Had nothing to do with the police. We don't dispatch the police to fire jobs...unlike other places! If the cat had died, it may have taken some of the focus off the PD for at least an hour or two! I second that! Cat was so smart, that he just came down and ran away from the idiots who spent 2 days calling him. He was probably LHAO!

I was wondering...after your super bowl commercial thing, how many people fell for the duct tape comments in the thread about the nut on the plane?

Despite poor starting pitching yesterday, the Yankees bounced back today, behind the Major League debut of Ian Kennedy (#36). Kennedy started in the place of long time Yankee Mike Mussina (#35), and super ceded all expectations by giving up only 1 earned run. He was credited with 3 runs total, but 2 of those could have been avoided. Now if Phil Hughes could get himself back on track. Today's win coupled with the 2-1 loss by the M's in Toronto to the Blue Jays gave the Yankees a bit of breathing room for the first time this season. The Yankees now own a 2 game lead in the Wild Card! The Yankees will have the opportunity of a lifetime this week when they go face to face with the Mariners and can pull away with a sweep. Of course winning tomorrow should come first! Alex Rodriguez (#13) drove in 4 more runs today bringing his season total to 129. 2 of the 4 came in the 1st inning when A-Rod teed of on #45 for the season with 1 on and 2 men out. A-Rod finished 3 of 4 for the game and is now batting .308. The bats are getting hot once again and if the pitching holds up, the Yankees who are biting at the Red Sox heels, will have a chance to overcome the 5 game deficit over the next two weeks. The teams meet again, in Boston, September 14, 15, and 16 for the finale of their season series. As for tomorrow, a 1:05pm start at Yankee Stadium (TV: YES R: WCBS880), Andy Pettitte (#46) will toss for the Yanks, coming off another excellent critical start against Boston. Pettitte is 12-7 this season and boasts a 3.70 era. He will face Jason Hammel, 1-4 7.44 era. Go Andy!!!! And will there be a Joba sighting tomorrow???? We will see!

I think that mirror thing is a DOT reg....all big trucks are getting them now, not just fire apparatus...not sure though! Great looking "rig", County is getting all sorts of new toys these past few years, fire and police. When is EMS gonna get a MERV??????

Let's not worry about our own people doing bad things, but take the focus to another spectrum, private security firms run by non-Iraqis. If they don't care that they are blowing each other up, then why should we? It is just like here...people kill each other, maim each other, rob each other, mug each other...you get the picture, but the focus is not on them, but the Police when they stop them and someone feels they are mistreated, make all the headlines, and everyone wants to discuss what should be done...It is just plain ridiculous! We need to start worrying about the real criminals and helping the police to do something about it, cause it is only going to get worse. As for blackwater USA, if they saw a threat and proceeded to eliminate that threat, than good for them... And is every city in Iraq "holy", I don't think they take our religions into consideration, why are we taking theirs?

They work from 6 am to 10 am and again from 3 pm to 7 pm along all of the Westchester County's Highways excluding the Bronx River Parkway from the Sprain Split to the Kensico Dam. On the Saw Mill, Hutch, Cross County, and Bronx River, they communicate with Westchester County Police since that is the police coverage as well. On the Sprain and 684 they communicate with the TMC. On 87 (never seen one in Yonkers though) and 287, I am not sure who they contact, but the TMC would make sense, if not the Thruway Auth office. They work on NEXTEL. However, I did not know that these were privately operated vehicles, I thought the DOT had something to do with it, unless it is contracted out from there. If I owned one, I would want the name of my company on it, the contracted tow agencies, don't change their logo to NY State Dept of Transportation just cause they are awarded service to particular sections of roadways. None of the guys I met on the street when I worked out there were trained in any sort of first aid/CPR, but we told them they should take an EMT class at least, they beat us to most of the MVA's that occurred on the parkway system. They have a minimal amount of gasoline on board, jacks and tools to change tires, and other assorted tools to help make minor repairs along the highway. As well as safety equipment, flares, and now those oversized "arrow board sticks" which are a lot better than the regular arrow stick on police cars. I am unfamiliar with how far north they cover on the taconic state parkway...I only go so far as Yorktown during those times.

That was probably his baseline...and they say you can never kill a good drunk! Sad how much someone who was a nuisance and burdened society is getting so much time! And the right to burden society even more. Since we are paying for both sides of the case.........

Chris, you are almost as good as me! Commercial Police....LMAO NYSP CVEU Link There is the link to the CVEU...that is the only known state commercial vehicle enforcement. I have a feeling that you saw a Green car and it said Conservation Police....just a thought! EnCon Police Link (Green State Cars)

I would just like everyone to know that these people called us for 2 days, and were told that we do not do this type of work. They continually called 911 and the police/fire non emergency numbers. They were referred to wildlife agents/agencies, some trapping services and refused to pay to have the cat removed... In the end, they called 911 on a cell phone and reported a structure fire in the building adjacent to where the cat was stranded. No fire was found, and the YFD assisted the public instead. I am utterly annoyed! The person reporting the false alarm should have been arrested! A dispatcher gathered enough info to make this occur, however it was not used! I guess no one cares that people could have been killed responding to this bullshit false alarm, and that the public sunk this low to get someone there to help the frigging cat that climbed on its own into the tree. I am glad to here that no one climbed the tree and it is too bad they missed the damn cat with the water and it didn't fall to its death. I have nothing against animals, and had a cat for most of my life. But, I would have paid money to see the looks on these peoples faces if they cat they couldn't leave alone died as a result of their no being able to mind their own business! In the end, it was nobody's cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just a stray that probably jot chased by a loose dog and ended up in the tree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You weren't there, but your company was...and they still lost...I mean I could see if you were there...you have never been in step!

Sounds like they were judged just prior to the parade...during the lineup.

Sox fan right???? Matsuzaka had since left the game, Lopez relieved him. To begin the 7th, the Red Sox brought in the other Japanese pitcher, Hideki Okajima, who was responsible for Giambi's homer and Cano's homer, as well as flushing the Sox lead down the toilet. And about them being over-rated, I disagree, Matsui is doing just fine. To think, the baseball talent in Japan is sub par, so stand outs, stand out. It is not like American baseball, as well starting pitchers only pitch once every 7 days, not a 5 day rotation like here, so there will definitely be a difference in performance...and I don't think they are using steroids over there! Unfortunately tonight, Beckett was better than Wang and the Red Sox won. As well, Yankees need to revamp the bullpen for next year...I hope they are looking in to it now so they can start to work on it for next Spring! Fans may begin to leave deposits for 2008 season ticket licenses. Just log on to Yankees.com and click on Tickets for info. When is Papelbon a free agent, cause he would make a good Yankees set up guy!

RIP to the fallen Miami-Dade officer! Wishes for a quick recovery to the officers injured! Great job in taking out the PERP!!!!! Good to see someone followed something through!

Thanks...I got tied up... Game Notes: Matsui 1-2 with 2 walks...this means he will start hitting again real soon, just in time for Boston! Alex Rodriguez has gone 3 games without hitting a homerun. Joba Chamberlain (as seen on the left) allowed his 1st major league run, albeit unearned secondary to an error by A-Rod. Controversy still reigns on the play, although the run still counts. The runner (Hill), after touching the base, did not continue down the line, instead he veered off towards 2nd base. In little league, if you did that, and were tagged, you were out...I guess they don't follow the same rules in the majors? I believe it is on the books and he should have been called out, ending the inning there! League News: The Red Sox get some punch from Big Papi! Ortiz hit 2 homers including a 2 run blast with 1 out in the 9th inning for a walk off job! Why, did they pitch to him in the 9th, even with 1 guy on...that is even worse...WALK HIM! He lives for that moment...take it away, maybe the Devil Rays are giving it away, but they played hard against the Yanks...do I smell favoritism? Detroit won, remaining 4 games back of the Yanks in the wildcard. Seattle who? Although they beat Oakland, they are 7 back. MLB announced that the team with the best record would get to chose which schedule they will follow in the playoffs, A or B, A has 2 off days, while B has 3. This is a first! Yanks play in Toronto again tonight...no HD still though do to that damn fire in Stamford, CT that wiped out the transmission feeding equipment. 7:07pm TV, YES Network; Radio, WCBS 880AM (metro NY market); WEB, MLB.com/TV, however no Yankee game is ever out of market, another reason to be a Yankee fan! Tonight's Matchup: Ian (Baby Moose) Kennedy (1-0, 2.25) vs. A.J. Burnett (8-7, 3.56) Yankee Press Release: The Yankees would like to announce, that the Yankee Stadium Squirrel, whom lives atop the right field foul post, has been officially named Scooter, in honor of the late Phil Rizzuto. It is the belief of many fans that Phil, has been re-incarnated as a Squirrel and lives at the Stadium, so he will always be at home.

What is really funny is that the area just to the south of the Lake, is really Mohegan Colony! A smorgashboard of small cottages that were once just summer homes of the rich city dwellers. Now most of these homes have been redone, and enlarged, but some are still tiny.
