  1. Since I only have 106-million points (literally!) I will pitch in 2 mil as well!
  2. I agree with INIT915...right on the ball! If it ain't fact, people can be mislead...if you feel you are 100% correct, prior to finishing your post, cite your source with a "hotlink" so that all can read it themselves and better understand what is going on. We cancel EMS to certain calls if PD or FD is already on scene and requests we do so. We update FD as to the conditions at the site and allow the OIC (Batt Chief) to make the decision on what response is necessary anymore. We do not cancel EMS based on what a caller says, once they have called for help they get it. We do cancel PD on non-priority jobs or jobs that are handled internally. We never cancel PD based on request regarding disputes, more importantly Domestics! We always attempt to update units enroute if further information has been received! We do cancel alarms (burglar alarms only) whether they may be residential or commercial if the alarm company calls in a request for cancel and the reason is "good". If an address has a BOLO attached to it, we consult the BOLO and make an informed decision. That is basically for Yonkers ONLY! I cannot speak for anyone else...each department's procedures vary so the Question, Rob, is a loaded one!
  3. And the best part is, these days everyone pretty much just settles!
  4. Give me 5 random boxes...I don't have time to figure out whats available! Points sent...250!
  5. Both excellent choices! I have to go for Coming to America, personally...that is one of the funniest movies!
  6. Got my numbers from work....3 and 3...those don't sound so bad!
  7. Did you wear a tux? It would've definitely impressed the committee!
  8. A-helluva-lot nicer than those old Caprice Wagons they used to rock!
  9. They have been there for a while now...at one time there were Mass SP cars there next to the Boston one's. It is a movie studio at that location.
  10. Isn't that rain MUCH NEEDED????
  11. Wow, a few of us were discussing this same thing last night in Yonkers Fire Control...We were saying the Port Chester and Ossining were really due for big ones! Hope I don't Jinx ya, cause we could still have a really, really cold night in the near future...Would be interesting!
  12. Thanks to Chris for the great illustration! LMAO...get a life Now, back to the point...You can't just make up your own rules, the police make the rules on the scene on an as needed basis pertaining to the individual conditions existing. I like taking pictures too, but if someone said that I couldn't pass the line, I wouldn't pass the line. It all comes down to respect and courtesy! If the reporter is respectful and courteous, I have a mighty good feeling that the officer may react in the same way. However, if the reporter just pushes through, well off to jail you go, at least you get a free meal and phone call out of it...LOL I have vast experience with dealing with the police as a civilian, I get stopped all the time...I am always respectful and courteous and it has always paid off! I mean the chances they haven't heard of MFY are dwindling, but my theory is that of courtesy and respect and recognition that they are just doing their job...
  13. Pessimism doesn't get anyone anywhere! FYI, a number of corporations have filed chapter 11 and come back strong after re-organizing their focus and finances. Just assuming that the YFD will not get their apparatus is plain old ludicrous...doesn't ALF have more than 1 plant (?)...oh, and that is why there is a "play on words" using the word "assume"...Makes an a** out of u...in this case, not me! And I love how you guess the numbers that will be assigned new apparatus...argh!
  14. Identify yourself, ask permission (humbly), and maybe they will let you inside...maybe...but crossing the line otherwise is ludicrous!
  15. I like the new pool surface alarming systems! Works great if someone is home to hear the alarm...what if no one is home and the neighbors kid jumps in????? Good idea, not fully thought out, unless I am missing something, which has happened!

  17. What qualifies as a weapon...forget it, don't go there! LMAO
  18. Hopefully they don't get any photos of your hooters trip and disban your dept!
  19. It is still unclear if he was breaking up a dispute or not...if that is the case, than he assumed duties as a sworn police officer and took action therefore considered LODD. This is not uncommon, years ago a Yonkers PD officer walked into a robbery in progress of a store and was shot and killed as he tried to stop it. He was off duty until he began to act on the crime in progress.
  20. Hmmm...to add to that, the Helo (new) is 9716 I believe...
  21. Second this post! The lights are so everyone on the scene, more importantly, the Incident Commander can glance quickly and be on top of the whole incident. God forbid an MPO gets caught up in pumping and loses track of his supply and it leads to someone else's demise! This is a check, in the world we live in, of checks and balances! I don't think I ever say anywhere that it was so the MPO could leave his post altogether! That is fiction in my book!
  22. The bottle was thrown from the notorious Buena Vista Condo's building. This encompasses 47, 85, 95 Riverdale, 34 Prospect, 50, 70, 90 Hawthorne, as well as numerous courtyard apts with their own addresses. Some of us gave this place the nickname "Maze Projects", although not a true "PROJECT". Once inside, certain elevators only go to certain floors, most apartments are duplex's and garbage!, and all of the building are connected on the inside...really confusing. This location was the same as the recent homicide of the Emerald Diner delivery guy and is known to house a number of violent offenders including one that recently threatened to shoot any cop and then fled from the YPD the other day and disappeared inside the premise...not hard to be Houdini in there if you live there and know people... This place needs to be cleaned up more than anywhere else in Yonkers right now...yet the tenants are fighting a raise in rent which may "weed" out some of the more unwanteds than we know right now!
  23. With the projected expansion of the hospital to occur in the near future, I am sure that this problem will be reduced. Of course, my wife being an ER nurse at a local facility (St. John's - Yonkers), I continuously bust her about diversion. In fact this week has been ridiculously busy all around! And as ALS is saying...sometimes we all have to play "Politician" and use our charm to help patients make their decision to go elsewhere...this won't work all of the time, but this is the real world.
  24. Congrats, and thanks for bringing us all back to those childhood memories, well at least for my age group! It is great to see the jobs that we have only "heard" about through war stories over time. Keep it up!
