn't move they will hit me. However, if I am at an intersection and they go across, am I supposed to move out of their way if they are not traveling in the same direction as me? I mean N&S or E&W. I just think that everyone who drives an emergency vehicle should not ASSUME that the other drivers are going to do what they are supposed to do. Don't take it for granted (lol) that Mrs. Smith is looking both ways while going through an intersection in which she has the green light. Not worth it one bit. Just think of all the paperwork you will have to do, the questions you will have to answer day in and day out. It may have been a moment but it can be a lifetime's worth of bs that you have to deal with!

Nice looking firehouse, kind of original. Is this a tourist area or a local residential? That truck is nice too, very clean...and spec-ing just to fit sounds like something Croton Falls had to do for years...

Are per diem employees even covered by workmen's compensation? I don't know, but you don't have all the other regular benefits, that is why you work per diem. If there is any coverage it must be slim cause w.c. is usually based on work hours and a percentage of expected salary, no? And I definitely don't think RPS would be responsible for the w.c. portion either. Makes you think, is it better to just work OT at your "A" job rather than take that "B" job......... Unfortunately I will not be able to make the 10-13 party but will try to get some people at work to buy raffle tickets...Best wishes to Paramedic Coffey on a quick recovery!

I actually knew a member from this fire co. years ago...I worked with his wife at Empress, so I have been to their building once, maybe twice, well their old building that is. It was just south of the Soundview Projects (yeah the bad ones) and just off of the Southern tip of White Plains Rd. The premise was dilapidated to say the least, and the area they talk about covering is a waste! Harding Park is disgusting, it is an attempt to pull off a village like atmosphere in the South Bronx on the LI Sound Channel...Houses appear to have maybe a concrete flat as the foundation and none look as though anyone ever thought to paint them. It kind of reminded me of all the redneck jokes we love to hear, just didn't make sense cause of where it is. So prior to all of these donations, I wonder where they got their funds from to run the place at all. I never did ask, unfortunately. Running off donations is hard enough, but when your area is basically low income, and "who cares" type people, then how do you do it? Was the City giving them money too? And how did they work with the FDNY and have their own chief? Wouldn't they fall under the FDNY's incident commander on all incidents they responded too, or were they entitled to fight their own fire (so to say)? Give me $500,000 dollars and I bet it will be worth a couple of mill in a few years...it is called investing...Yes, you have expenses but you have to set priorities. To get a 100 year lease on Parks Dept. property for $1 now that is a deal, add a shed type building, even a pre-built steel or tin building for the fire truck and gear and it will probably cost you $150,000 completely outfitted. Keep 1 fire engine, cause that is probably all that you can man and in turn donate the others back to departments that need it more. Well, this is going to far... I have a feeling they had a few parties to boost morale...And I am sure the DA's office and State Investigators are going to have trouble tracking the expenses, cause I doubt they saved receipts!!!!!

Wouldn't this fall under the "black box" that airplanes have for consistency? I don't believe that they belong to the airline flying the plane but to the manufacturer as well. And then of course to the NTSB/FAA when a plane crashes. So just cause it is in your car does not mean it is yours. If you have ezpass, you do not own the little "white box" which also tracks data...of course only while going through tolls. That item belongs to the sub-contractor for NYS that runs ezpass. As well it records date, time, and speed thru plaza during use. And when a photo is snapped of your auto when traveling through the plaza it is linked to your ezpass number so they can see what car went through easier. Or at least that is what the privacy agreement said when I read it...yeah I read it so what? On another note, what cars come with the little "black box"? We just took delivery of a 2007 Pilot and they did not mention such item being present at all. I wouldn't even know where to look. Or is it just the computer that runs the car that is recording the data?

It looks like it settled.........I would hope that someone from the building dept took a look at this. Is this house/bldg in Yonkers?

Are the 2wd version also lower to the ground? Or do they add an after-market package? They seem lower than most tahoe's. Could be the color scheme too...I have seen a number of vehicles that look slightly different from one color to the next. Just a play on the eyes I assume, but I am no scientist. As well do you know if the State Police is considering the flex fuel version in the future to conserve energy?
